I played Soul Silver years ago, so I’ve had enough “vanilla Johto” to where I can move on to the improvement hacks now. Honestly, I’m just playing this so I can get context for stuff like Prism and Glazed.
>I’ve had enough “vanilla Johto” to where I can move on to the improvement hacks now.
this is where i'm at with the first 3 gens right now...i've played through kanto so many times across so many gens for literal decades i need SOMETHING to spice it up
It isn't. It does not understand Pokemon Crystal nor "modern" games, both which were things it's aiming to be.
It's literally just "another hack", instead of what it wanted to be.
There's nothing shitty about a game being a game with intentional design decisions instead of just appealing to smogon autists.

Better than giving Lance a zapdos for no good reason kek

I'm pretty sure the reason is because gamefreak forgot to put dragon types in the game kek

Ah yes, zapdos, the dragon type Pokémon

Yeah, how did legacy "fix" this?
Let me guess they gave her an ampharos and ruined her theme, perfect

Draconic sea like creatures. She has 2 Dragonair's, Lapras, Gyrados and Kingdra. Much better team and still fits Clair's theme.

She's supposed to mirror Lance's Dragonites moron.

Is she really supposed to mirror him or is it just a consequence of the fact that there's only a single evolution line of dragon types and one(1) added as a new evolution of an existing pokemon?

Please explain to me how Morty is supposed to get Misdreavus, a Pokemon that only appears in Mt. Silver, a location only available to Champion-level trainers, the government and high profile celebrities.

Gym Leaders are basically celebrities.

Morty's more of a local figure than a world-famous celebrity, thoughever.

Maybe in Fanfiction Johto, but Misdreavus appears exclusively in Mt. Silver in GSC.

Do you complain about HGSS giving her better availability too?

Misdreavus appears in the safari zone aka not her natural habitat

How is making a mediocre Pokemon like Misdreavus unavailable until the literal end of the game “good game design”?

Not mediocre at all.

it was so mediocre they later gave it an evolution so it wouldn't be worthless
I wouldn't even care if they didn't specifically lay out that the intent is to keep the feel of Crystal while making it more modern.
And then they frick up both, because of course they did.
It's not Crystal, and it's not modern, it's literally my moms romhack.
What would you add to a Crystal hack to keep the original feel while improving it? Just general QoL like BW2 repels, running shoes, party sprites, maybe Polished's new PC?

she wants more time based events, no level curve, and zero gen 2 mons in johto
fixes a bunch fo shitmons, shit moves, movepools, the level curve, and gym/e4 teams and thats about it. plus adds overworld/menu sprites for all the pokemon. its pretty simple but it makes for a nice experience. I'd call it Vanilla+ honestly its not TOO much harder at least not til the e4.

With the starter on a gen 1-2 game, I'll just soft reset along with savestates and compare stats until one is clearly highest or equal on every relevant stat, I might forgive a stat or something being a point off if I've been struggling to get primary damage stat + speed, etc. I know it won't have the highest possible DVS but it'll be a damn sight better than most of the shitter's down the line.
With other Pokémon I'll usually save, catch 5, compare, savestate over the best, and reset, and usually end up picking between highest attack and hp or highest defenses and speed. Occasionally I'll level to top contenders up a bit to get an idea of things.
I have noticed though that after some time, I'll keep catching/choosing the 'same' Pokémon, identical stats, level up, etc. seems like it could be to do with all the secret background numbers, along with maybe rolling a couple of nature's ~10 times apiece and not getting others at all. I think it may be something about game memory and needing to hard reset sometimes? It's even more prevalent in later gens where I'll soft reset for nature/ability and keep getting the same combos, being unable to get anything outside of the 10 or so different variants until I hard reset.
DESU, the bird trio shouldn’t even be legendaries. They have no lore. They have no divine power. They’re just… big strong birds. There’s nothing “legendary” about that.
That's what makes them legendaries, no ones knows shit about them. No one knows where they're from, why they're so strong, rarely people even survive an encounter with them.
never tried crystal legacy, but I'm giving crystal clear a go for the first time right now and it's already one of the best fan games I've played in general. balance mods are cool and all but prone to the sensibilities of the author, I'd rather just play vanilla
And imagine, if only you played real Crystal, it'd be even better.

It's Crystal+ and it does it very well.
I googled it to see if you were right and you're right.
>"Improved" level scaling
>"improved" Pokemon distribution
>"Fixing" gym leader teams
You're right. It fundamentally misunderstands the intentions behind Johto's game design. Always the same shit with these "improvement" hacks.
>you just don't understand! it's supposed to be shitty!

And the worst part? This romhack was just made to satisfy the crowd of imbeciles that Jan created

It's literally the best way to play Crystal. Cope
catch me still resetting for better DVs...
what does the hack change?
fixes a bunch fo shitmons, shit moves, movepools, the level curve, and gym/e4 teams and thats about it. plus adds overworld/menu sprites for all the pokemon. its pretty simple but it makes for a nice experience. I'd call it Vanilla+ honestly its not TOO much harder at least not til the e4.
oh yeah and mon distribution so there's a lot more options around
does it have running shoes / 60 fps
My autistic homie

Is this the one that gives Lance a Zapdos?
Yeah and it's kino
Yes, and it's also the one its creator shills as god's gift to earth after nuzlocking his own hack.
god I wanna frick amy
What the frick
>hack gives gym leaders or elite 4 legendaries
hack is shit
simple as
Every Elite 4 should always have minimum 1 Legendary
DESU, the bird trio shouldn’t even be legendaries. They have no lore. They have no divine power. They’re just… big strong birds. There’s nothing “legendary” about that.

How do people simultaneously not know shit about them but also rarely survive encounters with them?
Moltres is also just hanging out right in the open in Victory Road what the frick is so mysterious about that?
we lost
>Togepi as big as the trainer
>Houndour facing away from the camera
For me its Pokewilds.
I'm so sick of "old region, but some of the trainers are different" hacks.
looks comfy, i will buy a rg35xx to play gbc games, im not paying over $200 for a old ass gbc
>NOOOOO YOU CAN'T GIVE A POWERFUL TRAINER LIKE LANCE OR RED A LEGENDARY.
Lmao when autists cry about shit like this
No one is going to play your shitty romhack m8
their one friend in 4th grade said all legendaries are too strong, so using them is cheating
if there was a section in gsc that required the player to eat their own shit johtogays would defend it
don't care about shitty vanilla hacks, but is the powkiddy worth it tho?
never tried crystal legacy, but I'm giving crystal clear a go for the first time right now and it's already one of the best fan games I've played in general. balance mods are cool and all but prone to the sensibilities of the author, I'd rather just play vanilla

wow just like... regular crystal
So fricking sick of poketuber spicBlack folk and their homosexualry. The world would be a better place if OP and all of them were dead.
