The Dark Urge is pretty obviously the intended main character of the game. I'd even go so far as to say, specifically the good dark urge is probably the canon play through. Basically all of act 3 is 10x more enjoyable as the DU and has a better story. I'm curious as to why they ended up changing it from being the default custom character?

>Dark Urge
is that like a blacked porn reference or what
Because there's too many skeletons in that playthrough and Larian's key investor has cultural issues with skeletons
I’m curious what the implication of this are?
>Get paid the better a niche RPG does
>Realize it's a niche RPG
>oh frick, BOT IT
Typical Tencent scummery basically. Can't believe Steam numbers for a second.
I don’t understand how bots would buy the game in order to boost numbers. Also the game is high production quality and had 3 years of EA before release so it’s not a huge jump for it to perform well.
Because it's a CRPG and they don't sell
>the game is high production quality
It also completely falls apart after Act 1
It really doesn't. Act 2 is my favorite, actually.
Act 3 has problems that I think dark urge mainly fixes. Other than the bugs which isn’t great even though I didn’t experience many.
That an autistic man has made posting that image in the first five replies of every bg3 thread his new special interest
Also tencent is a preferential shareholder, a type of shareholder which gives no voting rights, only dividends.
How's it feel knowing you are powerless to impact the game's success, no matter what you do? Must be killing you inside 🙂
bg3 is a failure by all metrics
starfield sold more in 1 day and will take goty
Pidorashka hello
according to that chart the 'key investor' is the CEO
Chinese are behind the degeneration of western culture
>Financially illiterate anon not understanding what a majority shareholder is and why Tencent has zero influence whatsoever on the game studio by virtue of not being the majority shareholder
moron
It's even stupider, they have preferred stock so they have no voting power anyway.
They could own 99% of the shares as preferred stock and it wouldn't matter
Normalgays, anon. It's always normalgays.
People shat and pissed themselves when they found out you couldn't save Alfira. Your average modern gamer would literally be mindbroken if something happened to their OC outside of their control.
It’s quite funny because Alfira is kind of a whatever if she doesn’t die, her death actually is the most interesting part of her character. Not only that, there aren’t any other forced kills like that, all the others have rolls. So it’s strange to me so many people put off playing the character who obviously has 1000x the story involvement.
I don't want to be a psycho murderer on my first playthrough, so I'm not forced to be one. Good.
The Dark Urge isn’t. There is more content surrounding resisting the urge than there is giving into it basically. The end of the DU quest is the peak of the entire game.
OK, sure, cool, but I'm roleplaying as my first ever DnD character who was not repressing a psycho murderer urge. That's for another playthrough.
For sure, that’s completely fine, I’m glad the option exists and I understand it.
it's pretty obvious: people want to make a blank slate character
durge is cool, close to the end of my durge playthrough, but i don't want it to be the only "custom" option. much rather they worked on quest for tav, maybe something related to your background
Yeah I agree, Tav should have their own unique involvement.
I had a theory about this when they first teased Durge. He has a custom background and they also showed Astarion with a custom background, something like vampire hedonist iirc. So I was thinking your "origin" was tied to your background, and for Tav that meant each background would have a unique quest/plotline.
In the full game all the origins have regular backgrounds though, Astarion is charlatan, only Durge is unique. Maybe another thing they cut?
That sound like it would have been sick if that’s what they did. Maybe it’s cut tbh, but I could also see it just not been worth the time investment because most casual people wouldn’t care enough for the variance.
Unless you subscribe to the reatarded
>cut content, where's my end game slideshow, why can't there be a happy ending for everyone
crowd, the real problems act 3 still has after patches are wonky pacing and it being a cakewalk even on tactician. The number of overpowered builds and the quantity of powerful artifacts are insane.
Lmao, no. Larian themselves said Durge is a bonus for replaying the game, not meant as the first experience of it. It's a fun playthrough, but you can easily lose 50% of the content while playing Durge.
Lose 50% of the content? Not at all, it has the exact same content plus way more (assuming you are being a hero), think Fane from DOS 2
>Larian themselves said Durge is a bonus for replaying the game
I kind of hate this suggestion and I'm glad I chose Durge for my first playthrough.
Bhaal is the least interesting of the dead three. Let Bane take the center stage for once.
Sure but it works well with the Dark Urge plot line
There needs to be way, way more content for Dark Urge embracing his true nature.
Yeah, the evil dark urge ironically has way less content.
where can i torrent this?
Idk, I don’t game much anymore but I used to use fitgirl repacks.

I swear, you people are so fricking moronic you deserve all the malware shit you install on your PCs.
why
If you know what you are doing it’s not too difficult to avoid malware. Ofc you learn from experience and all those years of installing virus’ as a 13 year old taught me how to pirate better.
Wait so non-Dark Urge characters are not Bhaalspawn? Wow, thank frick I did DU first then.
Yeah it's only really a sequel to the previous games when you play DU.
I just got fricked over in my redo DUrge playthrough: I started Act 2 and Murderhobo'd my way through Last Light, slaughtered every living creature and got the cutscene upon slaughtering Isobel. I do my first long rest since the start of the act and get a dream visit, then I play for several hours until I beat toll collector and have my second long rest.
THE FRICKING BUTLER IS STANDING OVER SHADOWFART PRETENDING WE HAD A PRIOR CONVERSATION AND CALLING ME A PUSSY FOR NOT KILLING EVERYONE AT THE INN.
I'm going to redo the entire 6 hours I wasted on this act just because the game didn't like that I surprise attacked my way into the inn instead of waiting for Jawhora to entangle me through the dialogue.
Aww that’s sucks, I hate those types of scripting errors. Must have messed it up cause you killed Isobel before the butler told you to.
It's even more unfortunate because in my original DUrge playthrough I did basically the same thing but I'm fairly certain the only difference was starting the fight while Jawhora has you entangled. It's a silly thing to mess up my gameplay over but it's also my own fault for being so stingy with my long rests when I have over 700 supplies (even with tactician costs).
It's a big problem for a lot of people the whole needing to long rest a lot for story progression thing. Hopefully it doesn't sour the game too much for you. I also had a big bug where I lost 5 hours of playtime because I got the enemy of justice condition where every npc attacked me and I got it for no reason, this was also at last light.
