if you can deal with the pozzed fanbase, have basic imagination and suspend your disbelief (its clearly written with a female mc in mind) this game is pretty good >text based game about uni life >live in a world where everyone is comically horny >theres both proceduraly generated characters (npc meme) and handcrafted characters with a specific storyline >solid gameplay outside all the lewd stuff (pick your courses, study and do homework, hit the gym, level up stats, join a uni club which leads to matches with other unis and even more handcrafted characters, etc.) >even stuff without any form of lewdness have a lot of story to them (working at the burger place, taking bets at the arcade, etc.) >lots of good features planned (you can check it out on the roadmap) >author is making a small fortune through patreon so chances of it being abandoned are low

Most dating sims (i.e. not just visual novels being misnamed, or games taking very superficial “affection systems” like or Cold Steel for example) remain untranslated. Your first step should be to learn Japanese.
this is another one of those homosexual tedium simulators where you get to enjoy the fun of ensuring your character eats 2 meals a day, showers every morning, and commutes to work
i don't know how the frick anyone unironically enjoys these games
Aselia the Spirit of Eternity Sword. It is a 60 hour long visual novel/SRPG hybrid. The protagonist and his little sister are isekaied to a fantasy world, where they are promptly captured and enslaved and forced to conquer other kingdoms. The protagonist also gets bonded with a demon possessed sword that constantly tries to tempt him. One of the best game stories I've read, loved the melancholic atmosphere and the reveries. The story diverges somewhat in chapter 3 or 4 depending on which waifu's route you went down. Stellar soundtrack by Aki Hata, and good art by Hitomaru.
As an addendum, beware that the game is difficult. There is permadeath and you only get two spare replacement soldiers so if you lose anyone and every squad MUST have a full three characters to survive combat. You need to be constantly S-ranking missions in order to get enough bonus mana to keep up and continue S-ranking. It is possible to beat the game without S-ranking every mission, but if you fall off then it will just take a very long time and it isn't as satisfying. There is an especially brutal mission in chapter 3 where the road forks and you have to capture towns along three different paths AND kill a timed superboss AND grab a mana crystal. I got stumped on that mission for a couple weeks, but if you can get past that, you will have so much mana that it's smooth sailing to the end.

She confesses her romantic love to you but understands she has to let you go get with your waifu.
Baldur's Gay 3
not sure if it qualifies as a dating sim but you should try the last sovereign
would be better off playing rance at that point
why?
I heard that Thousand Arms is this kind of game. I don't know how good it actually is though.
