where is pathfinder, divinity original sin and baldur's gate 3?
>pathfinder
nostalgia bait
>divinity original sin
maybe
>baldur’s gate 3
nostalgia bait
We don't have a clue of what exactly Baldur's Gate III is. Those that pay attention to comics and other outside lore, as well as interviews, can see from a mile they're setting up something related to CHARNAME. Every single Origin/party member is directly named in the datamines, except one - "The Kid".
>pathfinder
>nostalgia bait
????????????????
Pathfinder was published well over decade ago, that's old enough for nostalgia.
Pathfinders business model was built around catering to 3rd edition players that refused to move to better systems
>that refused to move to better systems
like what? 5E?
4E.
Based 4e Chad.
I will always be disappointed that there's no proper 4e video game. The shitty Neverwinter MMO doesn't count since it doesn't use any of 4e's mechanics. 4e would've been perfect for a turn-based RPG or even a full-blown tactics game. Regardless of whether or not you like it as a tabletop game most of the common complaints are moronic and its actual flaws are far easier to fix than 3.5e's flaws, but that aside, for a video game it's objectively better than 3.5e and by extension 5e as well since that's mostly just a braindead clone of 3.5e.
Same. Shitty P&P game, D&Dfinder is in general, but would have made an absolutelty fricking great SRPG.
>pathfinder
In the trash where it belongs
Pathfinder is best. They can release 100 different games, and you could play all 100 games with a different class.
pathfinder is on /tg/
Its bait, anon.
>Deadfire
No.
>Deadfire
Yes
No wonder Deadfire flopped if this is the marketing Obshitian has LMAO
>either a bait or really shit taste
Small brain confirmed.
>be me
>browsing /vrpg/
>what's this? A Pentiment thread?
>aww yis.
>enter thread.
I literally can't talk enough about Pentiment but to get to you question OP, I don't think whatever game this is can in anyway compare to the sheer brilliance that is Pentiment. The game is so packed full of deep intellectual concepts that I'm surprised there's even a large enough following for P (Pentiment) that threads about it to appear. Not that I'm complaining :).
P (Pentiment) has one of the deepest and well thought out gameplay in any game I've ever played. It's cut through all the rooty tooty point and shooty "gameplay" (that other games waste their time on) and gets to the real meat of any game.... the story. I truly can't express how how shocked I was (well I can, I lived through the "trump years") that there are people who don't like P (Pentiment). It's probably just their preconceived notions on what a "game" has to be. These same people probably also have antiquated ideas about women, race, and religion as well. So in short most detractors of this game are incels.
>end rant.
Thanks for reading guys.
Nobody is going to talk about penitent because this is /vrpg/ and it's full of morons like OP who don't understand that you don't need to bait shitposting and inane banter to keep threads alive.
Why are people talking about playing Pentiment when Steam says it's not out until November? Is there a pre-release copy you can play somewhere? Hadn't heard of it before but game looks sick
Storygays showing their final form: Californians making glorified VNs. This is their take on the hypothetical height of the genre. "Game" designers creating "gameplay" in dialogue editors.
I see nothing wrong with this, storygays will get their CYOA VN while we gameplaychads will get our autistic hardcore story-free dungeon crawling combat simulators.
Rpgs are only remembered for the story, the choice, the consequences. The rpgs that only have combat are forgotten.
Rpgs with out gameplay are just books. No one wants to play a book. They want to play roleplaying games. Those rpgs you talk about wouldn't be remembered if they did not have gameplay to get people invested into to the story.
explain to me right now how to choose dialogue options or pass/fail skill checks in a book
>roll dice.
>passed check? Turn to page 237.
>failed check? Turn to page 30.
Easy peasy homosexual.
Disco Elysium and this new Pentiment game are just glorified books with skill checks put in to determine which page you turn to. They are not rpgs because they lack a core element of a rpg, gameplay.
CYOA books were very popular in the 80s and 90s. You both should learn more about rpgs before trying to discuss them.
but anon, those were GAMEbooks. almost as if they were considered GAMES
I know. I agree with you anon.
>hur dur durrrrrr.
>cyoa books in da 80s were popular!
Yes, and I have a few still laying around somewhere. They are fun to read but they are not games nor would they be fun to play if you implemented skill checks to determine which page you turn to as in these glorified VNs.
>They are fun to read but they are not games
they were litterally called gamebooks. FACTS AND LOGIC. cope seethe and dilate, libtard
>THEY ARE GAMES!
Kek. A stupid marketing gimmick to sell cheaply written trash to d&d nerds in the 80s anon. Do you also think healthy choice microwavable meals are actually healthy for you?
>Kek. A stupid marketing gimmick to sell cheaply written trash
oh so now the problem is that they weren't written well enough?
>being wilfully obtuse.
No. They could have been the best books ever written and it still wouldn't change the fact that they are not game. The problem is that they were labeled "games" as a way to sell them to d&d nerds in the 80s not that they were actual games. It was just a marketing gimmick to sell books to d&d nerds.
Everyone considers them games anon. It’s interesting to see much of the crpg audience, like yourself, devolve so much these days that they only know about video games. You and them seem completely rootless and without knowledge of the Tabletop and history that spawned the video games, only being aware of DnD because of Baldur’s Gate.
CYOA books are not tabletop RPGs just because they used D&D branding. You're rationalizing being a storygay.
Then why are they allowed on /tg/ and called GAMEBOOKS? Huh?
Unbeatable argument. You win.
>he thinks video games and video rpgs were spawned by d&d
why are you moronic d&d cross boarders so dumb and deranged.
>not knowing the history of video games
>on an RPG-board
Some of the earliest video games were RPGs who were modeled after CYOA-Books and tabletop to simulate Dungeoncrawling.
I hate zoomers so much its unreal, they wear the ignorance like a badge of honor.
no they weren't. Stop lying on the internet you dumb ass no games frog
>They are fun to read but they are not games nor would they be fun to play if you implemented skill checks to determine which page you turn to as in these glorified VNs.
>Never played the greatest CYOA Fabled Lands
Ngmi
>No one wants to play a book
Speak for yourself, that would be pretty interesting.
This is so wrong on so many levels, this is wrong even if I wished it to be true. You should lose your posting privileges for a week for posting such a brain fart.
If that was the case Persona 2 would be... Well you know, remembered.
We're sending them all to hell.
Cope, combattroony. This entire genre is for us storychads to enjoy. The story and the dialogue are what makes or breaks an Rpg, and that means the logical endpoint is perfecting dialogue gameplay
>combattroony
>storychads
lol
lmao even
You just know anon is seething when they reply like this
You just know an anon is dilating when they reply like this.
Its always been writers gays being jerked off by wannabe writers
Let's not kid ourselves: balanceman is a cheap corner cutter
If you can dazzle the kids with hipster rhetoric you can make unfinished games with shitty ship combat or even a VN and they'll buy it because the wokeshit era gave everyone stockholme syndrome.
In prior eras the one man band developer could compel you with cutting edge everything, now not so much because he's just putting a bad twist on roads well traveled instead of being able to cut a new path through the digital wilderness (which is now a George Floyd sanctuary suburbian dog park anyway).
Explain to the people at home who aren’t 10 levels deep into schizodom who balanceman is
>not knowing who the balanceman is
go back to >>>Ganker with all the other filthy casuals.
>Trying to pass a RPG Cuckdex meme as something /vrpg/ would know what the frick you're talking about
Go back
Balanceman is probably Josh Sawyer.
This is how I like my autists, verbose and unwashed. I approve.
All of these are very fun. I love CRPGs
*devolving
and they have been doing that for well over a decade
Excellent.
20IQ detected.
true
>deadfire
P R E T T Y
F I S H
Deadfire is boring and shit.
Disco elysium is boring and shit.
Cope & dial8 trannies.
It's got Sawyer leading so at the very least we know it's gonna be shit to play.
I swear the man couldn't design fun to save his life.
I suppose it's good that most people go to obsidian for story/setting instead of gameplay but still.
That's cute. Did your wives' boyfriends recommend those for you?
...into western VNs.
No thanks, Id rather stay with the jap ones.
Sawyersimps get the rope, no exception.
Completely accurate.
the only difference between planetscape torment and disco elysium is that the former has combat, both are words words words words
if anything this is a downgrade at best
>everything that has words in it is the same
Extremely low IQ take. Why do I have to share a board with you subhumans?
