>currently live in Japan
>yen inflation has hit new high
>Look at Switch lite prices
>210.000¥ = 140€
>switch in EU is 210€
>same shit for games
>basically feels like a huge discount
>Will move out in 1 week so im thinking about taking this opportunity while i can
Should i bite the bullet and get a switch and some games? Ive been waiting to hear about NINTENDOS new console but nothing yet.
Which games should i get? Right now i am thinking
>TotK
>BotW
>Oddisey
>M Dread
>Mario Maker
>Smash
>mario Kart 8
>sonic frontiers
Maybe
>bayo 3
>bayo 2
>links awakening remake
>nier automata
>astral chain
What is xenoblade like? Is it a full blown autist game like Nier Replicant im the sense of open world fetch quest and empty map? I hated that game.
Nothing Ever Happens Shirt $21.68 |
I think you should get it. I just wanted to ask how is life in Japan as a gaijin?
>Lived here for 1 year
>was fun but got burned out
>living in a shitty 1 room apt for 800€ outside of tokyo is not fun
>Going back home
Probably gonna regret it but i can always come back
ESL teacher?
You can buy a switch, but at this point I'd question why you just wouldn't get a Steam Deck and emulator instead. It costs more, buf it you factor in all those Nintendo games you'd be saving dosh.
No i was a student.
I was thinking of a deck but its huge and i already own a laptop
There's not much difference between the sizes.
But if you want a switch, then be on the lookout for anything like games that you can't get overseas without getting assfricked by import charges. Every game you posted there is good. I'd probably also add pokemon Arceus to the list too.
>living in tokyo
You fricked up, move to Osaka or some other big cities if you wanna the Japanese life but without the exorbitant house rent. The Japanese countryside is also peak comfy but I know it's not for everyone.
>The Japanese countryside is also peak comfy but I know it's not for everyone
What's it actually like to live there? It looks beautiful and comfy... but that's the first impression most would get from watching vids like these lol https://youtu.be/xsfsJUzxrv0
Peaceful. There aren't many people nearby, and most of them are elderly. There's green everywhere, and watching the rice fields go through their changes with the seasons is a real pleasure. Time moves slowly here, and people care about each other. I often exchange baked goods for fresh fruits and veggies from my neighbors.
Nowhere is perfect but that sounds god damn comfy. What do you do for work out in the countryside?
I teach English. Sure, it's become a kind of a meme, but I genuinely enjoy it and put effort into it.
Countryside is comfy in any country. I don't like the cities at all so I've got zero incentives to move out of my country.
>What is xenoblade like? Is it a full blown autist game like Nier Replicant im the sense of open world fetch quest and empty map? I hated that game.
Yes
Japan is not recovering, things will only get more expensive from now on, the era of anime is dead, they want the international audience and is killing their markets, on top of that everyone is making fake anime better due to lack of censorship
Are things that bad in japan?
globally yes, but japna's bigger problem is that they are trying to be Hollywood when hollywood is fricking dying at the same time they are trying to take moeny from inversionists that have interest in wanting them dead. They pretty much are copyi9ng everything wrong that they can. What is the point of consuming japanese produccts if they are becoming western ones but more expensive?
No, these Black folk have never been to Japan, have no idea what it's like here, and are framing the economy in terms of entertainment, video games, and anime. "Japan is never going to recover" is such a fricking moronic thing to say lmao
bu...but i saw me 20 minute youtube essay about Japanese society by a rando!
i'll be honest with you it's true for every country out there
Yeah, obviously the entire global economy is not doing great, but I think Japan is in a better position to bounce back than a lot of other places. They do not have the same kinds of problems here. It's not some perfect utopia, but it makes the shit going on in America look completely insane. Which it is.
no i meant "the internet tends to overexaggerate how bad things are in foreign countries" Britain, Scandinavia, Germany, Southern Europe, etc. all are about to collapse according to youtube
Maybe if they stop spending tax payer money on custom manholes they wouldn't have a public spending issue
Custom manholes are often paid for by private enterprises wishing to advertise. the attached jashin-chan manhole is a good example.
absolutely. they have all kinds of food and it's not only tasty but all the nutritional values are written in detail on the labels. if you keep track of what you eat you could definitely stay healthy on convenience store food.
>getting advertised to when you look down
Japs have cracked it
>Jashin-chan manhole
I love Jashin-chan but why???
>buying video games
If you have a PS4/5 or PC I suggest getting N:A through there
Japan is heading for a dark age. Their politics is getting more shaken up and people being restless.
It's unheard of to hear a 1st world country have multiple assassination attempts on their politicians in just one year
>multiple assassination attempts on their politicians in just one year
Only thing I know of is Abe due to memes. What else is going on?
Someone threw a pipbomb at the new PM
>spending >$100 on a seven year old games console
I know you're probably a zoomer but imagine spending €140 on a Sega Genesis in 1998. People would think you were fricking insane
Hardware advanced quicker back then. 1998 was one year before the Dreamcast was released. We have no news about the switch 2. This is more like buying a genesis when the saturn hasn't even been announced yet.
Which is Nintendo doing deliberately, so they can keep selling their overpriced, extremely outdated hardware.
i dont know if you noticed this but hardware stagnation isn't nintendo only, even PC is dealing with it right now
>Hardware advanced quicker back then.
I don't really agree with this. The leap between 1990 and 2000 was monumental, but technology in general is progressing faster now, it's just that the Vidya market evolved in a way that it doesn't rely on tech leaps every 5 years anymore. And even then, the Switch was "old" already on release, so moot point.
Man I think it's already extremely hard integrating with nips living in the major cities, why the frick would you live in the country side where it's beyond any doubt mathematically impossible? Unless you'd be ok being that autistic foreigner living alone and speaking to no one because everyone is even more autistic than you.
But I can second the Osaka point, that town is pretty cool.
>imagine spending €140 on a Sega Genesis in 1998. People would think you were fricking insane
People are spending that today.
>Im actually in my 30s.
>Never owned a nintendo besides GBC when I was 10.
>Want a handheld
>Deck is overkill whenni alreadybown laptop and battery life is shit and body is too bulky for a handheld
>Live in Japan
>paid in US dollars
Life is good rn
Living here is like getting a 40% raise
Yes but you should be paying taxes and social security for USA and japan.
If youre not, youre considered delinquent.
I got a mail the other day teling me i got a whole year of unpaid taxes and health security and that i should pay soon if i dont want a bad record. This can lead to not being able to buy/rent property etc in the future.
Japan is an economic prison
>not pay taxes
>government tells you to pay taxes
>"wtf how could this happen"
You're forced to pony up for the nip boomers when you're already doing so for the Black folk back home.
...like any other first world country? i wouldn't expect it to be much different for Western Europe
The US and China are the only countries that force their citizens to pay taxes even if they live abroad.
Belarus takes the difference if the income tax is lower than theirs.
Income tax is a cancer and is nothing more than theft.
US and China stealing from people not even residing in their territory takes the cake though. How the frick are they ok with that?
Sports and gacha are the only reason there hasn't been widespread revolts in either country for a million reasons
i meant, in every developed country you would have to pay heavy taxes so boomers would get their pension(for example Italy and France), and Japan is no exception
what if you just don't pay and don't go back? what are they gonna do?
>burgers have to pay US taxes even if they live abroad
No matter how many times I hear this I simply cannot fathom that it's true.
If you have the IQ (at least 100 needed) you should crack it and pirate the games
how the frick do you live in japan and not know any japanese
Where does OP say he doesn't know any Japanese?
tokyo is great and japan is the only 1st world country on earth
You can get Nintendo shit anywhere, you should fill your bags with shit you won't find home.
Not for that price though. And if that anon is willing to play games in Japanese, he can also buy tons of retro stuff for cheap. Instead of paying like 100€ for one game, it'll be closer to 1,000¥ = 6€, maybe a bit more depending on the game. But most stuff is easily below 3,000¥.
>TotK
>BotW
BotW is pretty much outclassed entirely by TotK so just get that one instead.
>Oddisey
>M Dread
>astral chain
>Smash
>mario Kart 8
All good choices.
>Mario Maker
Fun if you like playing levels of varying quality but good luck getting anyone to actually play stuff you make. The online is fun but your mileage may vary depending on your connection.
>links awakening remake
It's cute but it doesn't add anything new aside from a halfassed dungeon editor. Better controls is nice though.
>sonic frontiers
lol don't
Consider Monster Hunter Gen Ultimate and SMT V. Do not waste your time or money on any Pokemon games.
Don't fall for the nuzelda meme
honestly in that situation i'd rather buy a brand new 3ds as a spare, household items like kitchen knives, and miscellaneous things like tea leaves and pokemon cards
3DS are region locked, anon.
for 400$ (500$ with education discount and 100$ gift card in apples online store), you could get a mac mini that can do everything a computer does and the m2 base model can play switch games better than native in ryujinx
Kart 8
wait til the last expansion drops. They might make a cartridge that has all the dlc preinstalled like they did for pokemon
>arcades are insanely overrated ufo catcher medal game wastelands
>retro game hunting is an expensive waste of time
>game releases here are expensive as shit when you're not using using foreign currency
>every day is gambling at the slot parlor and drinking cheap liquor
what the frick am i doing with my life in this country
City consoomer bullshit is just empty, try enjoying nature.
Huh, a yen is two paki rupees yet the switch is 80k here
IMO Bayo 3 was trash. Same with No More Heroes 3. If you like shmups at all, I'd recommend the following:
Espgaluda II
DoDonPachi Resurrection
Ikaruga
Danmaku Unlimited 3
Mushihimesama
Crimzon Clover
Psyvariar Delta
Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX+
Blazblue Entropy Effect looks like a good game.
Buy a pre-owned Version 1 and hack it you fricking idiot. There's got to be pawn shops or used stores around asiaticville.
All you need is a serial number on the bottom to tell you if it's a V1.
What is going on with japanese economy?
I want to live in japan i don't care about the salaries
Black person I live in Japan too and bought a switch lite last month. It was 12,000円 (nobody here writes it ¥) on Mercari. 210,000円 is a monthly salary for a newly grad.
Isnt that shit 2nd hand trash? Dont wanna risk getting some kids scratched up nintendo with drifting sticks
Second hand items in Japan are virtually indistinguishable from new ones. I have lived here 9 years and the only electronic I bought new was a smartphone. Everything else including my gayman PC rig has been bought used with no issues ever. Just read the descriptions on Mercari carefully and look at the pics closely if you are worried. You do understand Japanese, right?
Go to a book-off or some other second hand shop and look what things look like. Even low grades would be near mint or excellent in the US, it's insane. The worst I got was the Tingle game where the contacts eroded enough to make it unplayable, but then I could just turn it in again.
Got a New 3DS from book off for 11000 yen. The entire unit - the shell, the screens, the stylus - looks indistinguishable from a box fresh 3DS. And it still works beautifully a year later. It’s not like buying a system from gamestop; their used consoles are high quality shit.
jokes side are there lots of cute girls and men in japan
If you're buying the snitch or other electronics, you should take them out of the box when you go through customs. Make it look like you came to Japan with them.
The border c**ts love kicking up a stink about not paying import taxes on things that look expensive.
you didn't answered my question, are there lots of attractive women and men in japan?
Yes.
>switch lite
you'll regret it. get the full console.
I have both the oled and switch lite and I preferred the switch lite when I'm traveling. It's only $100 used for a switch lite, it's not a big cost especially considering inflation and wage increases.
The lite is superior if you actually go outside. I have a hacked Switch at home but I barely use it because I find myself playing Switch games during my commute or on business trips.
Itt
he literally lives in japan
Are you fricking moronic?
This. Weebs are so annoying hyping up japanese switch when american switch is better.
this. i refuse to touch that gay weebshit and only play american games on my american switch made in the U S of A.
Can you really eat konbini food every day and stay healthy?
Yes, food is not processed here.
The problem is that food comes in small portions
>food comes in small portions
this isn't really true. food comes in large portions in whatever country you are from, which makes the japanese portions appear small by comparison. they have more than enough calories per portion. i've noticed only yanks seem to think this.
Lol? You know damn well these frickers sell air.
I remember a year ago buying a grape soda off a vend machine for like 100¥ and then when i look at the bottom it had this fricking dip to make the can look full.
Also some vend machine have pictures of the drinks looking bigger but once the drink pops out you realise its a lot smaller.
Also bought a snacl the other day that had packaging inside the package just to make the product look bigger and heavier
Dont make me talk about the ridiculous fruit prices.
Japan props up their food.
They have grams/liters written on the packaging, anon. No one's trying to pull a fast one on you; you just can't read.
The packaging tomfoolery is real. It happens everywhere across the world. Fruit prices are ridiculous yes. But the portion size of an average restaurant or convenience store meal is enough for a normal person. If you get a katsu-don from lawson and still find yourself hungry you are either lifting weights real good or just fat
>Yeah well it happens in other places too!
Lol
it does though
>you didn't get raped in the ass because someone else did too!
Nope. I eat on local suupa because its cheaper.
I used to eat at lawsons and their food albeit better quality and more expensive, still left me empty. Also lost a lot of weight through the year people think i am anotexic. And no i was never fat oe hit the gym.
If you are a NEET in japan people will look at you and think youre are garbage. Especially housewives.
I used to stroll in malls and streets in japan and people used to look at me weird as if i am not supposed to be there. Maybe because i was visibly a gaijin or because during work hours no one is expected to be outside besides blue collar job workers or housewives
>used to stroll in malls and streets in japan
Fukkin weeb
you sure you're not just ugly bro?
No I eat at lawsons
are you tall
Yes how else do you think I eat at lawsons
>people will look at you and think youre are garbage. Especially housewives.
Why should I care about the opinions of some other random dude's woman whom I have no sexual interactions with?
Food in Japan is cheap, why the frick would you exclusively eat convenience store slop? It’s insanely overrated, just like vending machine meals.
It's japanese culture to each convience store food idiot
Japan is a bit of a shithole to be honest
>Which games should i get? Right now i am thinking
>>TotK
>>BotW
Why are you getting 2 copies of the same Zelda game?
I wonder what the catch is
Like 25€
Surely they missed a zero.
ジャンク品ちゃう?それとも箱のみの出品やないか
よく見ると箱オンリーやん。
It's just the box, anon. Read the item description.
I wish I could live there
you need to be aware of customs anon, if you haul too many switches you might get stopped at the airport for not paying customs duty
check locally what the limit is
I wish I had a source of passive income so I could move to a mid-size Japanese city without experiencing their wagecuck culture.
Same
>their wagecuck culture
the 90s are over, anon. we got plenty of paid vacation, unpaid overtime is severely cracked down on, and working from home most of the week has become the norm for most office jobs. come over. hell, i'm "working" right now
>t. Me
It gets old fast and youll quickly wish you were spending money somewhere else than some old persons pensions who probably hates you for being gaijin.
Name one first world country I can live and work in without paying for other peoples' pensions.
Norway
Not true. Norwegian citizens pay to prop up the Norwegian pension system just like anywhere else.
They don't. Norwegians don't pay tax
ok anon
I bought a Switch in 2019 but have never used it because I missed the boat on the launch models and am still waiting for a software exploit to emerge for the red boxes. If there's still no progress by the end of next year I'll sell it and put the cash towards a launch model of whatever Nintendo's next system is, and hope for better luck.
Why are there three weeb threads?
are you by any chance that austrian/german shabbos gaijin for japanese companies i talked to many years ago? my isp israeliteed out on me and doesnt let me host on ipv4 anymore, so i lost my mail server and your emails long ago
>currently live in Japan
doubt
Naze tbh
I'm not even OP, but I live in Japan as do many other anons on this site and even in this thread.
>yen inflation
I feel sorry for you jap bros but I'm thankful for that. Now I can spend 50 bucks on fanbox and get subscriptions with up to 5 artists, or buy up to 10 sex toys from you guys. I've been spending so much usd lately.
In japan they make you sort out your garbage which is understandable but you gotta pay like 5$ for certain types of trash.
Also you gotta BUY a special kind of bag at conbini.
Let that sink in. YOU GOTTA PAY TO TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE.
Capitalist dystopia
Sounds like a building thing
Its not, every municipality will have you buy dumb conbini special bags and dispatch a garbage truck to collect big stuff because they insist on driving garbage trucks of the size of key cars thst can barely carry any garbage
Is it something to do with their tiny ass cars which means you can't really take larger shit the the dump yourself?
You can take oversized garbage to the disposal center yourself. It's just that most people do not own a car so it's much more convenient to just pay a negligible sum and let them collect it.
When the residential areas have super narrow streets with walls on both sides, you can't really fit actual truck sized garbage trucks through them. It's probably because of that.
The frick is that pavement ?
looks like asphalt, anon
Just looks like part of the sewer system, not an actual pavement (sidewalk). The street is just shared between drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
>part of the sewer system
if you mean the square blocks on the left it's a ditch for rain water
did you take that picture yourself?
Yes, it's from a few years ago when I lived in Fukuoka for some time.
i'm going to dox you haha
How is Fukuoka? I am considering moving there from Tokyo if things work out with this chick. Maybe Ooita.
Well, I was only in Fukuoka, but it had the perks of a city without being too crowded I'd say. Nice downtown to walk through, good public transport, some nice parks and the weather was also pretty nice from October to early December. Felt like summer with 20-27°C, although that was partially due to a heatwave in early December when I was there.
I do kinda regret not going to some onsen, espeically in Ooita since it's supposed to be famous for them.
No, it's nationwide. But the cost of the garbage bags is negligible, and you only have to pay more for oversized garbage like furniture or home appliances.
This varies by 区. I live in Nerima and this is not the case. We only have to pay for them to come pick up large items like microwaves, couches, TVs or washing machines. I paid 1,200円 for them to come pick up my old desk.
ywnbj
>currently live in Japan
Stopped reading right there.
>Switch lite
How much Japanese pussy can I expect as an ugly fat bastard?
Zero
>as an ugly fat bastard
how much money do you have to spend at the soaps?
Why aren't you earning USD or Euros?
USD is strong like bull.
those are manholes, anon. there is probably a sewer underneath. are you indian by any chance?
>chain of square manholes
Do sex workers in japan frick gaijin? Asking for a friend.
Japanese sex workers mostly no, but there are a few exceptions. You will have better luck with Thai girls here.
Hard pass on the country then. I can just go to Sydney or something and have sex with gorgeous women for pretty cheap.
>Japanese Guys can just go a Pink Salon and get a Blowjob without condom for like a 1000 yen.
How many of them get STDs?
I've done some research, very select few .
They do house calls and it's expensive.
Japanese Guys can just go a Pink Salon and get a Blowjob without condom for like a 1000 yen.
Man, I've always wanted to go to a pink salon. I heard there is like... one in the whole country that supposedly admits foreigners, but I'm skeptical.
>Blowjob without condom for like a 1000 yen
So like their mouths have so much semen in them
They're just covers for rainwater drainage gutters.
ALL ACROSS JAPAN
Everyone, the context for this image has been omitted. Please see attached.
That seems REAL
What about being à man ang get à woman unless playing shit Nintendo games for pedos is your goal in life
Tried
She got back to her ex on the day we met.
I dont care about hoes anymore
