I sperged out about the black dude's weird upper half plate thing when we saw the first trailer, it is cut way too high to even be just a piece of a larger set, looks very dumb. main issue with that is that it is the main armor for Vermund, and you can see that high-cut breastplate on every soldier wear plate, lol, even if they have the bottom portion attached.

I see. yeah they looked similar to about half of lancer, but I didn't see all the magic projectile spam and dashing that scepter had. still it's not like we've seen all the skills each class gets. I'm also hoping they bring back the rage meter for warrior. they unfortunately still fell off compared to other classes in late game ddon, but being able to do burst dps and hit damage cap every attack at low levels was a blast.

The main issue with this is that we've seen a class using a censer in the first trailer and it looks like they're casting magic. This means that they would have to be the last hybrid which is green/blue. Unless there's more than one hybrid for each pair or even triple hybrids.
i dunno i'm not sure they'd bring over a class that was so linked to ddo setting and story without bringing that stuff over too

You were asking for spears, so of course the answer was yes. That said, the "no two weapons" rule that they seem to be following actually holds with it a glimmer of hope for speargays. If red/yellow isn't strider because dagger+bow isn't allowed, then a vocation that wields (and throws) spears would be one of the few remaining options that makes any kind of sense.

magic doesnt really get fun until later in the game. I usually start as melee class and then change to mage or to archer/swordsman hybrid late game.
I think in general, most people will find melee the most fun. It's more fast-paced and reactive in general, but sorcerer playstyle can be awesome for people who enjoy more of a focus on backline positioning and long cast times resulting in extremely satisfying payoffs. There's also a spell-syncing mechanic where you can piggyback off another nearby caster's spell and skip a lot of your cast time which is cool too.

Yes, the first time. I had better sklls and levels when I unlocked his quest (he died the first time I played the game, because I started on hard)
Also Mercedes to the Shadow Fort was wild as frick. Being like level 12, FIghting (and losing) against the first time I saw the Chimaera. Trying to search for a path to avoid the dragon who is near the fort.
But now I just teleport to every location
There's literally one coversation where you can give her ghost gifts and max out her affinity. And iirc, you can't do the quest until you then loop into ng+ with her affinity high enough.
The Duke is similar, but trickier. Since if you go back to see him after killing the dragon, your affinity drops to zero. So you have more opportunities to max him out, but you have to do the quest in ng+. So you can't go back to the castle after killing the dragon.

I hope DD2 has more regular spawns of big monsters. Maybe even randomly. Those fights are some of the best parts of the game but there weren't many overworld spawn locations for them. I think there were less than a dozen for cyclops alone in the mainland area that aren't tied to quests.
They don't need to be everywhere but for such a big part of the game they felt pretty scarce outside of the everfall or BBI.

I played Dragon's Dogma on release on the Xbox 360 with the Berserk collaboration armor and I have never desired co-op. Not that I would be against it, but personally I've never wished for it.

This is a good point, all of the game systems are made with the idea that you're controlling them and even taking advantage of them, another player would naturally want to do their own thing, unless they're really willing to roleplay being a pawn to the main player.
Pawns are just too integral to the story and world of Dragon's Dogma and there's no reason why they should be controlled by another human being. Multiplayer just doesn't make any sense in that universe.

The "town" part of it (not including the upper castle part) honestly looks smaller than gran soren's unless there's unseen parts. Based on the Griffin fly over it seems to be the main square part, and 1 street on either side of it. At least there's some outside fields & houses etc.

I think the only shopkeeper we've seen was Itsuno's waifu that he led the comedian to. We know very little about those aspects of the game. But I agree, forging stuff was a neat mechanic so hopefully it returns.
I'm not worried about RE Engine, its only apparent issues were the terrible SSR and TAA, other than that the game looked rather nice, I was specially impressed by the particles, but holy frick that performance on the demo was rough, it wasn't stuttery but it seemed to regularly drop into the 20 FPS, consolegays might have it rough and will likely be forced to use FSR to get close to 60 FPS.
I feel like RE Engine should be able to push this game to 60 on a PS5 to be honest. It did magic with DMC5 on PS4

My main concern from the first trailer was how similar it looked to gransys, and that was more or less resolved with this trailer. Canyon land looks cool and even the human kingdom looks distinct enough from the rest of the game, so I'm gonna say this is deserved.

the five shot bow is nowhere close to fivefold flurry + even if you are in witchtime it absolutely obliterates the framerate, and thus we are back to my point.
How is a five arrow lynel bow not close to fivefold flurry? They both spew five arrows at the same time. Also, while it can tank the framerate it doesn't always do it depending on the location. So if a game could handle a place like korok forest without lagging (like DD2 almost certainly can) then it would probably handle bomb arrow spam just fine.
Arrows in botw can interact with objects all over the map. You can cut down any random tree and use an arrow to adjust the direction of a stasis launch. However it is they did it would also work for objects in a random goblin camp.

I wasn't attacking a different argument, I was making the point that claiming stasis proves arrows are physics objects is provably incorrect, because swords aren't physics objects until they are thrown, and they affect stasis just fine. And I'm right, you either make arrows physics objects so they can interact with other physics objects or you pre-program interactions with objects, like the Elden Ring did with wind attacks deflecting arrows. You wouldn't argue the arrows in that game are physical, would you? No, because they obviously aren't.

Technically you could do that, but each one would have to be done manually across the map, and the TGS presentation makes it look like the goblin encampments may be sort of "random". It is still probably possible but I imagine they have much more pressing matters.

No, it just says "you've been hit" and then activates the physics of the apple accordingly. You shoot an apple in the game with a bow and it's gonna fly the same speed and opposite direction every time, because the only thing with physics is the apple, at least in that moment.
No idea how it works in TOTK because I've never played it but most of the physics in BOTW were puzzle-based objects and dropped items. I guess like the other anon said you could cut down trees n shit and send them flying but it really wasn't overly complex.
