I know you're joking but it was a pain in the ass to look for Amazon porn when I was younger because of them

Almost like you can't throw money at random to get games that sell well.

New World did sell well, the game was marketed (shilled) well it just sucks.

Amazon has a moronic amount of money dude. Let me explain this to you. Do you remember The Lord of Rings: Rings of Power? Most expensive television show ever made. It lost money... but guess what? The second season of this show is currently in post production. They show failed both critically, finally and audience reception was inherently negative. Amazon doesn't play by the same rules as everyone else.

Another based thing Amazon is doing in addition to their game catalogue is the upcoming Warhammer 40k series with Henry Cavill. And you know we all love Warhammer, we have constant threads up about Rogue Trader, Boltgun, and upcoming favorites like Space Marine 2. It's all thanks to Amazon and investors in GW who believed in the project enough, based companies like Blackrock and Vanguard who funded it with their ESG system, something about looking for projects with the power to shape the future positively.

All this stuff is beyond me but, just believe me, it's gonna be fricking awesome. I hope all your favorite series get a benefactor like this, bros.

Amazon keeps trying to make video games the same way it makes everything else, they throw money at the project and use a rapid-iteration shotgun blast to shit out whatever comes out of the process, then ideally build on the ones that work. What they somehow haven't learned in a decade is that the mindset that works for consumer electronics and for software doesn't work for media, despite the fact their internal engine was a failure, all their first party games have been failures, and everything they publish has been Asian MMOs chosen for their ability to provide player metrics more than to be good games.

They only exist because they don't need to be profitable on their own, they just need to seem like a good idea to some VP who hopefully thinks of something other than Pac-man when he hears "video games". Eventually they'll throw in the towel and start making AI tools that automatically generate SFM porn.

heh, their films and tv shows are the same way. do your remember Rings of Power? Or have you forgotten about the most expensive show in television history like everyone else on this godforsaken website?

Why did they publish Korean p2w slop anyways in the West amyways? It just seems like a strange selection for a company like Amazon.

Amazon also published both vikings (top tier kino) and the lost rings (absolute garbage)

It's a beast of a company with many secular subdivisions

Three main reasons, each of which does make genuine sense if you think like a corporation.
      >Amazon is a company built on harvesting ungodly amounts of data and recirculating it between divisions. Unit sales data on Amazon was used to inform what devices Kindle built, what features AWS prioritized, what companies like Audible or Twitch were acquired. It's all a morass of interconnected data, and MMOs generate a LOT of data.
      >No one else would touch these KMMOs due to the amount of translation/westernization required (not just putting shirts on the e-girls and adding non-white people but also altering the P2W elements to ones that Americans would accept) but also the sheer size of them and the fact no one outside the asian market wanted to play them anyway. Once Amazon showed they could do it with Lost Ark the other companies came running, even if the actual results weren't great.
      >Amazon fricking loves investments with a long tail. Most MMOs buster out and die, but the ones that stick around have a diehard contingent who will spend money on it forever. If you, like Amazon, have more money than sense and are willing to treat publishing entire MMOs like gacha pulls? They're just hoping the next one's an SSR baybee.

Honestly I wish they jumped on the Korean game publishing train earlier. Closers and other games around that time took years to get to the west and most lost interest by the time it came out. Now the same group of people who used to hop these types of games, hop mobile gacha games instead.

Good games? Imagine if instead of spending X millions on an MMO they published a hundred promising indie games just to see what happened? Amazon could singlehandedly revitalize the AA space with the amount of money they're throwing around. Give Embracer a reason to sweat.

          >indie games
the ratio of good/bad indie games is worse than aaa. aa games are not indie games

People tend to forget/not know that there are literally hundreds of indie games released every week and maybe 1 of them isn't complete shit, maybe.
