Does /tg/ utilize any sort of AI for help in constructing their campaigns, whether it be for names, items, writing, imagery, characters, etc? I don't have any friends to D&D with, so I use GPT4 to basically D&D with myself. I tell the AI something along the lines of:
>I want you to be a D&D DM now
Then I give it my seven paragraph long details about the campaign's setting, characters, etc I want it to act out. It's been really damn good at it too, and combined with music and image AIs, they let me basically play single player D&D. What's /tg/'s stance on this?
>pic was created with Bing's Image Creator, "the exterior of a fantasy dungeon made entirely out of gold, concept art"
Here's another cool image from the same prompt.
>What's /tg/'s stance on this?
It's uncreative and lazy
So are human beings. No surprise. Honestly I'd take AI over 99% of people claiming to be creative and I went to college with these creative fricks.
>So are human beings
Yes I agree. Human beings are uncreative and lazy when they use AI to make their art instead of drawing it themselves.
>Honestly I'd take AI over 99% of people claiming to be creative and I went to college with these creative fricks.
The people who are claiming to be creative while not actually being so are the ones using AI.
>You use AI go make art, to make art.
nonsense sentence
>It’s now a layered affair. Deal with it. There is no stopping this.
What does the supposed inevitability of AI art have to do with it being uncreative and lazy? If AI were so inevitable then why would you have to shill it so hard?
>Most anger I detect seems to be from fear, fear that they will be replaced. I get it, humans are obsessed with art, but it also binds us, and holds us hostage.
Perhaps people don't like it because it's uncreative, lazy and looks like shit.
I thought this thread was a bit too calm. I guess the Americans woke up now
>Perhaps people don't like it because it's uncreative, lazy and looks like shit.
It's lazy and looks like shit if you put 0 effort into using it at all because you are some kind of base animal who doesn't understand aesthetics. You can get quite appealing pics if you put a modicum of effort in and have any sensibility.
Black Tifa is REEEEEAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!
>Honestly I'd take AI over 99% of people claiming to be creative and I went to college with these creative fricks.
What were these creative types like? Maybe I can avoid their schticks and actually be creative.
Typically the least creative people I've met like to talk about how creative they are and how following any system or guidelines stifles their creativity. The most talented people I've met often shit-talk the value of creativity or outright claim they aren't creative at all.
AI is one of the best things ever to be given to imaginative/creative thinkers who need to get some things done faster. Potentially, anyway.
You use AI go make art, to make art. It’s now a layered affair. Deal with it. There is no stopping this.
Most anger I detect seems to be from fear, fear that they will be replaced. I get it, humans are obsessed with art, but it also binds us, and holds us hostage.
Why would I do that when I can access terabytes of perfectly good human-made content through the sharethread?
>they let me basically play single player D&D
just play a video game you fricking loser
NPCs will love ai DMs to run "single player games." They only dislike using their imagination. Hopefully npc players who play like PRIME DIRECTIVE: OPTIMIZE BUILD AND WIN THE GAME or I AM ROLEPLAYING MY HUMANOID FANTASY OF HAVING GREAT WEALTH AND POWER, BEEP-BOOP, will frick off to their robot games.
I dont because whether im dming or playing whatever i do is intentional. I know what has to happen next because it follows logically from what happened before, chatbots just arent capable of that kind of continuity or object permenance
this, there is nothing coherent to explore. no secret to discover, just stuff randomly made up that might line up with the previous sentence but will likely completely contraddict what was said 5 sentences ago. also a human dm can remember the events of dozens of sessions, while even the most powerful ai struggles with just one and will probably make up incoherent shit long before reaching it's limit anyway
I hope you have written a bot for these spamshit threads otherwise it's really sad
I would sooner drag my balls across shattered glass than have AI-slop cancer involved in any of my games.
Stop spamming these dogshit threads
Shouldn't have bumped this shit anon
For me, solo D&D is more like a communion with my subconscious mind. Think of it like dreaming. I don't need AI. If you deeply imagine something, it will come to life eventually. It will act in ways that you can't predict. So, I recommend you think of solo more as a way to deeply imagine something until it takes on a life of it's own. Though AI will eventually end us all.
This is how I do it too. AI scratches a different itch, a social itch, but it never quite reaches the heights of being truly lost in your own imagination.
I solely use it for generating token pics for monsters that I have an idea for and can't find an alternative online for. Generally speaking if there was a better place to find images and artists had better tagging on their pics I'd be more inclined to spend longer hunting for them, but it gets annoying very fast and AI ends up being more convenient. The downsides of it looking shitty up close is irrelevant because I'm using these images as tokens to convey a general idea, it doesn't need to be perfect.
Using it for anything else feels lazy and boring, TTRPGs are a game about ideas and creative expression, AI should be used as an extension of that expression, not as a replacement.
I feel like I ask this every time a thread like this pops up and never get a response, but where do other GMs go to get resources for token images or other art?
>pic
I refuse to believe that was done by an ai
It's definitely the single best pic I've ever gotten from it, pic related is a more typical result.
But you can tell the spiderwolf is AI by looking at the details, one of the legs is fricked up at the end, the "fangs" of the spider proper are ill defined, plus the front legs sort of meld into eachother on inspection. But these are extremely minor errors compared to the typical image I've seen this thing produce. It was so good I even spent a while looking up pics of spiders+wolves trying to see if someone had made a similar pic that the AI might have been copying off of, but found nothing.
Pretty cool, which model did you use? Seems like this one can make images with some sort of logic to them
I just use midjourney cause I'm lazy. It's certainly not perfect and it generally takes a few tries to get an approximation of what you want, but it's better than nothing if you can't find an alternative. I've also had success using mspaint drawings and img2img, although details get lost in translation (especially helmets for some reason).
For reference, I used the following prompts for each image:
Spider Wolf:
>illustration of a wolf and spider hybrid
Spider Wolf Hatchlings:
>swarm of tiny wolf and spider hybrids
Pic related:
>https://s.mj.run/oehFWasTN68 Tolkien Orc
That link is to an upload on discord of my mspaint Orc pic that I wanted it to base the image on.
>I just use midjourney
Shame, thought I could find an alternative for imagine
>I've also had success using mspaint drawings and img2img, although details get lost in translation (especially helmets for some reason)
I've had the opposite, for some reason it gets the helmets perfectly, sometimes even surpassing what I imagined, but it does the weapons like shit
>I used the following prompts
The prompts kind of suck but to be honest the positive and negative prompts are really strange anyway, like if I add something as a negative prompt I somehow jinx it into the next images
>https://s.mj.run/oehFWasTN68
I'd say the AI did a damn good job, tweak your prompt a bit to remove some of the AI blur and it's gonna look perfect, though idk if you can add negative prompts to midjourney
>tweak your prompt a bit to remove some of the AI blur and it's gonna look perfect
Thing is, perfect doesn't matter for my use case, especially after I toss the result through tokenstamp and downscale it.
Ah, makes sense, that does look completely serviceable
>Does /tg/ utilize any sort of AI for help in constructing their campaigns, whether it be for names, items, writing, imagery, characters, etc?
I use it by drawing an image and then using an img2img bot. Since text2img and online concept art is too generic for my setting I kind of have to rely on this. I've always been an OK artist, but I never liked drawing, it's not fun to me, so I'm glad I have AI to auto-complete some of my concept art I do in like 20 mins
Care to share any before and after images?
Yeah, here you go
See, this is what AI should be used for. Everyone wants to make cool art but those who suck at it (myself included) don't want to spend years just to make a few cool concepts. Image-to-image is a fricking GODSEND in this case. It's almost magic (pun not intended)
I haven't, kind of want to use it to come up with names since I have trouble with that part but don't really know how to do it.
can you just make a general so i can filter you
I sincerely don't see the point of using AI for anything.
>Art? Why not just google shit, you'll get similar results
>Bounce plotlines? Do that with people, ChatGPT is shit at it
>design an entire story? Why not just use a module if the bot will make the entire thing for you?
>Think of maps and design dungeons? Just grab a pencil, you can make some squares and circles by yourself
I really can't see any use for it. Most of the time it's just people shoving AI character art onto their sheets, and how is that any different or better then just google-image fu?
>Art? Why not just google shit, you'll get similar results
Because some people are anal about specifics?
How are you even alive, by not taking this extra step to think, anon?
It's actually surprisingly difficult in my experience to find more "average" looking character art due to the selection bias of what gets posted online.
For player-characters this isn't an issue of course - everyone likes playing pretty characters, but as a GM trying to populate NPCs it can be surprisingly difficult to get average-looking, ugly, or homely portraits.
Useful for character or background art when I want something specific (or something realistic), useless for everything else.
Nooo stop using AI, I need someone to keep buying commissions so I can afford HRT!!!
>commissions
The frick does this? I just look up art on gelbooru and downscale it into tokens. Half my stuff started as pornography but my players will never know since it's all from the neck up.
>thread about AI
>absolutely no mention of gender anything
>mind immediately goes to HRT
You sure you aren't repressing something?
Trans people are the new israelites to /misc/tards.
What about trans israelites? Or transhuman israelites? Or trans-transhuman israelites?
Transjews?
>Oh you mean the ones that can transform into "My fellow white people" to "Oy Vey, I'm not white I'm israeli" and back again?
Nah, that's an occasional mutation. I meant troony israelites!
Ah, the weapon turns upon its master. I see what you mean.
REPGANG REPGANG REPGANG
REPGEN HYPERWARRIORS WILL OWN THE LIGHTCONE
>Artificial Intelligence
I think it's pointless to keep throwing money at AI until we deal with the more pressing problem of natural stupidity.
Ha. Bet you thought I was going to say "climate change", didn't you?
Yeah I use it to make art for tokens because it's free and I'd rather do that than pay some CalArts doodler for some shitty isometric pawns for my VTT. I don't make money off of my games so i don't care if AI is plagiarism or not.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Of course a D&D moron would find AI excellent at writing/DMing kek.
I tried it once to bounce some ideas around, and it only came up with the dullest, corniest, midwittest takes I could imagine (as it is expected I guess of how it works right now, it basically blends up the most common shit it can find in its databases). But maybe it is perfect if you are playing some braindead plastic garbage made for fat americans.
About time the anti-AI gays showed up, I was almost getting worried they wouldn't thrash this thread at the very mention of AI, but they always deliver.
I'm not anti-AI (not in this sense at least, I'm "against" AI only in the sense that it will become god sooner or later and that's kinda trippy).
It's just that it still garbage at creative writing. I love using it for background images that I put in sequence in a big TV next to our table when we play tho, helps with atmosphere for my Bronze Age America campaign.
>It's just that it still garbage at creative writing
Big fact. AI is only "good" at writing in the same sense that a robot is "good" at working at a factory. It's essentially doing the unskilled labour of writing
>JUMP HEAD FIRST INTO THE CHICKEN MACHINE AND GET GRINDED INTO GOYSLOP FOR PLUS SIZED BLACK TRANS QWEENS!
I dunno basedjak... maybe we should think this through. Perhaps not all technology is go-
>UHHHH... LUDDITE! FRICKING GET HIM! YOU CAN'T STOP PROGRESS CHUD!
What is it about AI that turned half of the rightoids here into lobotomized consoomerist Moviebob clones?
It's new
>seething at AI
Couldn't be me. It's just another tool. Of course trannoids will find something to complain about it.
Anti-A.I. artists: I'm going to level with you: Let's just say I'm trying to make a product, a tabletop game. I need some basic images for my manual. This is totally hypothetical and in no way something I actually discovered and learned for myself, trust me bro
>I want the art style to be consistent through the entire manual, which usually means using the same artist.
>Most of this will be images of environments (cities, jungles, etc.) as well as various monsters, weapons, equipment.
>Even though I want a consistent style, I can get away with having one do environments, one do creatures, and one do 'gear'.
>So I'd need at most 3 artists if I want to keep the styles consistent
>The prices I'll get for a commission of something as simple as a weapon: $75 each
>Landscapes/environments are like $200 minimum, each
>Monsters can range from $75-$200 each
>Even in its most modest form, with the barest imagery possible in black and white: this book would cost me close to $5000.
>Most artists can't even handle the workload for the amount of images I'd need anyway, but are willing to 'crunch' if I pay them more
>I'm just a regular dude, I'm not a company. I don't even care about the money for my product- I just want to make something fun
>I want images. I don't care about your time, your 'livable wage', etc.- I just need a product, and you're charging me way more than I can ever hope to afford
>I do not care about your personal life and struggles, we are not friends and we don't even know each other
>I assure you, I need money just as badly as you or anyone else, and I can't afford to hand out $5000 and wait 2 years for all the artwork to be finished
>It also doesn't help that a large number of artists will take a commission and never finish it, and we all know this is common
>If an artist was willing to work for a dividend of the profits- I'd be more than happy to do that, but that gets scoffed at.
You're goddamned right I'm gonna use an AI program.
>I want the art style to be consistent through the entire manual
>You're goddamned right I'm gonna use an AI program.
Consistency is AI's biggest problem, though. You generate a waifu through the prompt gacha and are satisfied with her, good luck ever replicating her outfit past a passing similarity in further prompts. Hell just compare the differences between
and
. And that's a generic monster manual style monster where stark differences between depictions can be given a pass, unlike a character whose silhouette has to be consistent or a location where the landmarks have to always be in the same place.
At this point, if I've got a choice between 'slightly inconsistent imagery styles' and 'Spend 5 grand on a whiny, entitled Tumblr-doodler? I'll settle with slightly inconsistent. At least all I need to do to get them to match up is tinker with the words a bit more until they're close enough.
You'll probably be spending a while working at it if you want the art to be any good. But if you're a total poorgay then your time's worth less than your money, so that's fine.
People who think they can just shove a prompt in and get something nice out without any effort are fricking deluded and contributing to a deluge of complete trash.
I've got like 75% of the environments done, and about half of the more unique monsters already done. You're not entitled to my money, get a real job to pay off the student loans for your art degree and quit being a bum.
Uhh. I didn't say anything about you needing to pay for an artist. Did you, in fact, just shove in shitty keywords and put zero effort into tweaking them for good results? If you did you'll have trash at the end.
I'll have trash, and money- and you'll still be begging for work and going hungry. How's that?
Okay. Contribute to the deluge of garbo AI art, I guess. Everyone will look at it and almost instantly hate it because you have no aesthetic sense.
I'm not an artist myself, I use AI art quite a bit now, but I take my time and tweak and edit and blend to get something worthwhile.
My dude if you want me to be legit with you? I have a friend that's very savvy with the prompts that helps me out a lot, and she's not disappointed me yet. She's teaching me quite a bit, and it is more complex than I'd thought it would be- but it can also be a lot of fun seeing what you get.
You sound like that Black person that got bullied for his mud mind shit the other day.
Black folk can't form complete sentences, everyone knows this.
>I do not care about your personal life and struggles, we are not friends and we don't even know each other
You, my friend, are an absolute frickwit. I am convinced you work some medium authority middle management job and everyone that works with you can't stand you and your petty bullshit. People in general, are much better to work with if you don't treat them like shit. Think about that.
If I ran the world, you'd be chained to an oar.
If I ran the world, you'd be chained to a boar.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Yeah bro you are 100% correct. AI fills that gap and allows people to get decent art without the massive wait times. If an artist is good they won't be losing money.
Don't worry dude, literally the only people who mald over AI are troony freaks. Normal people think it's fun and useful.
AItrannies deflecting again.
Much like trannies, they love to pretend to be something they will never be.
There no "antiai" crowd, people are done and tired of your awful garbage spam of images. Even deviantart are forcing AIshitters to tag their miscreations.
Cope and seethe in any way you want.
Trips of truth
>You're not wrong, but I think the nice way to put it:
I'm not using AI to make a product and make a profit. In fact, the stuff I'm making? All the core rules will be free, public domain, available to all. I wouldn't feel right about using AI art for my own personal gain. If I were to make a module that I intend to sell, I'd work with artists that are willing to be reasonable- but I'd also be keeping things more simple, less detailed. The core rulebook is intended to set an aesthetic/mood.
I used it to generate the armour my players found last session , i think it's ok
Quite nice, which model?
Can we just get a dedicated containment thread for all ai conversations? This is just getting tiresome at this point.
No, there are plenty of threads on other boards. This shit does not belong here.
"They" don't care. He's just here to shitpost and troll because he knows we don't want him here. He's essentially just dragongay except autistic about poorly drawn pseudo-art of people with pointed ears and fricked up hands and feet. The threads consistently almost fall off the board and then gets a gay bump as he samegays inane replies, and when the thread dies he immediately starts a new one.
He's essentially just a cuck, and the mods are cucks too and refuse to do anything about it.
So fricking new he doesn't even know what trips are.
AI gents, how much computational power and disk space does a personal chatbot like gpt or other need to output rapidly? Does it need server stacks or something or ancient PC can suffice?
I don't know details because I haven't personally tried to run one, but they take a lot. A lot more than image AI
Anti-AI people are silly, like all those who complain about engineering or science at their specific evolution state, only ever presuming "it can't be done", never appreciating anything, and equate all AIs to some content parser.
AI people, at this time, somehow still haven't figured out how to make original content generative systems without use of training material.
Unsurprising, I suppose.
>somehow still haven't figured out how to make original content generative systems without use of training material.
yes because real intelligence and skill just spontaneously comes into existence without any external stimuli. that's why all the best art is created when the artist is 1 second old.
You jest, but such competence tiers are IRL possible. That aside, its possible to program an entity to be capable of all the things necessary to make correct outputs from the scratch. It's just more exhausting. Putting all the construction weight unto neural nets in this "figure it out" style is a lazy way to go about it.
Make a complete abstract paint machine first, make it comprehensible to machine, then make neural net use it.
>AI people, at this time, somehow still haven't figured out how to make original content generative systems without use of training material.
If a human has never seen a zebra in person, they can still draw a picture of it. The quality will depend on their artistic skill, but they can still draw it and get the general idea. Even without ever seeing an actual zebra. This is because they've seen photos and other art of zebras. The zebra they draw is the compilation of all the zebra pictures they've ever seen, which is very similar to AI training.
The problem is with extrapolation. A human can recognize a school bus flipped over onto its side even though it cannot be represented as any blend of images of upright school buses. An image classification AI cannot.
AI is awful as a DM, because it lacks the creativity to progress the story and not stumble on every second message. However, it can be tolerable as a player, being guided.
I feel like AI may offer the Final Solution to the no good cyberpunk city map tool problem.
Sadly I don't have a non-shit graphics card yet so I'm reduced to begging for people here to put this pic into img2img with prompts like "gritty cyberpunk city map"
I like generating imaginary miniatures.
That's very cool as a concept. I have been trying to learn how to make STL's for 3D printed miniatures for fantasy games, and I want to focus on making things that you don't usually see.
>We've got more than enough generic things, I wanna make oddities
I use it a lot, for art, for working through my ideas to add texture, it's an amazing tool. I haven't tried to use it for solo gaming but I suspect it wouldn't be much fun because chatbot AIs are very limited in how often you can interact with them and you could easily waste 4 hours of use just getting through a couple rooms in a dungeon.
Anyway, anti-AI shills are all trannies and I enjoy their fear and desperation to stop this innocuous little tool that has deprived them of a future as a furry porn artist on twitter.
>one AI goyslop shilling thread dies
>there's immediately a new one just by sheer coincidence
many such cases
Now please frick off and die you detestable pusstain.
I greatly prefer generating AI pictures to trawling deviantart and artstation for pictures (of elves)
She's one awkward step or a stiff breeze away from showing us the Sylvaneth Slot
>awkward step
she's an elf. She could walk on a tightrope in those heels if she wanted to
>stiff breeze
elves are friends with the wind spirits and protected against sudden gusts of wind that would compromise their modesty
good to know you've missed me!
Jesus how uncanny, please use AI responsibly by only using the cute anime settings.
Don't mind me, I'm just walking around with a leaf blower. I'll be damned if some knife-eared spiritualist bullshit will stop the inevitable.
frick off tourist
>the AIslop elf spammer found his home again
I find ai generators helpful to create images that it would otherwise take me a long time to track down, or don't exist at all. Pic related.
1. These programs are not Artificial Intelligence by any stretch of the imagination and every time you call it that you prove how little you understand the subject.
2. This is a hobby about creativity and imagination and you want it to outsourced to a statistical model? What the frick is wrong with you people? Do something else. This activity clearly doesn't fit you.
1. I agree, but it's what people have chosen to call it. It's like the media naming generations, once it sticks it's hard to get it unstuck.
2. I'm having fun and you can't stop me. I'm able to populate a world with unexpected characters, and the images inspire me to make up stories in my head about them like when I was a kid and got a new action figure.
And there the homosexual is, just on time, bumping his homosexual shit from pg. 9, with shit.
It's funny how every time AI breaks the last goal post, it moves once more, and people claim that it's not AI. Funny how that works huh...
No. It looks awful.
At first I was like
>"Sorry commissions are closed for the next 6 months"
>"Just a character profile image roughly the size of a playing card? Black and white? $200."
>"Sorry, I know I was supposed to finish this like 9 months ago, but here you go."
>"LOL good luck finding an actual skilled artist, my prices are fair"
>"I know it doesn't like anything like the reference model you gave me, but it's close enough. Guy in armor, right?"
But then I was like
>"REEEEE!!! WHY WON'T YOU GIBS ME MONEY?!?!? COMPUTER TEXTY-PICTURE MAKER BAD!!! YOU NEEEEEEED ME!"
so, like, is every AI art shill someone who's seething at commission prices?
This seems to be their universal cry, and I have got to say, this is an interesting insight into the minds of people who pay for porn.
>interesting insight into the minds of people who pay for porn.
Leave it to the coomers to mention porn for no reason
