Takes you guys 10 days, and that's not counting the time it takes for you to make the trailer and the paid shilling and the pay-offs to the game journalists for the change. 10 minutes worth of code to add this to your troony barbie sex doll simulator "RPG".

Possibly they want to set up a plausible in-world means of doing it, which could mean a new location, new NPC, new dialogue, new quest... probably all small scale, but it could add up.
Not making excuses for them, but I can easily imagine a scenario where they want something more interesting than a 10min job of slapping on a "showracemenu" command (though I would prefer this freedom tbqh).
I don't get why this wasn't a feature at release. They bigged up the whole "BE WHAT YOU WANT TO BE SISTER!!!" thing during their extensive marketing campaign but you can't even change your hairstyle after character creation. This is basic shit. Never mind the fact the customisation is pretty weak to begin with since you're locked into using one of 5 faces and only 1 of them ever looks natural on white people.

Here you idiots go. Someone wrote info on how to use your handy dandy dev toolkit. You don't even have to code it all manually. Get the change done already, you should have it finished by tomorrow.
It's kinda the repeat of the Kickstarter renaissance for the genre - people want EVERY game to be a 10/10 GOTY and appeal to them specifically. Truth is CRPGs have never been more VARIED than in the last decade or so. That doesn't mean everyone who liked Pillars of Eternity would, for example, enjoy Serpents in the Staglands as well.
you can tell it's the devs first game as it is rough around the corners, but immense effort was put into the world and visuals are love or hate. just keep in mind if you start playing it either STICK with the game to the end or take notes as it's one of those that has no in-game reminders or anything. so you'll forget what you were supposed to be doing and sits expects you to remember.
1. Disco LEysium was an interesting experiment, no argument here.
2. PoE was souless.
3. First half of Kingmaker is quite good. It turns into trash after the lichclops.
4. WotR is more even... but leaning towards trash.
5. BG3... oh boy. I just ended Act II. I've never seen a cRPG with a combat so good. And so much respect for player's choices and approaches to problems. And so... horrible, horrible writing. Even WotR is better here, holy shit.
Are Belgians alien or something? This doesn't even feel like something written by human beings. I'm talking main plot here and most of companions.
Some smaller stuff is solid.
its seems to just be quickload until you hit and the enemy misses.
cutscene, battle begins, some hyena rolls higher initiative, deals me 19 dmg, i only got 30hp total
what exactly am i supposed to do? where is the tactic in spending 9 out of 10 minutes in the loading screen until their misses and my hits add up to them losing?
i cant miss my hits, i only get one chance per round. i cant take their hits, my people and me die after the second or third hit.
i dont have enough healing or damage spells at level 3 to make a difference
i did just fine on higher difficulties in pillars of eternity or wrath of the righteous, but what the frick am i supposed to do in this game? what is the trick that makes it all work?
im honestly asking, i bought the game and want to play it but so far i fricking hate it
Combat on normal difficulty is rather on the easy side, except some bosses I guess.
You must be missing something. Like some very basic thing.
What are your armor class values. What is your party?
Armour class? Buffs and debuffs? Using enviroment to your advantage? Barrelmancy? Jumping to extend your melee combatants range? Taking out enemies one by one, instead of spamming attacks at every enemy in range?
im hoping lvl 4 will give me a huge boost, otherwise ill try switching the difficulty to normal, and if that doesnt help ill play something else.
i dont want to spend what little time i have for viddy games staring at the loading screen
I’d probably play on normal for your first game, and I’d do tactician once you’re familiar with the game and the items and feats and spells etc. That’s what I’m doing and I played PotD/tactician/etc before.
17AC is pretty mediocre, you’re gonna get hit a lot like that. I’d go for the best heavy armor you can find asap and maybe throw on “shield of faith” spell and pick the “defense” fighting style (dunno what your char is I’m guessing a paladin or fighter”
Also 5e combat is just really swingy and RNG dependent. I’m not a huge fan of it, it feels bad
Actually it looks like you’re already wearing chain? I assumed that was scale. What’s your dex? You basically want to have 14 for a +2 ac if you’re gonna wear medium armor, or dump it to 10 for a heavy armor build. Heavy armor allows you to dump dex but doesn’t pull ahead AC-wise until plate armor.
>I’d go for the best heavy armor you can find asap
and where would i find anything better than my 16AC chainmail?
im wearing the best armor i have, and i did pick defensive fighting
most games have some type of trick you need to play efficiently.
in gothic it was knowing where to go to find level appropriate enemies, in baldurs gate 1 it was getting the right companions early, in wrath of the righteous it was minmaxing the character
maybe in bg3 its knowing how to get some high level items early.

Yeah see above, I mistook the armor you were wearing.
Honestly a big part of it is the design “philosophy” of 5e. They called it bounded accuracy. They tried to limit the range of possibilities into a narrow band and reduce outliers and stacking bonuses (like in 3e you could get AC high enough to only be hit on a nat 20, and if that were the case you would likely only take a regular hit and not a crit. Here there’s no confirming crits so if they get a 20 you get a crit). They tried to prevent chars from being either too good or too shitty to make it easier for DMs to balance vs monsters.
The result is that it feels very swingy and RNG dependent unless you do stuff like use chars sneaking outside of combat and lock enemies down with surprise rounds and CC.
I’d do your first run on normal, honestly

Also they did an annoying thing and lock vendor inventories to your character level. So better shit isn’t for sale at low levels. I’ve thought about editing the vendor file to all level ranges and see what pops up. It’s the same file as the treasure table

Larian fits perfectly how people roleplay today as you can see on various streams and channels dedicated to live action play. First two games emulated how it was done in the 80s and 90s. The way i see it if they step back they`ll become just another CRPG at this point. The rebirth flame origins ignited would consume them. On the other hand if they keep going on the direction they are going their games will lose all identity and end up just like Final Fantasy did.

Grim.
Finished installing Baldur Gate 3 what class is the best i want to focus more on the dating parts and not be worrying about the combat too much.
Class choice doesn't matter for romances.

PoE 1 eder was such a great companion
Should Bioware kneel and step back to make the next games on Origins vein or should they keep trying for the perfect balance between action and RPG mechanics?
The way i see it if they step back they`ll become just another CRPG at this point. The rebirth flame origins ignited would consume them. On the other hand if they keep going on the direction they are going their games will lose all identity and end up just like Final Fantasy did.
Are they finished?
>CRPGs have never been more made for normalgays
FTFY
RPG fans are like Star Wars fans, if they stop and think for 1 minute they will realize that there is not a single good entry
