One day, they decided to up the price of DLCs by 150% while delivering less overall content compared to previous ones. The community collectively went "wft?" so hard a high executive of CA did the unthinkable and actually released a letter to the community personally. Problem is said letter basically said "We need to price gouge you so the money can go into Hyenas, so buy it or we'll cancel our promised future support like we did with Three Kingdoms", and that's when the reviewbombing began.

        Anonymous

True, but when people become aware of the fact that the user review section has been reduced to nothing but angry morons brapping out their downvotes in droves because [recent thing that makes me le angry], they'll stop checking them, and instead have to turn to journos and paid shills on youtube as their only source of information on the game itself.

Except when you open the reviews you see the complaints are legitimate.
Paid content like nakai has not been working properly for over a month now.
Most of the content is locked by DLCs that increase in price with every new release.
The AI has not been improved for the last year even though it still sucks.

There is a reason they had to release a a statement begging for people to buy. It's affecting them, and they are losing this exchange. A wh dlc hasn't performed this badly since wh1

So you're expecting people to manually sort through thousands of shitposts in review format to get some actual information on the game, and repeat that process for every game they're interested in buying?
That seems downright delusional, and is never going to happen. People will simply turn away from User Scores, as they've just became a pain in the ass to deal with.

But I made that decision because I have a functioning brain, not because some angry aspies screeched at me not to buy it.

Most people new to the game would not even realize about the drama going on without reviews.
Seeing a game in mostly negative is an instant warning to check what's going on.
If you think steam reviews don't affect sales just because they don't affect (you), someone who spends time debating videogames on an internet forum (so a very passionate minority), you are stupid and not looking at the average buyer's perspective on these things.

I could just buy the game, skip the drama and the most recent DLC, and get hundreds, possibly thousands of hours worth of fun out of it, as it's still a solid game. giving units warcraft 3 skills does not make the game better. Some units being able to fly doesn't make the game better since they're too frail to do anything but harass archers 90% of the time. Giving hero or monster units far more attack or armor than the other units does not make the game better. Your hero characters being able to level up so they become broken in comparison to the other units in the game does not make the game better.

Fantasy total war is worse than the historical games they were making fifteen years ago.

                >the fact I'm r-repeating his moronic talking points means nothing!
Even just the fact that you dismissed the tactical impact of being able to basically break formations through fliers that harass archers and artillery means you're a blind shitposter.
But here's the kicker. Even if you take out the fliers, heroes and magic, the Warhammer games are STILL better than Med2 or Shogun2 or anything else. Just the controls and UI improvements between the games would put them above. You could at the very least point to very real issues WH3 specifically has such as poor pathfinding in corners or line of sight issues.
But no, you rather focus on homosexual non issues like "hurrr durr why to crossbows curve, never mind ignoring the fact that realism here is not what was being aimed for and criticisms such as this are basically pointless pedantic frickery by a homosexual buttmad Shogun 2 is an inferior game (even amongst the old TW games it's the worst, compared to Med2 or Empire)

Medieval 2 is a better game than Total Warhammer 3. Obviously some shogun 2 players have been bullying you pretty hard but I don't care about asiatic shit so I'm not one of them

    >HOW DARE THEY CHARGE $5 EXTRA FOR A DLC? WORST GAME EVER!
I get that it's a shitty practice, but pretending the game just magically turned to a steaming pile of shit because of that seems a bit overblown and childish, especially when you could simply decide to not buy the DLC and carry on.

      Anonymous

      >5 extra
We're past that argument. That was the discussion for the chorfs. And the issue was never just the fact it was five dollars extra, it was that they also had one less legendary lord than the vampire coast and the tomb kings. At the time I personally had no issue because the dlc is excellent otherwise, but in retrospect the fact the chorfs did so well is what likely convinced them it was okay to do this shit now.
As for the present situation, they're charging you the same fricking price as the chorfs for 3 lords, a hero, 12 units (4 for each faction) and 9 ror
      It's a fricking shit price.
And on top of all that. The game barely gets any support or bugfixing despite the price hikes.

Consoomer psyop, this "maybe this product isn't for you this time" is a distraction technique used by corporations to try and disregard actual critisim.

No idea what's happening, but given GW history of being fricking homosexuals, of literally putting a twitter post that said Warhammer is not for people not in the left, because they're inclusive by being exclusive of roughly 50% of all the earth population, by banning randos for no reasons, and for trying to stiffle the creativity of random artists by having them banned...

I'm sure whatever GW and CA did to frick up, this time, they did it massively, they did it frankly, and they did it moronicly. So as long as you don't kill a CA dev, because that's illegal and unproductive, that's more or less your right to answer like that.

What the frick did CA do? We follow "Hitler" and we're inclusive by banning you if you're not following "Hitler" today? Something on that level?

Yes, tis called a false positive and also because you are using a program for auto cream api instead of doing it manually with the texts files

Warhammer 3 is just 2 but the whole planet. The reviewbomb is because the latest scummy practice and executive letter to the community just revealed what we dreaded about the game's development but was never outright said by CA until now. Quality wise its still standard stuff you can see in any of 2's DLCs.

      Anonymous

It's bad because there's no content and it's a buggy mess, two years after release. What makes it "decent" is all the past games' DLC that carries over. If you don't have the two prior games and $150 worth of past DLC, the game sucks ass. A new person buying WarHam 3 would have a handful of serviceable lords, with a lot of NOTHING on a barren map.

Worse in fact, a new player would have to contend with the old races and all of their years worth of DLC which makes them over powered enemies, cause the base races of WarHam 3 are very weak without DLC that adds the stronger utility units.

      Depends.
Some stuff in WH3 is better than WH2, other stuff is worse.
If you enjoy Warriors of Chaos for example WH3 is a better game, but dark elves arguably play better in WH2.
Also the bug issues isn't as big as people say because the mod community does help mitigate a lot of it.
