Yeah, I think ER is the weakest of the Soulsborne games but I don't play online so I don't specifically care about the servers staying up or being fixed. If they're genuinely going to maintain servers on a 6 year old game(old enough to post on Ganker) then they should have done it a while ago. It may be that they have been working this whole time and couldn't unfrick the issue.

arena pvp has never ever ever been good in any souls game. that's not why ds2's pvp gets praised. ds2's pvp gets praised because it had the least moronic mechanics for invading/summoning overall and you had enough variety and balance in the builds you could do that it didn't get annoying as frick like in elden ring or stale as shit like in ds3

hope your build doesn't use consumables, so much for that build variety.
additionally, the problem with invading itself in ds2 is that you don't have much for healing options and the level design is so flat you can barely plan an ambush or have an escape route. you have very little options for separating the phantom and host. the game's also balanced around 1v1s and punishes you for trying to run, so if you're against 2 decent players you're going to lose every time.
well idk i played the game when it was fresh in 2014 and it was the only time i actually enjoyed pvping in a souls game, ever. soul memory was lame but i ultimately didn't mind it so much because it gave me a reason to roll a new character eventually, and i could do save back-ups if i really wanted to save it. hilariously enough the soul memory shit made twinking even easier because you could run past all the enemies and get insane weapons/spells from later in the game and one-shot dudes in the bell tower
there were other things that also sucked in ds2 but it doesn't change the fact that it's still like the only souls games where the pvp mechanics actually sort of worked, like all the covenants worked and you could find people to invade no matter if you were a rat guy or a bluecop or whatever. the netcode, if i recall correctly, had the least amount of jank as well. ds2 basically wins the pvp race by default because a-team games don't even bother to try making the pvp work

Anon, I've never had a problem winning in PvP, its just fricking boring as shit to actually do. The PvP ALWAYS feels like shit because 95% of the time lag/delay will be present and make shit just feel wrong and mindless. And even when it DOES work its not really fun. It feels like fighting an npc except that NPC is a massive b***h who never stops running away in a panic when they're almost dead.

that's the base state of souls pvp yeah. the only thing that makes it fun is how spontaneous and silly it is. i like ambushing hosts with skeleton buddies, knocking them into pits and other shit like that. i also like going through a level while fighting off invaders.
imo they should just be trying to make pvp as low-stakes as possible, kinda like how rat covenant worked in ds2. you just do a short pvp fight and you get a bit of extra bonus if you win and lose nothing if you lose. a-team keeps trying to stack the odds against the invader when all that does is make invaders play even more sweaty to make up for it, which makes hosts cry just as much as they would if they weren't playing on training wheels. and most hosts who absolutely don't want to pvp are still going to pull the plug so it's kinda moronic to even try to give them more advantages. just make pvping less annoying and damaging to your run than pulling the plug
Dark Souls 1 is my favorite game of all time, I put about 800 hours into but I never finished Dark Souls 3. Shields, parrying and magic got nerfed hard and it really feels like the game only wants you to do melee. Game unironically feels more like bloodborne. I got filtered hard in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley and by Pontiff. Im a spear gay and the game really made it feel like only straight sword was worth using.

That was my biggest gripe with DaS3. All the previous Dark Souls game I had fun doing replays with new builds. Dark Souls 3 really feels like the only viable build is melee and gotta go fast.
I struggled hard against Sister Friede. I could not for the life of me parry her and the only way I was able to beat her was summoning another player

Miracles are by far my favorite magic in the series. It's absolutely criminal how the majority of good miracles you get are right before the final boss. Almost all the offensive miracles you get before that are garbage. The only miracles that came in handy was gnaw which I used to cheese Dancer.
