The character we play was a part of the team sent to investigate the situation. The flamethrower was part of their equipment. The man who handled it succumbed to the Entity just like you.
I kind of figured it from all the notes i read. I felt like there was some kind of investigation at first but as soon as i read the notes, i read "waiting for 1000 hours" army hours. So i thought probably a team was sent as well.

to call it tower defense is silly. it's survival horror. just because you can make traps and defend yourself doesn'tmake it much of a tower defense game at all

My game hard crashed about a day or so from finishing it and my save is gone. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
Once I realized that dying basically has no consequence, it got kinda ruined for me. I guess that's why Hard mode exist but the thought of spending a dozen hours in a save only to have to start over because the game bugged out at a bad time and kills my last life doesn't sound like a good time.
