How can you NOT want to be the main tank? Surprises the living hell out of me I don't have to fight for the position.
I like to play in a dps role
>cucklord dps early pulls
>sissyhealer rescues you for no reason to force you positioning the boss differently or sth
>ot randomly provokes 10s after pull because he thinks he should be the main character
>ot randomly provokes 10s after pull because he thinks he should be the main character
Death sentence via dick flaying. If you need to voke to take hate you don't deserve it.
>OT provokes to try and become the main character
>you reassert dominance and steal it right back with raw DPS
Feels good man
>he get pissy and spends the rest of the fight provoking on CD and spinning the boss
Feels less good man
Let OT eat the Tank buster then.
Same goes for DPS in alliance raids who think they are special and don't stack with the rest of the party. Always stand next to them with the Tank buster mark over your head.
>End up as an the off tank
>Accidentally steal agro
>Everyone thinks I'm being a dick but I just really suck
>Even though I shirk it the damage is already done and I look stupid
Main tank is unironically less stressful because I don't have to worry about stepping on any toes (except when I keep dying to a mechanic or something of course.)
I mean. Off tanking is pretty easy to not steal. If the mt has their stance on and you are not spamming ranged or provoke it should be pretty much mathematically impossible to steal unless they are doing literally no damage.
Sometimes I need to toggle on my provoke for the sake of a mechanic (which I only halfway know because I don't watch videos pre-fight,) rounding up ads, or dealing with a secondary boss, which is where things can get messy on accident. Especially since I'm really forgetful and sometimes miss that I have it toggled on when I'm done (or forget to toggle it on when I'm trying to do these mechanics.) There's also that awkward dance right at the start in alliance raids where I'm not always sure (because I didn't see) who has their stance on or not, or in a normal raid where I turn my stance on first, but then they end up turning their stance on afterwards, generally not right away but a little bit into the fight. I know the bad etiquette is on their part in that case, but I feel terrible fighting them for aggro and generally just let them take it so everyone can just clear.
they're making roes so kissable in 7.0
Roes are for face tanking. Not for kissing.
now for both
Do we really need another xiv thread? please go back to /vg/ and stop trying to make it seem like your game is anything but dead.
there is a wow thread you can go back to you fricking baby
Janitor applications are closed
probably because they're boring as frick to play and you have to co-tank with some dumb moron in trials and even worse raids
that being said when I do tank i go GNB because explosions
This is why I play as Tank for all reasons listed BUT not as OT. You're basically accepting that you are in fact inferior. I will fight for aggro until I'm MT and I will make everyone's night a miserable experience unless and until I am MT.
You try and fight me with your provoke? I'll fight for aggro right up until the moment and then when I know a tank buster is coming, and see your mits are on cooldown, and healer mana is running low I'll shirk Aggro to you and punish you for making me have to fight for my birthright.
If you get me as a Tank in your party in PF you better hope you don't try and make me the OT.
If you can take hate without provoking and keep it then by birth right mt is yours. You don't sound like that though. Also you're a fool if you think I don't have my shirk macro already perma locked on the other tank.
Oh you want to go? You want to fricking go, I'll fricking fight you. I'll burst my entire fricking WINDOW on opener to make sure you aren't getting anywhere close to Aggro priority.
>Not too lazy to set up macros
Couldn't be me
>Macros
You think I'm doing that gay shit? The most I'll do to custom my hotbars is make sure all mits are on one line and I don't forget to put LB up there for the handful of fights I've ever had to use my Tank LB in 5k hours of playthrough.
>gay shit
I am feeling generous.
>micon "Shirk" action
>/ac "Shirk" <2>
>/ac "Shirk" <2>
>/ac "Shirk" <2>
>/ac "Shirk" <2>
It now looks exactly like shirk and will auto target the other tank every single time automatically with zero other input. Ur welcum
I don't need macros for that homosexual shit, I got the fastest fingers in the West. Able to pussy bang to climax in under 2.45 seconds.
lala tanks are the funniest shit
Why did you post a blank background?
femroes are getting even hotter
Ganker likes to call femroes ogres
unfortunately for this board, i've wanted to rail princess fiona absolutely fricking nasty since my formative years
roes are literally the orc/ogre/bigguy/4u standin for the setting
they're oni lorewise, the red ones live near volcanoes and the seafaring ones are blue-green
I don't tank or heal because I shun all responsibility for my actions while like a true Black Mage main.
>press 1
>press 2
>press 3
>[45 seconds later] woaaaaah! you get to press 4 one time for being a good boy and pressing 1-2-3 so many times!
>over simplify job
>every role is simple
>haha ded geam!
Go ACK in a corner no one gives a shit troony.
>I HAVE A ROTATION! I HAVE A ROTATION! I HAVE A ROTATION!
just hit the reprisals, bluecuck.
how do i make my tank look like this
be a roe and equip literally any plate armor
As someone who once did play as Roe, just know the hitboxes are definitely not designed around it. There's a reason why most go Middie or catboy. Camera angles, boss placements e.t.c. all get extra fricked the bigger you are.
Changing to highlander was like activating Ultra Instinct, it's an imaginary dot directly between my character's feet that is the actual hitbox, but I had no issues adapting to highlander's size and lower angles after years of roe play.
thats why i went from roe to lala
don't regret it cuz lala is hilarious
what a little chad
Can someone give me a qrd on EW? I dipped out after ShB release, meaning that I did a single clear of Titania EX on release and never touched the game since. I've been missing the game quite a bit and will commit to starting over on a new char to go through everything again, but the little bits of lore I've seen about EW seem quite dull.
Alternatively, if you guys have any suggestions for FFXIV lore channels, I'd love to give those a go as well.
tfw I just found out you can mod animations in this game. I can't wait to un-sissify WHM for myself and remove all the flowery/heart garbage
Are you looking forward to the updated character graphics? It won't matter most of the time, but the various cutscenes should be looking a lot nicer.
Looks sad and depressed before, actually looks stern, focused and chad in the update.
Ok well frick me, I am impressed as an Elezen main that's also my face option so this gave my bollocks the tingly good feels.
this is why im happy they're giving out free fantasia
I've been playing a duskwight for years and wonder how the charcoaly skin will look. The dark skinned examples looked pretty good. More shadow depth on the character, nicer hair should be cool.
I don't have a MMO mouse or controller so playing tank on FFXIV is a fricking nightmare due to all the spells you gotta use for rotation. I prefer my MHA. Nice, simple, fire a gun and you get a big robot.
what the frick is MHA
you don't need an ammo mouse or controller either just don't bind your buttons across the entire keyboard like a moron
I don't use an MMO mouse I don't even know what MHA is. I increased my UI for my buttons to 200%, I'm half a clicker and half a button masher and yes I have cleared Pand Savage and progging DSR right now.
Clicking is completely viable in FFXIV, in the hardest content due to the slower GCD speed.
>leader of the p
stopped right there. I don't give a shit to put any effort just give me gear while I faceroll some dps buttons, thanks
>Just wants to press buttons while he mongs out high on xannies
WoW is more what you're after.
Because people tend to be rude when you frick up as a tank and there's so many dungeons and trials in the game that I'm scared to queue up for roulettes because I probably forgot most of the mechanics.
Just say
>"shit it's been a while since I got this one"
Trust me when I say 99% of the time most people are thinking the same, but don't want to be the first person to say it, you being the Tank saying that breaks the ice, breaks the tension.
Worse that happens is you get some autist who doesn't understand social cues, it's just a chatbox, you don't have to let it ruin your day. I won't do it but if it's really getting to you, you can close it you know? Although it's just text on the screen it's not going to fricking hurt you, you still have the option to close the chat box.
>"shit it's been a while since I got this one"
Basically do this every run. Like you said breaks any tension and gets people actually talking beyond o7. If you frick up won't matter. I have yet to meet a single person who was a c**t after I said that. Also it generates triple comms like crazy when you do a decent job.
Thanks, I'll try that one. I know it's dumb to be scared of online people, but somehow I turned into a pussy over these last few years.
I remember not too long ago I ended up in a fricking ARR dungeon where everyone kept dying over and over again. We talked in chat for a while and NOBODY remembered the mechanics so I eventually had to open up a fricking wiki page and read up about it.
I'm just upfront and tell them in any dungeon I'm not confident in that I'll do my hardest to get them all killed.
Which typically just means Bardam's and Gulg at this point. It's my job to get everybody killed, and it's their job to stop it. And if the healer wants me to pull small, they can simply ask.
>And if the healer wants me to pull small, they can simply ask.
I like to stress test my healer. First I'll do a big wall 2 wall when most of my mitigations are still up. If they really can't keep up it is better to pop your invul nice and early so you can use it later if required. If you have to use it then you know you can't go balls out. If they can keep pace then there are no brakes on the rape train going forward. I found asking if they were comfortable with big pulls lead to timid femboy healbawds claiming they can't possible handle a pull that big. It would tear them apart. Much easier to see if they can endure me at maximum girth and speed. You're be surprised what you can live through.
Literally me, people like you are the reason I forced myself to practice healing in Bardams for the wall to wall pulls.
And it made you a better healer and more confident.
I've similarly stopped actively asking beforehand, because one times too many it has led to me just standing around doing nothing with the whole party awkwardly waits while they simply don't respond. Now I just always default to big, and if we fail or they want smaller, they can come to me for it
Also screw you, I wish I got more timid femboy healbawds to spoil and bully goddamnit.
W2W is piss easy if a tank can rotate their mits. My sweatiest heal scenarios have been with geniuses that will at most pop one or no mit at all forcing me to use gcd heals. As a GNB I just rotate my shit and never have a problem. Low lvl dungeons are a different deal, though. AST healing is quite comfy.
Leearning how to tank really is kinda borked due to the fact that ARR dungeons are the scariest fricking things in this game to tank through. Not every one is hard but they have no rails and actually allow you to make mistakes.
Made worse when healers don't realize that they really have no purpose at low level beyond simply hardcasting their strongest cure back to back, like, b***h I am the only one in this party with an AoE and I am tanking like 20 things at once, keep those Adloquiums coming for frick's sake
Absolutely. High level play has accustomed healers to dmg in between heals. That is impossible in several ARR dungeons without the tank dieing.
>W2W is piss easy if a tank can rotate their mits.
I am in physical anguish when tanks do not fully utilize sprint or arm's length.
>when you mistime your sprint and end up with only 10 seconds as opposed to 20
Tank queues in my experience are slower than healer queues, for some reason, because I think tanking is much more stressful a process but still not actually stressful at all, it's chill as hell 99% of the time.
Meh, in my opinion this only really applies if you play gunbreaker or MAYBE Paladin. Your rotation is still pretty dull, but it's nowhere near as boring and uneventful and Warrior rotations.
I definitely find melee DPS to be the most fun.
