I've started to have microlags instead, 2 to 3 times each song that last for about 2 seconds and I need to be lucky to get them on non-scratch parts of the song as they don't seem to count when the lag starts. Did not have them the past year I've played and only started to get them a few weeks ago. I can only full combo clear songs when I'm lucky now. It's great.
For me it's the new assets that are the issue. If I turn off all effects it's smooth.

I have all 4 and score about 3.4k and looks like at peak it's literally just if you can get two runs or not. The average high is 7.7k ish
But the title looks kinda meh so I don't think I'll be losing sleep over missing the title

It seems there are some parts of the stage that just can't get turn off. That already happened before, they released some laggy stages, but you didn't have to use them.

It's a bit complicated... they try to be close as JP and EN were originally supposed to be in the same app. I think EN mostly follows JP's schedule now? But they used to shuffle events around a lot

The NPC thing happens to everyone, it's basically a function that fills your lobby after the game thinks you've waited too long to play with others
EN is actually in the side:origin -Merm4id- event, and from what I saw in the wiki that one happened just a month ago in Japan.
The licensing issues always feel extra funny to me because they can change from one game to another. EN Bang Dream never got their cover of Haruhi's God Knows, and yet here's the (original) song in D4DJ.

I would say: if you want to play only the songs, create a JP account, but if you want to know more about the story download an EN account.
I only have problems with JP NPCs, since my connection is far far away. In the EN servers i have less NPCs, but only in Veteran.
EN is about a month behind the JP. It might be even convenient because you know if should you hodl gems or spend. But EN is missing a shitload of 3rd party songs and even some covers which is a real shame (a really small number though). Some minor collabs could also be skipped sometimes.
NPC lobbies should be gone when you'll grow into a veteran room. It's the same on both regions.
Choosing the server is up to your preference. For me understanding the story and dialogues is a main retention factor. I know I'll drop the game without a normal translation even with the abundance of cool songs. It helps that Donuts really improved the storytelling aspect lately, I'd say that characters and the story are carrying the game on par with songs and collabs now.

Disabling effects doesn't work for inherently laggy backgrounds. As soon as they open the encore live, that doesn't force you to use the Abyssmare stage, microfreezes disappeared.
So change the background.

Abyssmare outfits look better in game. They feel especially old since they came after Unichord. Sophia should have gone all out with tats like Wero I get this feeling that Weronika was an unused drummer design for a wacked DJ group or Bandori.
I was really excited for Abyssmare's songs, but they honestly fell a bit short after Unichord's opening. WINNER is still their best fricking song. The choreography didn't really fit at times. And yes anon , it's quite alike, but it's not like she sounds like Neo in all their songs.

Funnily enough, it was the opposite for me. I came to watch Nanmo Wakaran live and was blown off by Abyssmare's introduction. The hyperagressive sound/visual effects and Pillar Man posing was spot on and somehow I didn't notice how good was Get into the Abyssmare until now.

Here is Akao Hikaru's headcanon on the Arisugawa Student Council members. We already got her backstory from the play so the headcanon focuses on the background of the backstory.
Since this is the character she played, I guess she channeled her Assault Lily experience and made up all this yuri stuff behind the subtext in the play
Both Ri4 plays have been a play with a mini live afterwards. The play last year was a speedrun of in-game Ri4 story and early events, and then Towa, Tsubaki, Dalia, Saori helping them preparing for the DJ Olympics.
This year the story started 9 years ago in the same woods near the D4Fes stage we saw in First Mix anime countless times, but with Sakuya and Ayumi instead. Then it cut to the present where Haruna announced her bid for Presidency. Things were going very well for Haruna until Sakuya recruited two "cute kouhais", Hitomi and Riaru to find her weakness. Riaru pointed out to Kurumi and Miiko that Haruna could ban pranks, causing the two to retract their endorsement. Chaos ensued as Haruna chased the gremlins around. Thus Sakuya won and became student council president. After opening credits, Haruna forgave the gremlins and decided to focus on DJ-ing. However the DJ equipment wasn't working. The student council suddenly invaded and announced ban on DJ activities. Miyu argued that the nuns allowed them to DJ, but student council showed them a rule in student handbook allowing them to overrule and ban the activities regardless... The student council began cleaning up the Ri4's lair. Riaru showed some interest in DJ, but also found the equipment not working. Sakuya came over and fixed it immediately. Meanwhile Ri4 had to practice singing in a Karaoke box. Rika and Saori suddenly showed up with drinks they ordered. Ri4 told them what happened. Saori and Rika showed them DJ equipment that Rika begged the store owner to install, and Marika and Dalia also came over and the eight of them danced to High Tension BPM.
The student council continued to enforce their ban on EDM. Students were allowed to listen to classic music only. Kurumi ordered pizza so Merm4ids sneaked into the school as deliverymen. However they found the DJ equipment working and Riaru & Hitomi fricking around with it. Saori showed Riaru a bit DJ-ing and Dalia got Hitomi to dance with them. They found out it was Sakuya who fixed it, and when she showed up, somehow she knew the full name of each Merm4id. Ri4 chased, and Ayumi revealed that Sakuya was caught attending D4Fes 9 years ago by her mom and banned from unsavory music that is EDM. However later Sakuya found Cafe Vinyl and was shown the ropes by Airi. She got too into DJ and was caught again by her mom, and this time her mom threatened to cut her off from Ayumi. After a lot of hugging between Ayumi and Sakuya, Ri4 understandood why Sakuya became so twisted and forgave her. They went back together for a final round of rapping and Ri4 won the debate. The school music festival took place successfully and Merm4id even got invited to perform. They found out it was Sakuya who fixed it, and when she showed up, somehow she knew the full name of each Merm4id. Haruna showed Saori the rule that allowed the student council to ban DJ, when Miiko pointed out a small print saying those who don't agree with the council's decision can put the issue to open debate. The school held the debate and Haruna was losing. Saori started DJ machine so Haruna could turn it into a rap battle. Sakuya was oddly good at rapping, and ran away in the middle of debate. Ri4 chased, and Ayumi revealed that Sakuya was caught attending D4Fes 9 years ago by her mom and banned from unsavory music that is EDM. However later Sakuya found Cafe Vinyl and was shown the ropes by Airi. She got too into DJ and was caught again by her mom, and this time her mom threatened to cut her off from Ayumi. They always talk about how can they grow as artists, what kind of new sound can they produce. People who understand music well, can you tell which units have actually evolved and became better compared to their debut?
As much as I love Merm4id, I still feel like Floor Killer is their best original track.
I think it's obvious that their grow is an in-universe term which doesn't correlate with irl production team skills. But in terms of 'new' sound it at least works for Phomai as their music is the most diverse and usually is aligned with plot.

I've started to have microlags instead, 2 to 3 times each song that last for about 2 seconds and I need to be lucky to get them on non-scratch parts of the song as they don't seem to count when the lag starts. Did not have them the past year I've played and only started to get them a few weeks ago. I can only full combo clear songs when I'm lucky now. It's great.
For me it's the new assets that are the issue. If I turn off all effects it's smooth.
I have all 4 and score about 3.4k and looks like at peak it's literally just if you can get two runs or not. The average high is 7.7k ish
But the title looks kinda meh so I don't think I'll be losing sleep over missing the title
Oh well, I already tried playing with all effects off and the default club while playing solo and it did not help at all. Guess I'll wait another month or so until they fix it like they usually do with their performance problems.
It seems there are some parts of the stage that just can't get turn off. That already happened before, they released some laggy stages, but you didn't have to use them.

The 7 nip units had an after party in Coney Island. Michiru thanked Rinku for taking care of her. Peaky and Phonton played beach volleyball as rematch for student council election, and Merm4id also joined in. Saki wanted to do a universe themed joint live with Lumina. Haurna came to thank Lumina for taking care of Haya-Coco, but the gremlins pranked them by putting a printout of Lumina's photo on the backside of Haruna's tablet. Rondo wondered what happened to Abyssmare, since the nips were escorted out after encore. Esora said her zaibatsu wasn't involved in any of Abyssmare activities so she couln't find out, but Lumina said she could find out by breaking a few laws. Shinobu admitted defeat to Michiru, and the two began arguing if Shinobu actually admitted to losing to UniChØrd as a whole or to Michiru. Haya-Coco slipped out to buy icecream, but back in Japan it was revealed they actually went on a date in the aquarium. Hayate wanted to do honeymoon in Hawaii after wedding. They wondered if Michiru was bored out of shit right now, but it cut to Sophia and Elsie transfering into her class. Weronica transfered into Ibuki's class and got mad that Ibuki acted like she saw a dead man walking. Kyoko's class was supposed to get a transfer student too but said student was absent the first day. Back in darkness Neo-sama seethed and wondered who Lumina really is.
D4FES started. Origin units and UniChØrd performed first. When UniChØrd was performing, Mitsuhashi Sho called out Neo-sama alone with him to hear Lumina sing. Neo-sama realized that Lumina had evovled to her complete state and she indeed had the voice of Aria. Next on stage Neo was mind broken and auto missed the level
Weronica had to take over main vocal and Sophia also panicked and broke character. Shou cut the power to the venue and burgers began demanding refunds.
So Lumina is seriously an AI? That's not some silly cliffhanger to keep her actual appearance a mystery, we're actually just jumping headfirst into the fantastical?
That was the twist. They actually used some card stories to set it up before the reveal in main story. The only mystery now is her relationship with Neo's dead mom.

- Is the EN version missing a lot of cover/game songs? I really liked Hapiara's Ultra Relax version, but it seems to be missing here.
- The game keeps pairing me with npcs when I play Multilives. Does that happen until a certain player level or do I need to change some setting?

It's a bit complicated... they try to be close as JP and EN were originally supposed to be in the same app. I think EN mostly follows JP's schedule now? But they used to shuffle events around a lot

The NPC thing happens to everyone, it's basically a function that fills your lobby after the game thinks you've waited too long to play with others
EN is actually in the side:origin -Merm4id- event, and from what I saw in the wiki that one happened just a month ago in Japan.
The licensing issues always feel extra funny to me because they can change from one game to another. EN Bang Dream never got their cover of Haruhi's God Knows, and yet here's the (original) song in D4DJ.

I would say: if you want to play only the songs, create a JP account, but if you want to know more about the story download an EN account.
I only have problems with JP NPCs, since my connection is far far away. In the EN servers i have less NPCs, but only in Veteran.
EN is about a month behind the JP. It might be even convenient because you know if should you hodl gems or spend. But EN is missing a shitload of 3rd party songs and even some covers which is a real shame (a really small number though). Some minor collabs could also be skipped sometimes.
NPC lobbies should be gone when you'll grow into a veteran room. It's the same on both regions.
Choosing the server is up to your preference. For me understanding the story and dialogues is a main retention factor. I know I'll drop the game without a normal translation even with the abundance of cool songs. It helps that Donuts really improved the storytelling aspect lately, I'd say that characters and the story are carrying the game on par with songs and collabs now.

Disabling effects doesn't work for inherently laggy backgrounds. As soon as they open the encore live, that doesn't force you to use the Abyssmare stage, microfreezes disappeared.

I think I might have realized what caused the stutters. It's Virtual RAM/RAM Expansion.
I just disabled it, restarted the phone and played 3 songs without a single stutter.

Abyssmare outfits look better in game. They feel especially old since they came after Unichord. Sophia should have gone all out with tats like Wero I get this feeling that Weronika was an unused drummer design for a wacked DJ group or Bandori.
I was really excited for Abyssmare's songs, but they honestly fell a bit short after Unichord's opening. WINNER is still their best fricking song. The choreography didn't really fit at times. And yes anon , it's quite alike, but it's not like she sounds like Neo in all their songs.

Funnily enough, it was the opposite for me. I came to watch Nanmo Wakaran live and was blown off by Abyssmare's introduction. The hyperagressive sound/visual effects and Pillar Man posing was spot on and somehow I didn't notice how good was Get into the Abyssmare until now.

I buy lots of them. You don't have to use a proxy or forwarder, many stores ship internationally.
I use CDJapan or Amazon JP usually. CDJapan often has exclusive bonuses and discount coupons, also you get a lot of reward points that you can use for further discounts. They have superb packaging, too. For shipping you can use DHL (very fast and not that expensive in comparison), FedEx (never used it) or Japan Post (2 weeks waiting time on average, and whatever your local post/customs office bullshit you have to go through).
Amazon's base prices are usually cheaper, but their packaging is hit or miss. It used to be horribly shit (I got a few cracked israeliteel cases and magazines with bent corners), but I feel that they've improved lately. Shipping (to EU at least) is done by DHL, very fast and actually pretty inexpensive for what it is, Amazon surely has a sick deal on it.
For payment you can use foreign cards no problem. Personally I use Revolut, it has good exchange rates.
As for other shops, AmiAmi is cool, too, though their "discounts" are pretty bad. The Japanese Bushiroad store doesn't ship internationally I think, I used Tenso for forwarding a few times. Here is Akao Hikaru's headcanon on the Arisugawa Student Council members. We already got her backstory from the play so the headcanon focuses on the background of the backstory.
Since this is the character she played, I guess she channeled her Assault Lily experience and made up all this yuri stuff behind the subtext in the play

Both Ri4 plays have been a play with a mini live afterwards. The play last year was a speedrun of in-game Ri4 story and early events, and then Towa, Tsubaki, Dalia, Saori helping them preparing for the DJ Olympics.
This year the story started 9 years ago in the same woods near the D4Fes stage we saw in First Mix anime countless times, but with Sakuya and Ayumi instead. Then it cut to the present where Haruna announced her bid for Presidency. Things were going very well for Haruna until Sakuya recruited two "cute kouhais", Hitomi and Riaru to find her weakness. Riaru pointed out to Kurumi and Miiko that Haruna could ban pranks, causing the two to retract their endorsement. Chaos ensued as Haruna chased the gremlins around. Thus Sakuya won and became student council president.
After opening credits, Haruna forgave the gremlins and decided to focus on DJ-ing. However the DJ equipment wasn't working. The student council suddenly invaded and announced ban on DJ activities. Miyu argued that the nuns allowed them to DJ, but student council showed them a rule in student handbook allowing them to overrule and ban the activities regardless...
The student council began cleaning up the Ri4's lair. Riaru showed some interest in DJ, but also found the equipment not working. Sakuya came over and fixed it immediately. Meanwhile Ri4 had to practice singing in a Karaoke box. Rika and Saori suddenly showed up with drinks they ordered. Ri4 told them what happened. Saori and Rika showed them DJ equipment that Rika begged the store owner to install, and Marika and Dalia also came over and the eight of them danced to High Tension BPM.
The student council continued to enforce their ban on EDM. Students were allowed to listen to classic music only. Kurumi ordered pizza so Merm4ids sneaked into the school as deliverymen. However they found the DJ equipment working and Riaru & Hitomi fricking around with it. Saori showed Riaru a bit DJ-ing and Dalia got Hitomi to dance with them. They found out it was Sakuya who fixed it, and when she showed up, somehow she knew the full name of each Merm4id. Haruna showed Saori the rule that allowed the student council to ban DJ, when Miiko pointed out a small print saying those who don't agree with the council's decision can put the issue to open debate.
The school held the debate and Haruna was losing. Saori started DJ machine so Haruna could turn it into a rap battle. Sakuya was oddly good at rapping, and ran away in the middle of debate. Ri4 chased, and Ayumi revealed that Sakuya was caught attending D4Fes 9 years ago by her mom and banned from unsavory music that is EDM. However later Sakuya found Cafe Vinyl and was shown the ropes by Airi. She got too into DJ and was caught again by her mom, and this time her mom threatened to cut her off from Ayumi. After a lot of hugging between Ayumi and Sakuya, Ri4 understandood why Sakuya became so twisted and forgave her. They went back together for a final round of rapping and Ri4 won the debate.
The school music festival took place successfully and Merm4id even got invited to perform. Afterwards as Ri4 celebrate the return to normal, Kurumi revealed that she put the small print in every copy of student handbook in case of Haruna getting elected and banning pranks.
