This modder has recently made a shitton of mods that not only swap the model of a mount with another ingame model (like say, changing a bird mount into Sazuku) but he goes one step further:
The mods let you BECOME THE MOUNT. This guy just put out dozens of these mods. You can literally become Athena, RyneShiva, any of the Four Lords, Primals, Tsukuyomi, fricking Kefka, you name it. The mod replaces a specific mount with the mode of a boss, but removes your character model while your mounted, so it's as if you transform into the boss when you mount up.
This dude floods the mod site with like 6 of these fricking things every day, he will not rest until every enemy model has been swapped onto a mount and onto carbuncle.
Oh, that's... that's actually cool as frick. Are you telling me I can turn into alte roite, or kamuy, or [any other mount I can think of]? At least, at some point? Frick. I'm not gonna resub just for that but still.

Having Elidibus' final line be a reprise of the "The rains have ceased" line for example is way better than the rote Japanese idiom "Shikatanaina".

Let's say 7.0 has Corsair and Pictomancer (best guesses with what we have right now).
MAYBE for 8.0 we can get Mystic Knight/Rune Fencer/Spellbade, or Time Mage.
After that they're either going to have to start dismantling jobs like Bard so we can have a Ranger, Warrior so we can have Viking, etc;
OR they're going to start scraping the bottom
of the FFTA barrel for jobs that have never really been true FF jobs like Juggler, Green Mage, Orator, etc.

Yoshi P confirmed in an interview that they were trying to do Chemist as the fourth Healer, but they couldn't make it work and it ended up as Sage after a series of refinements, hence Sage having the "scientist/doctor" aesthetic.
No, they first attempted Chemist and that became AST. They then tried it a second time and that became SGE. Chemist is doomed to never happen and that's why it's memed constantly.

My point originally was that Chemist has been around as a concept since before AST was a thing, and both classes only exist because some concepts of Chemist couldn't be made to work. Chemist itself still could absolutely happen and be unique and fun to play.

they abandoned dungeons, that dungeon was the ice one, they never managed to "fix" it or make it "balanced" people never ran it because it was "hard" outside a few lodestone farm groups
assnet decided that the best way to treat dungeons was adding a 4 min mini dungeon in their "fractal of the mists" each 1 year or so
they tried raids in heart of thorns, they canned raids in path of fire
then they tried a "strike" smaller raid content, then they canned it
right now they are selling the new living world content as a new "xpac" for 25 bucks or so, I remember when they promised living world was always gonna be free for those who logged in during their time, but I guess if you call 2 new maps an xpac it isn't bound by these rules anymore

Melee DPS and Caster DPS were already confirmed, the only question left is what either of them is. Corsair is the most popular guess for the melee, but the caster is still mostly an unknown.

the crafter relics were 'craft the same item 20 times, then another item 30 times' , twice
the patch story was legitimately nearly ALL cutscenes with no action in the story itself, just the mandatory patch dungeon/trial
it's so formulaic at this point - the only good thing has been criterion dungeon

The way I interpreted it was that Island Sanctuary is gonna be wrapped up in 6.5x, probably capping at rank 20 (6.5 will go up to Lv18, 6.5x up to Lv20)
What they said was "more personal content like Island Sanctuary" so there may be ANOTHER, different area with a similar but different type of grind content than Island Sanctuary in 7.0 itself.
Would be nice if they would expand the Squadron, it might even be like FFXI's Pankration (raise and battle mobs).

If it makes you feel any better, Miqo'te share the Midlander rig (with some slight alterations), so if you're on PC you can easily swap the Miqo'te anims onto Middie. Fem Au'ra anims are the best imo but their skeleton is a bit too different and so it causes slight deformation, sadly.
That's what I've been doing for a long time. I even have what I think is a pretty qt asian look that I largely custom made, but I had an aztec/native look on my old middie and with the upcoming expansion, I feel like that would look really good with it. Plus I want to scale back on mods anyways.

Stuff like this. If you're ludicrously autistic like I was, you can learn how to export the skeleton and import your own custom animations. I did that just to replace exclusively the run and walk animation while not touching anything else, and was planning on manually editing each keyframe of the fem au'ra run and walk anim to fit the Middie skeleton but I both don't even know if that would've worked, and also decided it was too autistic of an endeavor even for me and gave up.

English localization just fits the game and its settings better.
Having Elidibus' final line be a reprise of the "The rains have ceased" line for example is way better than the rote Japanese idiom "Shikatanaina".

Listen to Vauthry in JP and he sounds like literally half the fricking cast in Yakuza. They all sound identical. Meanwhile his English voice is one of the most colorful, animated, and unique examples of voice acting in vidya. He's incredible.

I have listened to the JP voices which is how I know they're the same standardized voices for every anime in existence. This is why I use JP, it's become more prevalant over the years but I'm assuming with out Koji to keep the danger hairs in line they can't just help themselves. Yeah, being the type of person who dresses in a kimono to high school and wears fox ears is pretty awful and I'd never want to be confused for one of them, given that that is what a weeaboo is.
However, I openly enjoy Japanese media of all types and have been watching anime since before you were born.
And Japanese voice acting sucks.
Japanese voices: You get the quality you'd expect if you watch anime etc. If you have favorite voice actors you'll get excited about them being here too but not necessarily because their performance is exceptional in this game.
English: High highs and low lows. You get some really good performances you haven't heard anywhere else but personally I get too annoyed by stuff like non-pleasant sounding heavy accents or teenagers sounding like 40 year olds so I prefer JP.

Sicard is the quest starter, it's in Limsa, and the reason why it's magically come out of fricking nowhere is because the reformed pirates of Limsa have finally got their shit together and turned it into a privateering enterprise instead of a smuggling/looting/murdering one.
Solid guess, though I think that datamined letter will be the thing that gets the Scion's attention. Scions receive a letter and end up enlisting Sicard and his crew, Limsa pirates remain mostly the same but Sicard becomes like the stand-in for Cid for a lot of the expansion.
Yeah for sure, I have no idea how they're going to do the casting job if it's directly tied to the new world since they always make new jobs available in starting cities now.
My main guess is it's either a Pictomancer (which I really hope for) because, while I can't say for sure because I've never played it, apparently the expansion has major vibes of the FF game Picto came from (with Relmy), and because it would fit the visual themes of the expansion, or it'll be a nature mage, because nature themes of the expansion.
If it's a Picto, I'm guessing they'll make it like DNC where a group of them cross to Eorzea for business ventures (group of painters looking for new landscapes to paint and spread their art around), and if it's a nature mage I'm guessing it'll be like Samurai; a lone person that's from that group that crossed to Eorzea, in this case to learn more about the nature of the planet. Nature mages are fricking gay, I hope it's not that.
English voices are usually not a good idea for long lasting games since actors get swapped out all the time. In the Japanese industry it seems like seiyuu are obligated to voice their characters until they die.

Meteion sounds way too disdainful here. The Endsinger isn't supposed to be antagonistic, she's supposed to just be doing what she believes is natural for all life. In the original performance she's very resigned and depressed rather than angry and hateful. It's a good performance though, much better than Elidibus. English Zenos always sounded too much like a shounen villain and not enough like some guy who's jerking off to me, but he's still based anyways, it's hard to frick up Zenos.
EN Zenos is extra pretentious, it completely misses his dead inside mood when he's not in his murderhobo state. It's meme-worthy, but that's it. EN Emet and JP one are almost equally good, but I like acting of the JP one a bit more, he has a wider range of his emotions. >Venat

Zenos speaks like a scholar to show that he's not a moronic murder hobo but is extremely intelligent and just doesn't give a shit regardless. His interest in epic poems and heroic legends is also a big part of his character so it's natural that his speech would be influenced by that. Let's say 7.0 has Corsair and Pictomancer (best guesses with what we have right now).
MAYBE for 8.0 we can get Mystic Knight/Rune Fencer/Spellbade, or Time Mage.
After that they're either going to have to start dismantling jobs like Bard so we can have a Ranger, Warrior so we can have Viking, etc;
OR they're going to start scraping the bottom
of the FFTA barrel for jobs that have never really been true FF jobs like Juggler, Green Mage, Orator, etc.
OR they're going to come up with completely new, utterly cringe jobs that don't fit AT ALL, and it's going to suck.
Yoshida has already said FFXIV-unique jobs like GNB or Reaper would probably be the future.
GNB is not really new to XIV. Do not forget that they stopped giving jobs to characters in 7.
They were never jobs. GNB is based on a single character and weapon from FF VIII, and Reaper is entirely new. And no, it has nothing to do with Necromancer (which was only a job in the GBA version of FFV and has no similarities other than the concept being "edgy").

Geomancer was cannabalized by AST as of the SB job quests. Same with Black Belt/Monk, and Berserker/Warrior.
Part of the whole point was that they weren't quite as functionally alike as Kyokuho hoped, but combining their powers they were able to make a stronger seal again.
They both have similar fortune-telling, but the actual spell-casting XIV Geomancers have been seen doing is more like Conjurer (and uses the same elements - wind, water, and earth).
Necromancer is a full job in Tactics Ogre. Hard to obtain but it does exist. You know I wish there was some sort of a hidden job in XIV, something that you can't just unlock. A limited job but in a different sense.
It's called the Carrier job
The problem with Necromancer is that it'd just be an edgier SMN because XIV's pet AI is so horrifically dogshit they got rid of it for SMN and SCH. At least there's a mod that can fulfill the job fantasy somewhat.

If it makes you feel any better, Miqo'te share the Midlander rig (with some slight alterations), so if you're on PC you can easily swap the Miqo'te anims onto Middie. Fem Au'ra anims are the best imo but their skeleton is a bit too different and so it causes slight deformation, sadly.

I did that just to replace exclusively the run and walk animation while not touching anything else, and was planning on manually editing each keyframe of the fem au'ra run and walk anim to fit the Middie skeleton but I both don't even know if that would've worked, and also decided it was too autistic of an endeavor even for me and gave up.

Japanese voices: You get the quality you'd expect if you watch anime etc. If you have favorite voice actors you'll get excited about them being here too but not necessarily because their performance is exceptional in this game.
English: High highs and low lows. You get some really good performances you haven't heard anywhere else but personally I get too annoyed by stuff like non-pleasant sounding heavy accents or teenagers sounding like 40 year olds so I prefer JP.

Sicard is the quest starter, it's in Limsa, and the reason why it's magically come out of fricking nowhere is because the reformed pirates of Limsa have finally got their shit together and turned it into a privateering enterprise instead of a smuggling/looting/murdering one.
Solid guess, though I think that datamined letter will be the thing that gets the Scion's attention. Scions receive a letter and end up enlisting Sicard and his crew, Limsa pirates remain mostly the same but Sicard becomes like the stand-in for Cid for a lot of the expansion.
Yeah for sure, I have no idea how they're going to do the casting job if it's directly tied to the new world since they always make new jobs available in starting cities now.

My main guess is it's either a Pictomancer (which I really hope for) because, while I can't say for sure because I've never played it, apparently the expansion has major vibes of the FF game Picto came from (with Relmy), and because it would fit the visual themes of the expansion, or it'll be a nature mage, because nature themes of the expansion.
If it's a Picto, I'm guessing they'll make it like DNC where a group of them cross to Eorzea for business ventures (group of painters looking for new landscapes to paint and spread their art around), and if it's a nature mage I'm guessing it'll be like Samurai; a lone person that's from that group that crossed to Eorzea, in this case to learn more about the nature of the planet.

English voices are usually not a good idea for long lasting games since actors get swapped out all the time. In the Japanese industry it seems like seiyuu are obligated to voice their characters until they die.

Meteion sounds way too disdainful here. The Endsinger isn't supposed to be antagonistic, she's supposed to just be doing what she believes is natural for all life. In the original performance she's very resigned and depressed rather than angry and hateful. It's a good performance though, much better than Elidibus. English Zenos always sounded too much like a shounen villain and not enough like some guy who's jerking off to me, but he's still based anyways, it's hard to frick up Zenos.
EN Zenos is extra pretentious, it completely misses his dead inside mood when he's not in his murderhobo state. It's meme-worthy, but that's it. EN Emet and JP one are almost equally good, but I like acting of the JP one a bit more, he has a wider range of his emotions.

Zenos speaks like a scholar to show that he's not a moronic murder hobo but is extremely intelligent and just doesn't give a shit regardless. His interest in epic poems and heroic legends is also a big part of his character so it's natural that his speech would be influenced by that. If he's just boring in Japanese then it misses a core element of his character.
My issue with EN Emet was that his VA always tried to play up the snarky theater guy voice too much, even when Emet got serious and spoke with gravitas.

Positional requirements stopped mattering as soon as dragoon's combos stopped requiring them to function.
