Why is it that Kaede is treated like the main girl in V3 when Maki is? If anything, Kaede is Sayaka 2.0. Why does Maki gets relegated to being shipped with a dead man when she’s literally the secondary love interest just like Kyoko was?

Maki isn't a secondary love interest to Shuichi any more than Himiko is, i.e. not at all. Even after Kaito and Kaede die, they're still treated as Maki's and Shuichi's respective love interests, even more so with Maki since Tsumugi reveals she designed things so that Maki would fall for him. Maki being a love interest for Shuichi just because they're both alive at the end is unironically incel logic.

I'm not saying Maki couldn't eventually move on, I'm saying the game doesn't show anything of the sort and thus she's not a "secondary love interest". Certainly nothing like the Kyoko situation where it's already implied in DR1 and made more explicit in DR3.

The concept was clever, numbnuts. The execution was never going to work due to how the games present it’s narrative though. Could have worked fine in another series made for that type of twist
