Day/Night cycle sucks and they should've kept it removed after Gen 3

The whole point of Pokemon is to simulate an anime adventure hiking across the wilderness. And yet, whenever I play the game after school, the sun's already down in game, and my MC's still walking around the forests at fricking night time. NO ONE adventures like that; it COMPLETELY ruins the tone the games are going for. And yet, they HAVE to, because everyone's busy during the day, with either school or work, and they don't get to relax and game until it's already dark out. Hell, even Gen 2 gays didn't like the feature despite it being THEIR feature. So many people lamented at how they never caught a Teddiursa because they had to wake up at 6 in the fricking morning just to find one.

Meanwhile, in Gen 3? The sun's always up, so you always have that feeling of a warm tropical adventure. Everything is catchable at any time; no need to sleep-deprive yourself just to complete your Pokedex. And because it's always set during daytime, the scripted story events always play out exactly as they were intended to, without any stupid shit like Zinna knocking you unconscious until morning just because they didn't wanna introduce Rayquaza at 10pm in complete darkness.

WHY DID WE MOVE AWAY FROM THIS? Realism? Who is asking for "realism" in their Pokemon games, and at the cost of half of the game's atmosphere, no less?

I agree, in Gen 2 and 4-7 it's shit. But I'm fine with it if it's not based on real time.

incredibly based take, op. everyone just changed the clock if they wanted a time-specific pokemon. the main benefits are extra encounter tables and muh immersion at the expense of convenience

The main problem for me is the games aren't long enough to warrant 24 hour day/night cycles. It's not hard to beat the E4 from a fresh save in a few hours, but it feels silly in concept for a 10 year old to leave their house, raise a team, and conquer the hardest challenge in the region in the same afternoon. SV did it better with 72 minute cycles.

Autistic collectors will. You can beat Red from a new save in 12 hours pretty easily without much prior knowledge. It's not just Hoothoot, you'd miss out on night encounters entirely.

No clue what you're on about, the night in modern games is so bright anyway so your autistic complains are pointless
And I'm one of those people who can play videogames only past 10pm because they're busy with life before that

You're moronic. They need to add even more immersion stuff like more times of day, seasons again, variation in weather. It needs to feel like a real living breathing world since the appeal of the games is immersion into the world of Pokémon.

The only time I ever thought the time mechanic was bad was like 10 years after GSC came out and I figured out their batteries died much earlier than the RBY ones because of it. That one hurt a bit

yeah i think the rtc uses about twice as much power as the sram that holds the save file. the save batteries on some old nes and snes carts could last up to 25 years if you were lucky but your gsc save is gone in less than 10 guaranteed.

last time i played crystal was on an everdrive because i didn't want to replace the save battery *again*
