I mean that's kinda the joke with Dunsparce

nerds be complaining about this evolution but I'm quite certain none of them even used Dunsparce seriously
they just don't understand his appeal

      >it's le shit on purpose

Thinking about it I never seen a Dudunsparcegay say they like it because they like how it looks. It's always because it's so lmao post-ironic or because they imagine people that don't like it as being super mad it's not Rayquaza. What a joke of a pokémon

Every time I say that I would have preferred no evolution at all, they never have an argument and just stop responding. Without the "you want a dragon" strawman, they have no argument.

dudunsparce is proof that gamefreak can make any design they want and some people will use whatever mental gymnastics they can to justify it as being absolutely perfect
I don't even so much care that dudunsparce is similar to dunsparce, I care that they made absolutely zero effort to make it even remotely distinct, and expressing any issues with it whatsoever makes apologists crawl out of the woodwork with
        >uhhhh it's clearly ironic, if you don't like it that means you probably just wanted it to be an edgy dragon!
no, I just wanted an evolution that actually looks like an evolution, if it still turned out ugly then oh well, I can still use eviolite dunsparce the same way I use it instead of dudunsparce

My sentiments exactly. Dunsparce is one of my favorites and I've wanted and evo for years, and it's so annoying to watch people defend one of the laziest designs we've ever gotten using such complete non-arguments.

I don't even mind "it just gets bigger" evolutions most of time. I love Muk, Weavile, Tangrowth, etc. But there's a big difference between designs that change much, and an evolution so identical to the previous stage that you can't even tell the difference when viewed at a certain angle, and where the name is literally just a copy+paste but with the first two letters repeated.

Dudunsparce is like if instead of Gliscor, Gligar's evolution was named "Gligarar" and the only difference between it and Gligar was that it's tail was slightly longer.

Dunsparce entire gimmick is just it's rarity. It's based on a Japanese Yokai some think exists because it's literally just 'Wide Snake'

There is nothing to it that when people are wanting an evolution, the entire purpose of it is now the wide snake is longer and just as wide.

You are searching for a joke of a Cryptid and the entire point of the extra segment is to continue the entire point of the line... It's hard to find and rare. It's a cryptid that is completely fricking normal but it's just a wide snake.

Literally, what else is there to Tsuchinoko? There is no hidden lore or fairy tale, it's just 'fat snake'

why does a pokemon based on a "joke" concept have to be fundamentally reduced to a barebones joke in every single capacity
hell, even keeping the joke angle you can still take dunsparce in multiple different routes with the same inspiration without being lazy about it
            >poke fun at the 'illusive fat snake' idea by making it fatter and yet deceptively more illusive in some manner
            >keep the rare segment form gimmick but dial it up to eleven by creating a much wider variety of segment numbers
            >have the segments be varied in width instead of it just being longer to give it a different shape from the original
but no, apparently doing the absolute bare minimum is the best thing they could have possibly done and anyone that wanted anything more than that 'just doesn't get it'

      >I mean that's kinda the joke with Dunsparce
There was never any joke about Dunsparce. Never. It was always a stupid fan theory.
      >nerds be complaining about this evolution but I'm quite certain none of them even used Dunsparce seriously
      I did.
      >they just don't understand his appeal
The appeal is that it's a cute little tsuchinoko with rollout, glare, headbutt, and serene grace. There is (or rather used to be) nothing ironic about it.

The tsuchinoko is something you can search for your whole life and it ends up being lame. That is the joke. It's just a fat snake.

Same could be true for every cryptid or mythical mon. Guess they should all look like shit to be le ironic.

the joke is the fact the tsuchinoko is supposed to be the “lame cryptid.” castlevania the tsuchinoko monster digs away the moment you enter the room, metal gear and monster hunter it’s just a rare collectible you can hunt and capture

Sometimes I wonder if Pokemon designs suck simply because there's an overabundance of Fakemon fanart, and they're trying really hard to not accidentally make them too similar.

    >create a Pokemon
    >"okay, looks good, now let's check the internet to make sure something similar doesn't already exist"
    >checks the internet
    >"aw frick, this looks too much like fanart, better change it up"
    >modify the design
    >"there, much better. It looks like shit now, but at least we evaded a scandal."

      Anonymous

I'd say that's more a you problem than a general problem. I don't bother with fakemon and as a result have not seen any new addition as anything less than a pokémon (might as well add, most fakemon artists are too up their own arse to try and design a GF-style pokémon including passing off the initial design for critique and comments, so just draw "le generic moncap creature" and call it a pokémon).
If you look at ganky shit to the point you develop stockholm syndrome over it. you've only yourself to blame for disliking Game Freak's efforts. Game Freak understand what their shit should be.
