I also wished CS turn to be as popular as real sports, but after I found out that orgs overpay their players, I can't help but praising Valve for not taking esports too seriously.
Currently Activision is struggling with orgs owe them hundred millions of dollars, while Riot had to deal with players went on strike just because they are going to close the academy league, a problem CS orgs casually solved by sending the academy to CCT and the likes instead. Valve really dodge the bullet big time.
OWL had a $20 million dollar entry fee for a league with a total prize pool of about 2 million.
As a fellow Asian, I can ensure you that majority of people don't care about esports outside of the terms and the one who 'care' only have surface level of knowledge.

Being the best player has as much to do with knowing intuitively where to go on the map, where and when to peak, where to pre-aim, etc then it does on raw aim alone. I think any star player is held back by not being their own IGL frankly. Yekindar is about to prove me right again.

cadian is not a rifler and not an exceptional awp, just a good igl. in 2023 he's the 3rd best player on his team despite the statistical boost of awping being easy, and not even the 10th best awp in the scene. even an exceptional run of form was not enough to take an mvp from their 2nd-best rifler. he's a "star" after being an igl for years, not vice versa. his team is extremely independent and vocal, and they call mid-round strats constantly and autonomously. none of this is easily replicable, and every star rifler igl has failed, almost always in stats (relative to peak before/after) and results
the problem with your idea is that a star player with a feel for the game can always overcall the igl in a midround or freezetime situation where they see something, without handling all the legwork and mental pressure, and also giving them the option of just focusing on their crosshair or tilting without completely destroying the team. g2 members mentioned niko taking over calling completely during last map of the blast world final vs liquid, except without an igl there's no backup when he cools down from this

it was an opportunistic as frick move ahead of CS2, but i think it's good. FlameZ is younger and more motivated than dupreeh, the rest of the squad has no comm issues now and they are all used to English and FlameZ comes from an English speaking roster so i have a reason to believe the transition will be smooth. FlameZ from interviews seems like a pretty smart and adaptable guy, I think at worst they will stay around the same level of play as they did for the past few months.
but i agree it's a bit fricked to do it to dupreeh, until this was announced i really believed it was mostly his decision to step down a bit.

OG didn't play defaults that much, they had set-pieces where FlameZ was 99% the most aggro player (except when they set up degster for a play), it's actually written in the article and he makes a point of that. he's a great replacement for dupreeh in that regard.
they will need to adapt CT side and it actually looks great to me because he overlaps with the worst player (apex) so he can give FlameZ the playmaking positions with more space, especially conn, i'm almost sure FlameZ will be playing that, maybe even right from the beginning. it would be a much bigger problem if it were ZywOo, Spinx and Magisk overlapping on most maps.
i'm not a fan of this guy but this write up is pretty good.

Yeah they either make some relatively small changes now while they have a good opportunity or they have to replace dupreeh, magisk and apex all together probably not that far down the line. As much as I like dupreeh and I hate to see him go and I hate to see them break up the little piece of good Astralis they had going I grudgingly accept that it probably makes sense long term.
They're still fricked though when they have to replace apex. This kind of opportunity to swap in some young blood without fricking up the whole system just isn't going to come up for an igl, especially one who is the face and the heart of the team.

How is the 500X? Was thinking of picking one up as a daily ride that I can take camping sometimes. Currently just got a 300R which I can use for city riding.
Honestly I find riding a motorbike oddly safer than driving just because you have a lot of horizontal movement you can do while riding so you can maneuver around things easier.

It's my first bike so take all thoughts with that in mind. I've had it for 3 months and put 3500km on it.
I bought it brand new off the floor, at first I didn't love it because it felt like it ran out of speed near the top end. I've only ever managed to get it up to 100mph/160kmh. But the more I ride it the more I got used to making its powerband work. Its linear the whole way through and loves to be in the top end of its rev range, while being lightweight and nimble (even for an adv). You have to plan your overtakes in advance but you get used to that. I've taken windy mountain roads averaging 130-140kmh the whole way, splitting between traffic, passing on the shoulders, driving like a maniac flicking the bike across the road with 0 problems. I've loaded it up with duffel bags and taken it out in the boonies, no problems.
Its also surprisingly capable off road, even on my stock tires. I've bombed down pothole ridden forest service roads at 100km/h eating them all up, drifted through dirt roads, navigated through large rocky terrains while banging up the skidplate. No problems. Obviously it won't be as good as a dirt bike and its ability on single track is questionable - but it's great for finding out what type of riding you want to do. Touring? Off road oriented? Speed? This can compromise on all of those while being capable of it all.
Eventually I am planning on upgrading to a tenere 700 once I get more distance and experience under my belt. However I came to the realization if someone put a gun to my head and told me I had to ride this cb500x for the rest of my life, I'd be perfectly fine with it.
Yeah it's basically what I wanted it for was basic adventuring not going like crazy off road but still good enough for taking long distances and onto trails and such for camping. In Australia you're limited to 650CC max for your first couple of years on your motorbike license so was thinking a 500X would be one of my best bets and people generally seem to like them. ABS not being toggleable is my only real concern with it.

I believe you can either yank the 7.5a fuse out or easily make an inline switch poking out under the seat to toggle ABS. I haven't tried it myself yet because I'm too excited to keep riding.
Ah that's probably pretty easy to do then. Was gonna get one most likely anyway as an upgrade and general life bike. Only thing left really is building a motorbike friendly camping kit.

They give you free lineups in the HUD and in the minimap and a lot of them even show the aoe of the abilities. Some of them you straight up just click on the map where you want them to go. I think the only abilities that don't do this are ones that you throw like a traditional nade.

he's right about needing tournaments for development, in 2019 liquid played 8 in NA and an additional 4 domestic leagues. in 2022 they played 1. in fact, there was only 1 domestic lan where 2 top 30 teams played.
the problem is that esl got paid to put epl in malta for 2 years (4 seasons) through 2024. not only did they kill the domestic leagues, they went from a 5 day lan final in an arena (odense, dallas, sao paulo) to a >1 month lan played in front of a waiting room with <200 people, and it's played twice a year. every other tournament is following this trend too, getting longer and longer and leaving less space for variety or travel
