damn this game really rocked. havent played it since i was a teen but it has a lot more than i remember. evil/good campaign, custom heroes, risks style sandbox campaign. this game rocks, better than a lot of games that came out in 2023.
what mods should i get after completing vanilla?

i only ever played the first game and that was last year. it was decent but the gameplay was kinda ass, especially the buildings sites. i hear this one is better.
the second game does away with the building sites system and lets you just build a base units are also less rigid
in general i would say the second game is more fun albeit more generic
did you play the expansion? it's good too
lotr did so well with its licensed games it's kinda surprising
>i hear this one is better.
Neither holds up. It's all morons with nostalgia goggles and the only reason these threads don't die like other nostalgia bait threads is because some homosexual youtuber made a video on this game saying it was underrated. Maybe it was at the time but it's trash now.
I've played 1 for the first time several years ago. It was great. Didn't like 2 much because of even more liberties with the source material.
Nostalgia threads are peak /vst/, they were basically the entire board for the first few weeks and it was the golden age.
It was mostly homosexuals trying to pretend their old shit games aren't shit because they thought nobody else had played them. That's why they died so fast and were quarantined to one thread
It definitely holds up. Name a SINGLE other RTS (that is not Rise of Legends) where cavalry units can trample over infantry in such a satisfying way as in BFME.
Does Total War count?
I can't think of any other game where cavalry actually serves some other function than "beefy warrior".
it does. nice varied factions. fun base building. cool hero and faction powers. its hella cool.
>hella
Emulating Black folk doesn't make you cool zoomerhomosexual.
Legit best RTS ever made. Amazing gameplay variety, yet doesn't ever hardlock itself on microshit garbage for c**t-eyes APM bots, extremely fun and satisfying gameplay, timeless setting. No other RTS comes even close to BfME2 to this very day.
Frick off, zoomer dotabitch.
True. The faction diversity was off the charts, and there were so many different paths to take even in competitive multiplayer because of heroes and ring powers. Like Elves just stalling the game out til they could summon Eagles, kek
I fricking loved BFME2, it feels weird knowing I only played it for a mere 3 years
all that faction diversity and still elite archers are the superior strat to everything
Good luck trying to hit cavalry.
Yeah, I do that. Be it Angmar's trolls or Rohirrim. Just don't blob. As you gain uprades and experience on any elite archer unit, they'll melt everything, be it heroes or large monsters.
Not in mp
And not for Isengard in SP either I'd imagine. Fully upgraded pikemen were moronicly strong
Zoomer here, I grew up with this game (and the first one), he's just a homosexual. As for OP, there's a really cool mod for the expansion, I forgot the name but I remember that it lets you play as Arnor, you can look it up. Anyway, I'm just a tourist passing by but extremely based thread lads, keep it up!
I see this post in every BFME thread. I'm not sure why this one Anon has such a hate boner for the games.
the building sites were fine and added a very simple but effective form of map control and tech restriction. the problem with the first game was how disgustingly overpowered rohan was.
what rohan overpowered. never played with those horse sniffers. too much micro. Gondor rangers were OP though. killing everything before they can get at you. beyond broken. still i had more fun playing as Isenguard swarming everything with giga-chad Urik-Hai.
>Rohan
>Micro
Literally just trample everything but pikemen and monsters (and even those whenever you got Theoden's bullshit power).
>what rohan overpowered.
You could win the whole campaign by taking the same Rohan army from one map to the next, trampling the enemy who can do nothing to stop your horde.
You run into a few squads of high level pikemen eventually and your cavalry melts like butter on them. This is why you need to keep some mounted archers as well to mongol the pikemen.
Agree. I actually like building sites.
>the problem with the first game was how disgustingly overpowered rohan was.
Weren't the good factions overpowered in general due to actually getting free walls and stuff for major settlements.
I loved the first game but the second game had extremely boring missions early on so I just kinda gave up on it.
WHY IS THE ZOOM LIMIT SO SMALL, WHO THE FRICK PLAYS LIKE THAT
It's an old game moron, they had to make compromises like some console shooters have an FOV of 35.
i highly recommand the age of the ring, the support for it is very very nice but you need bfme2 rotwk
i also recommand the edain mod
i already play bfmr1 and bfme2 +rotwk with nozoomlimits and its perfect
downside is you cant do it in missions, only skirmish which is perfect for me
is there a remastered version or a version compatible with modern systems?
I play the games in win 10 and i have no problems at all
This game is easy too acquire and run, you guys should check it out. I prefer BFME 2 vanilla over witch king, better balance IMO.
Where can i get this on pc?

>Tom Bombadil just casually smacking your army around.
Takes away all the seriousness of the campaign
Reforged never ever.
>play vanilla siege of Minas Tirith (BFME good campaign)
>Mordor homies can't even pass through the main gate after destroying it (and pretty sure I could destroy Grond! before he reaches it)
Well, that was underwhelming, now I understand all the autistically hard mods that grognard fans of this game have made through the years.
Buckland 2v2 no rush 20mins.
Turkish crusaders vs saracens mod
Harad would make a cool separate faction.
What's the appeal of BfME2? After all this hype, I decided to give it a try, started the good campaign, and got bored around after 5 minutes of right-clicking my squads into goblins.
>what's the appeal of sonic? i got bored after 5 minutes of holding right
Huh? I love RTS games like Stronghold 1, Warcraft 3 or Dawn of War 1, but BfME seemed dull.
I finished the 3rd mission but the fanfic-tier plot is pretty meh, and I still didn't need to advance beyond right-clicking into goblins with the exception of occasionally letting archers kill the Watcher/ents clear out the stronghold before engaging in melee.
Honestly that it gives very different options in how to play compared to the first game. Though I wish 2 had 1's campaign map system.
Its fun and I like LoTR
I like LotR, watched the movies a dozen times, but I feel like the game is too derivative and unimaginative.
