How likely is a physical release in the West? I would really rather not have to import. Also, does Sony still own the rights to Boku no Natsuyasumi? Hope maybe this will convince someone there to localize those.
That's only referring to Japan, where it already launched physically on Switch. It's unknown if there will be a western physical release on either system.
Oh yeah, that's happening. I'm sure Miura has a bigass bible full of stuff they can use to continue the story, but who's doing the art?
Nah the creator is still around. I remember he was trying to get Sony to fund a Boku no Natsuyasumi game in the early years of the PS4, but nothing came of it. So it came as a shock when this released last year on Switch.
No, not the game series creator, the creator of Shin Chan. He fell off a cliff years ago.
>Miura died a year ago and they brought back Berserk
what the frick
Kouji Mori (author of Holyland) his longtime closest friend since childhood is overseeing the production. He actually ended one of his own series to give more time and focus to Berserk.
The story will come from the plot as he’s outlined it to Mori before his death, and apparently will be only that, he doesn’t want to make it his own work, just finish as much of Muira’s work as he can. The art is being done by the same assistants who were already working on Berserk, so the art has been about the same honestly.
Without knowing what happened you could read the most recent chapters and not notice any differences.

what the frick is up with berserk? why do people praise it as literally peak manga?
the 97 anime wasn't even that good, it just had god tier music. I still tried the manga cause the anime ended on a cliffhanger, and it read like a comic book. cool art style sure, but everything about it felt generic as frick.
Actually wouldn't surprise me to see it but I doubt it will be 10 minutes, they already need at least 7 minutes dedicated to bayonetta, unless they announce a separate video for it so they can show off the gore and lewd since they can't really do that in any sort of general direct
One its Shin Chan, so fans of that are excited butvtwo is that its the first game in this series to releases in the US. Thengame is a spin off of a japanese series about summer vacations.
my mom used to laugh a lot watching this show with me, it was well received in a lot of countries in EU. I think they still dub the new episodes and movies in my country. I remember trying to do the butt dance shin chan does when I was like 10 to amuse my parents, my parents took a photo and my cousin stole it and showed it to a lot of people in school, everyone laughed and made fun of me. Frick this show
>No, it's from the movie where his future waifu travel back to the past and bring his younger self to help save his adult ass and the world
I know Shin-chan has been going on for a long time now and they probably ran out of ideas but copying Meet the Robinsons is a bit low.
I think Shin Chan still has stuff that wouldn't let it be screened here to kids, despite it being made for kids. I remember Shin Chan would moon all the time.
All I know about Shin-Chan is that movie where all the adults give into nostalgia and revert to a childlike state and their kids all have to fend for themselves. It was actually very moving and poignant. Hope this game is cool.
You had me committed
This jacket is straight
You know I'm committed to you, baby
That's why your cat I ate
Doc says there's promise
This medicine's great
It makes me feel better
Though I can't ejaculate
Does this mean we can get back together?
I'd love it if the Direct was just a bunch of small niche stuff nobody was expecting like this, and Sports Story, and Labyrinth of Galleria, and maybe like a FFT and Jeanne D'arc remaster.
What's weird is that they had a half-decent dub first but never released it in America. I watched that one as a kid, it's reasonably accurate for kids show dubbing standards. But then one of those Ghost Stories style trannies picked it up and made it "funny".
Imagine not liking the funimation dub. The classic showing of anime cons and clubs across the US when you wanted to watch something silly and enjoyable.
I don't hate the funimation dub, but it sucks when Shin Chan stuff gets localized and they use "Action Bastard" in a kid friendly setting because they think they need to use those names.
Holy shit didn't see that coming. I remember it from that one japanese nintendo direct, it looked super comfy, but I don't know if it translates to a game that's actually fun to play tho.
That was unexpected.
they did say a while back that they were planning to localize it.
Do people still give a shit about Shin Chan today? I thought it died out years ago.
in this case it's not that much about shin-chan, it's about this being first Boku no Natsuyasumi game released in west.
Guess it makes sense to test the waters on something with at least a small element of brand recognition

PS4 confirmed physical release. don't know about switch https://news.neoscorp.jp/news-shinchan-ps/

>there will never be a side-scrolling beat-em-up revolving solely around Action Bastard
This series is still going? I thought the creator died like almost a decade ago.
Miura died a year ago and they brought back Berserk, they've lost their way
Oh yeah, that's happening. I'm sure Miura has a bigass bible full of stuff they can use to continue the story, but who's doing the art?

Did Kouji Mori at least give his manga a proper ending?
Yes
>Miura died a year ago and they brought back Berserk
what the frick
First 2 chapters came out this week. Not much happened and it felt like barely 1 chapter but it's happening.
Nah the creator is still around. I remember he was trying to get Sony to fund a Boku no Natsuyasumi game in the early years of the PS4, but nothing came of it. So it came as a shock when this released last year on Switch.

>why do people praise it as literally peak manga?
because its long
thats it
the dark swordsman arc does kind of read like the punisher or something i'll give you that but it picks up after
I started reading this post out of context and got really confused thinking that Shin-Chan had a dark swordsman arc
I'll buy it if it comes to PS5, frick that shitty fisher price tablet
That desperate for games?
it's getting a ps4 version.
The creator dying doesn't mean the popular series dies with him, see: Chibi Marukochan.
Oh yeah, I forgot that creator died too. So like, when a creator's series continues beyond their death, does their family still get paid?
Intellectual property is... property. If he was getting royalties and they're inheriting his shit, yeah, sure, of course.
Arent jap publishers megajews that own the IPs and just "hire" the authors to work on them?
I think i heard something among those lines.
Not like American comic
really then what about series like star ocean or grandia?
I love the OP where she's running down the stairs
I guess we'll have 10 minutes of this in tomorrow's direct
Actually wouldn't surprise me to see it but I doubt it will be 10 minutes, they already need at least 7 minutes dedicated to bayonetta, unless they announce a separate video for it so they can show off the gore and lewd since they can't really do that in any sort of general direct
Literally nobody in the US is going to give a shit if it doesn't have the dub.
It is confirmed no dub so guess it is dead. Probably won't even get a physical release in US.
oh, neat. pretty unexpected to be honest
is there a 40 year old hag who tries to frick him? if not im not buying it
What the frick? SOUL in 2022? Impossible
I fricking hate this and pic related because it's really a cheap move to just combine a game with a completely unrelated popular kids show
YESSSSSS
COMFY TIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I really dont want to know what maso and georgy would be written like in current year
So what’s the deal with this game? Why is everyone losing their shit about it on Twitter?
We haven't had anything Shin Chan related in the west in over a decade.
One its Shin Chan, so fans of that are excited butvtwo is that its the first game in this series to releases in the US. Thengame is a spin off of a japanese series about summer vacations.
what will it be rated?
my understanding is that in Japan, Crayon Shin Chan is a legitmate series for kids, but in the west it's on adult swim and shit?
Does it have an adult gag dub or something?
No idea, here in Spain is for 7 years old but at the time time it's on Fox
Adult dub. nothing like the orignal show, not even close.
I remember the English dub having a lot of adult humor with sex jokes and stuff
In Europe it's known as a (somewhat vulgar) kid's show. I still remember a lot of lines from the Dutch dub that I doubt would ever be allowed today.
my mom used to laugh a lot watching this show with me, it was well received in a lot of countries in EU. I think they still dub the new episodes and movies in my country.
I remember trying to do the butt dance shin chan does when I was like 10 to amuse my parents, my parents took a photo and my cousin stole it and showed it to a lot of people in school, everyone laughed and made fun of me. Frick this show
I laughed and I am sorry for you
We all copied some silly shit from cartoons that our parents thought we made up, we're all cringe
I liked the first episodes, shit got stupid later on
Nintendo direct prediction:
Zeldafan123Prime69: What the frick is this gay kid's game.
Reminder that Shinnosuke grow up to be a fricking chad
Huh, when did this happen? Was there a timeskip?
No, it's from the movie where his future waifu travel back to the past and bring his younger self to help save his adult ass and the world
Gotta admit his canon waifu is 10/10 what a lucky kid
>No, it's from the movie where his future waifu travel back to the past and bring his younger self to help save his adult ass and the world
I know Shin-chan has been going on for a long time now and they probably ran out of ideas but copying Meet the Robinsons is a bit low.
I remember Himawari becoming sex
>Grow up to be a bawd cop
who would have thought
Crayon shin is still alive. I thought the creator got murdered hiking.
what's the gameplay like?
I think Shin Chan still has stuff that wouldn't let it be screened here to kids, despite it being made for kids. I remember Shin Chan would moon all the time.

Great movie.
I will buy it
I will not buy it.
does melancholy fit shin chan? i have not seen the movies btw
Off course, it does
The Adult Empire Strikes Back is certainly melancholy, and that's the most popular Shin Chan movie.
One of the best series ever, and like always USA mistreat it
You had me committed

>another game to be bastardized by westerners
Visual novel?
No
These games are summer vacation simulators
We won, Shin-chads!
Frick yeah. Crayon Shin Chan and Labyrinth of Galleria Western localizations both announced within the same week, and both coming to Switch.
Oh shit, I thought this was never going to get ported. Sweet.
It got ported to Switch last year
Pretty sure he meant localized.
Ported does not mean the same as localized
Yes, that's why I said,
>pretty sure he meant localized
What a surprise. A good surprise, that is.
I'd love it if the Direct was just a bunch of small niche stuff nobody was expecting like this, and Sports Story, and Labyrinth of Galleria, and maybe like a FFT and Jeanne D'arc remaster.
Don't Americans have a greatly distorted view of the nature of this show from a shitty dub or something?
still neat to see it brought over though, precure games in the west next, allow Japanese culture to completely wash over and erase western media
yes, they did an "edgy" dub, because Americans
They also censored Doraemon
Everybody knows the Funimation dub is wildly different than the original, but I'll still stand behind it because I'm not an autist.
What's weird is that they had a half-decent dub first but never released it in America. I watched that one as a kid, it's reasonably accurate for kids show dubbing standards. But then one of those Ghost Stories style trannies picked it up and made it "funny".
Buli Buli Zaemon!!
As a seaBlack person who grew up with shinchan and doraemon, im really happy to see this get localize
Is there a hamtaro games and anyone here play it?
Imagine not liking the funimation dub. The classic showing of anime cons and clubs across the US when you wanted to watch something silly and enjoyable.
Right, right, tell us more about that one time you had sex with an ugly fat chick dressed as Naruto.
What's next, are you going to tell me how Robotech "isn't that bad"?
I don't hate the funimation dub, but it sucks when Shin Chan stuff gets localized and they use "Action Bastard" in a kid friendly setting because they think they need to use those names.
Looks comfy af, and prerendered backgrounds is a dying artform. Might buy it just for those reasons.
Holy shit didn't see that coming. I remember it from that one japanese nintendo direct, it looked super comfy, but I don't know if it translates to a game that's actually fun to play tho.
CRAYON SHIN CHADS WE FRICKING WON
Nice
