I enjoyed SDV the first few goes but ultimately I mod it a lot to tweak everything I dislike and add stuff I wanted in the first place. Even the first thing I grab is a recolor, I dislike the game's vanilla color palette.
As much as I agree with the idea that everyone has copied the shit out of the game, SDV is soulless as hell and I never have any fun with it.
Meh farming, meh combat, and I like exactly 0% of the NPC cast and I dislike the story.
That said, I'm annoyed by how few people specifically clone SDV and do a shit job of it.
Sun Haven was a big one for me, I picked it up on sale and really the only decent part of the game is how fun the art gets sometimes, especially in the third town.
I absolutely hate how unfinished SH is.
I also have another farming sim-whatever called Serin Fate, which I guess is kinda cool, it's got some Pokemon mixed in and some weirdly complex mechanics that are probably more complex than they should be, but the game isn't clicking with me for some reason.

Stardew Valley is a copy of harvest moon and so are most of the games you consider copies of SV.
SDV copied HM.
Everyone else is copying SDV now because SDV is the second most profitable indie game ever made and paved the way for how HM should've been modernizing all along.

I still remember my first playthrough and I focused on the mines. They're great and comfy. The only exception (which are still shit to this day) are flying enemies that don't die in one hit.

How did I get filtered by this? I played for about an hour and stopped because there was nothing to do besides growing vegetables, and the waifus were mid. Is there a greater point to this game? Should I give it another shot?
Only an hour? And that told you everything you needed to know? Why do people do this, I play long enough to learn all the basics and decide from there.
Some players need the game to spoonfeed them. They can't think by themselves if there is not an arrow radar pointing what to do next.
Which is weird because the game drip-feeds quests to you automatically. What more would one need for this type of game where you do whatever whenever.
