I thought Tera was balanced and good because any pokemon can do it. Why do we keep seeing the same 10-12 mons? I'm very confused!
Any mon can do it = the rich get richer. Been telling people this for years, that the only issue with the distribution of megas was the fact that they gave them to shit like Salamence rather than just being powerups for shitmons.
The only thing that keeps me going is that gamefreak can't realistically keep making these shitty gimmicks for the games. Maybe I'm just high on copium but I really miss classic battles.

They nerfed it to the ground in gen 7 so it's fine.
Salamence was a bigger problem because even after a nerf it was still crazy strong.
Gimmick or no gimmick the meta will always be dominated by whatever is best. You only have enough space to work with before a metagame becomes solved. Wait until the one guy training an AI for VGC starts bringing some weird antimeta counterpicks the computer discovered, then everyone starts doing the same shit and the arms race spirals the scene.

What if tera worked like this:
Before the battle starts you can select 1 pokemon and they will start the battle already terastalized
No more bullshit 50/50s with guessing if your opponent will tera that turn and pokrmon held back by their typing like frosmoth will see use rather than people continuing to only use already good pokemon that become better with tera
Just make Tera last three turns.

This, if they didn't drop megas for regional gimmicks, most shitmons could be covered, they only need to adjust numbers or abilities of OP megas to make them sidegrades instead of upgrades for pesudos and everyone wins.
I have to wonder if GF is gonna keep digging their heels in and keep making more broken regional gimmicks while both fans and spin off media continue supporting and asking for Mega Evolution, or if they'll eventually snap and bring it back when they finally run out of dumb ways to frick the game up.

The worse thing about Flutter mane is Tera. Without it, it's much more easily manageable.
Tera is such a moronic gimmick with the way they haver it set up.
-Still get stab from your original typing
-instantly remove any weakness you may have
-Can hold Items
-Can mega boost your damage to absurd levels
-Can change any of your team Tera's at anytime
The only draw back to tera is that you gain the weakness of your chosen tera type. But then that doesn't really matter when you can handle your weakness, for example Tera Fairy Heatran or Tera Fire Rillaboom.

You are a fricking moron if you genuinely believe this. Tera wasn't even in the top 5 of the reasons it got kicked from OU and it's not even half the reason it's as good as it is in VGC. I can guarantee you that you can watch a VGC tourney fro start to end and it'd be the least Tera'd member of that tournament's Top 12 overall, especially when it's in contention with Tera-hogs like Heatran, Ogerpon, and H-Arcanine

Yes I know. That's my point. There's a reason why these top 10-12 mons are overcentralizing the meta. You're not going to find a serious team without these mons. Heatran even without Tera Handles Fluttermane easily. Iron Hands carries HEavy Slam and one-shots Flutter everytime. Flutter also takes neutral damage to Dark and I've easily taken them out with Scizor/Bullet punch. Flutter mane is manageable even without tera , but I never said it was "bad" without it. It's obviously a fricking strong pokemon. Don't put words into my mouth.
Tera isn't "the worst thing about it". The worst things about it are it's insane offensive STAB combo with such goot speed and sp.atk compounded by Booster Energy and Protosynthesis (and yes, these are separate because sets without Booster often run Torkoal or even Sunny Day Torn to activate it instead).
It wouldn't be "much more easily manageable" without Tera because Tera hardly factors into it's success as it stands (in fact, without Tera's existence, it'd probably be EVEN STRONGER because Pokemon that it normally beats that can frick it up instead upon defensively Terastallizing themselves like Urshifu and Iron Hands lose their main form of counterplay against it.)

This is just a over exaggeration. Not even going to bring up my own experiences, you don't need to tera to take out a normal Flutter mane. Even you yourself said that it's the least Tera'd member. You're acting like Urshifu and Iron Hands are the only mons that can take out Fluttermane. One of the reasons you don't see variety in these tourneys is because people pay quite a bit of money to even get there and they are going to use a tried and test combination that works. Go on Cart and you'll see plenty of pokemon that can handle flutter mane easily.

No, that wasn't my point at all. My point is that Flutter itself hardly uses Tera, whereas mons that it normally beats not only frequently use it, but often use it to get the leg up in the matchup against it specifically. With that gone, it'll be slightly worse overall, whereas they might also be slightly worse overall themselvesm, but they'd far worse in the matchup against it specifically, boosting Flutter's strength relative to its contemporaries.

Me personally, the pokemon I really hate fighting against is Tera Fairy Heatran who I think is alot worse, but I digress. I think we're saying and agreeing on the same thing. Yeah without Tera, we will be seeing different mons against Flutter mane, in fact I'm 100% sure the meta would be different, but teams will still have to preapre for Fluttermane regardless.
