we need to wipe games like this off the face of the planet
You keep posting about this
Nah. proof?
Yes
Tales of Arise is uniquely bad (as far as modern Tales go). Reigning Slash is the only viable way to play on high difficulty.
I beat the game on hard and rarely touched it. Arise just seems to be one of those games that proves Ganker sucks at video games.
Arise has the best combat in the series (not a high bar) and homosexuals like haven't actually played it.
>(not a high bar)
this. I find it hilarious how Talesgays pretend the series isn't artespamming shit for 10 seconds every fight. Some moron will post a webm of a 100 hit combo where they do 1 damage, but the games don't play like that at all.
Tales before Arise had the most autistic combat I have ever experienced in a video game. So it makes sense a couple of schizos here hate Arise for improving the combat.
What does autistic combat even mean? You threaten the enemies with social situations?
It means the combat is simple, repetitive and predictable.
What? No. You fully charge up a blazing sword technique for moronic amounts of damage then order Shionne to heal you.
Comboing normal enemies ends regular battles instantly. Reigning slash is only good on bosses if you're scared of using the blazing sword.
You dodgeroll and Reigning Slash. That's about the same combat as souls.
>GAMES I DON'T LIKE NEED TO STOP EXISTING
Imagine being this self-centered.
It ain't just about me not liking it. No one fricking likes the combat and diehard fans admit it's bad but still say you should play it anyways in spite of that.
No frickin thanks
Most games like this just have something to compensate for stuff like bad combat though
combat is one of the better parts of that game
its everything else that sucks
>garbage cast
>extremely shallow locations and story
>sterile environments
The locations and environments were a substantial improvement over the other recent entries.
On a base level, it doesn’t feel bad to play. It doesn’t have the most depth around, but it controls well and actions feel nice. So I’m not sure what it is that bothers me about the bosses, because I always hated fighting them in this game.
bosses have super armor which is really annoying especially when paired with huge amount of health
I thought that was the problem, but I played Final Fantasy 16 recently and it felt a lot more tolerable to play. Not that it was great either, but I finished it at least. So I really don’t know.
I wanted to finish Arise because I was interested in the story (somehow) but I ended up uninstalling it. The combat is so boring. Holy shit.
>and every other game in the series is even worse
Who says this?
People who haven't played Any of the games in the series arise included.
>homosexual talks with other homosexuals about not appreciating Tales
not my fault you have no taste
Almost all Tales games are comfy and kino
Especially Arise, which contains heterosexual romance that triggers troons 😉
Exhibit A
>the combat isn't that bad, just ignore it and play for the story, which is also shit
this is the kind of game that needs to be purged
The combat is fine, the issue is that enemies are damage sponges and get hyper armor, which kills combos. The whole game seems to be balanced around the MC who sacrifices health for higher burst.
>The combat is fine,
No it's not. Play another fricking tales game, I'm sick you morons acting like the only issue is that bosses aren't combo-able. That is only the tip of the iceberg.
>playing tales of for the combat
The same level of homosexualry that pollutes FE right here.
>posting this alongside Rutee, whose game is one of the most widely praised for its combat
Nani
>it shouldn't matter that the action in this action rpg fricking sucks
rope now
Daim i love this artist so much, ai can't replicate that well.
>playing tales of for the combat
>playing Tales for the characters or story
Only morons do this. Most stories and characters are shit, and there are way better games to want to coom to.
>playing tales of for the story
my ps4 pro sounded like it was about to take off into space when playing the demo, tried cleaning it, did nothing, not even Red Dead 2 does this to my system.
I love this thread! People have problems with the Tales Of series and will give overall problems, but never actually mention the individual things they hate (which is endless).
What OP is trying to say is that things have become as bad as they are due to penalties to movement and other annoyances being accepted in multiple games, when the consumer-base should have ended it within one game.
One could say that Bandai's lack of effort and high prices are to blame, but boycotting them 100% would actually solve that problem.
How do I report AI posts?
If you don't know, then you are probably AI yourself, pal.
I HATE the Tales Of series, because even the most basic aspects of it annoy me. Yet it's unique to see someone call out the playerbase for accepting it. Which is the heart of the problem. The audience going after that actress and trying to hunt down Baba was most likely a result of so many problems coming to a head. That said, Square Enix opening a studio for him, then almost immediately shutting it down, sure shows how bad the state of JRPGs is.
My main issue with the combat was the boss fights. You spend all this time learning cool combos and synergies between skills that you can't do at all against bosses cause they can't be staggered at all. Meaning you can't combo/juggle them at all, meaning most of my boss fights consisted of spamming one skill. It feels so shit.
That's what made the bossfights interesting: I actually had to focus and learn their attacks to play around them. One good dodge and positioning meant I could continue my combo.
Stunlocking would just make the bosses braindead easy and repetitive.
>That's what made the bossfights interesting
Indeed, spamming your slowmo dodge as you chip away at bloated health bars is so very interesting
Why would you spam dodge? Get gud, scrub
Most of these games where you're expected to fill up some form of stagger meter to make the boss vulnerable are doing it all wrong if you ask me. Somehow Star Ocean 6 was the one game I thought did it right.
You know you fricked up when Alphen feels better to play in goddamn Rays than his own game
>>"yep it's bad and every other game in the series is even worse
Literally nobody said this.
>get ready to deal with it for another 20 hours teehee!
this describes every JRPG to ever exist
I was always told Vesperia had one of the better Tales of combat systems and it literally unironically takes 20+ hours for it to open up and actually become fun.
Yeah and locking the skills behind a points system didn't help. It's still good, but Xillia 2 perfects the linear type Tales games.
It's fun as soon as you get into Manual Cancelling tho
I've played vesperia 3-4 times and never once used manual cancelling. I fricking hate full manual mode, attacks whiff constantly.
I generally find the 2D movement does a good enough job of aiming so that you mostly worry about the spacing but I can see it taking some getting used to.
Honestly, if you never bothered with manual cancelling I can see how it'd be rough for you, combat is sluggish as all hell without it. Almost made me drop it when I first picked it up.
Have you played Abyss? I think it should prove much more enjoyable for you since it doesn't require you jump through that hoop, there's way less endlag by default.
>Have you played Abyss?
It was my first Tales game, and I still think it's the best one. I like Vesperia a lot too. Never tried manual mode in any Tales game, of which I've played many.
Has anyone here played Sword and Fairy 7?
I'm currently playing that through Gaypass and it's actually surprisingly fun despite my dislike for team based ARPGs.
Is Arise in any way comparable or did the Chinks copy a different ARPG series?
why theres 2 Tales threads ?
Its good tho
Something about the hit feedback in this game is just awful. I dunno if they ever fixed it from the demo, but everything feels like hitting a tire with a shitty bat
The game was great
Nice easy going JRPG with cool visuals and boy meets girl story
No your series was never good and no your whining wont change the game being successful
The Symphonia-to-Vesperia system worked fine, it's not the most tactically deep thing but not everything needs to be some DMC/Ninja Gaiden shit and other Tales games suffer from being boring.
I respect this game for actually giving players a satisfying ending for the main ship. So sick of getting blue balled in JRPGs.
Does the DLC add any good scenes between them? If it does, I might get it when it goes on a big sale.
>One time OP isn't a homosexual
The game is all style no substance and cringe af. I stop playing after beating the monkey staff dude and making it to the ship section. Just a whole lotta cringe.
As someone who never played Tales before but picked this up on sale just recently. Why do you guys say the combat is bad? I'm enjoying it pretty well on Moderate difficulty. Just reached the third city and met Kisara's brother. Story is fine, just your typical fantasy anime shit. But I have to say, the two Lords that I've fought so far is a, let's just say not a fun experience. Especially Ganabelt. Frick that DPS check. Also that dragon that would swoop in after a couple of chains. Fricking hell, I did manage to kill it after a couple of flees. Wanna ask, is there a way to fill up the combo/command gauges on the left. I want to use Rinwell's command since she can cancel any charging spells. She so useful against the dragon. I really only learnt to use that ability against the dragon.
The boost gauge just refills after a certain amount of time. You can speed it up with skills and/or equipment, but your actions in battle have no effect on it.
That kinda sucks ngl. I thought it worked like the ATB meter in VIIRemake.
They dropped the multiplayer, bummer.
I've played through a bunch of tales games and most of them I did it multiplayer
Vesperia is the only one of these I've been able to finish. These games are too damn long.
