Really? I played it for the first time today and after 3 hours I'm not impressed.
Gets better once you unlock weapons and zombie types, it for sure waits waaaaay to long to introduce harder zombies and specials
But not for everybody for sure, if you hated dying light 1 or dead island you wont like it, personally im tired of this "ambitious" crap in Dying Light 2, i just want to fricking fight zombies
No I really liked the first dead island and dying light 1, haven't played 2. Hope you are right because when I played the first one as a teen I thought it was the coolest shit ever, so I do want to like this game.
I still think Dying Light 1 is much better, but the tech and graphics and level design really carry this for me, this level of worldbuilding through level design i only saw in Deus Ex Manking Divided before. Nothing is copy pasted, everything placed clearly inspired by real locations.
Dying Light 2 sucks, no clue why they made it about fighting random humans in melee combat instead of fighting zombies, its so fricking bizarre.

I have to say the level design is also what stood out to me from the few things I've seen till now, which were basically just a couple villas but still. The interior was really well designed and yeah the graphics are great as well.
It does genuinely get better. A frick ton better. Not saying its an amazing game but its good

I only made it two hours because it felt like I was hitting the zombies with noodles or some shit. I blame the devs for hiding analog combat in the first game in the menus and not making it default. Combat still feels so good in that game and just doesn't in this one.
I beat it once but having no voice chat in the game was a real bummer, really lacked that feeling of jumping in with random survivors and actually co-operating with them to get stuff done. Instead everyone I played with would bumrush the main missions or frick off if you tried do anything else, there was no way to tackle side missions because I couldn't fricking communicate with anyone.
I hate how anti social MP games are now, which is why I mostly play single player games. The other players may as well be NPCs.
The game was pretty fun besides that, but I never got the co-op feeling that the first one gave me, despite playing with other people.
It wasn't ignored. People played it, enjoyed it and talked about it. It's just a standard singleplayer game so obviously people didn't stick around forever talking about it. There is nothing wrong with a title being a flavour of the month game at all, OP.
Yeah it's much better than the first game. first 2 hrs is quite dull but once you unlock some skills and good weapons shit's pretty fun. really solid 7/10 game.
there game looks kino so often, and runs great even at 4k native, which isnt guaranteed those days

Baked GI into color lightmap, same stuff Mirrors edge 1 used, so you are limited by vram with no extra performance cost
While lightmaps exist since quake 1, it seems like most studios out to do simple black and white bakes, shame, then again in few years raytracing wont be such a performance hog so real time gi will be possible in every game

Bleed guns are good but "element" damage kinda sucks due to being negated by same element zombies or firefighter zombies.

once you unlock them you can go a gun only run if you want, there is enough gun times to fill inventory only with them
I would never use a gun over a melee weapon unless I was just fricking around. I didn't like the guns in the first game and I don't like them in this game not that it bothers me because I prefer the melee combat anyway even if the guns were good
they are really good, especially for boss killing
but shit like rifles, nailhuns have so much ammo, and you can craft ammo almost for free that you can run gun only if you want, though you unlock guns after few missions but still early in the game
also you can mod the guns the same way you do weapons, with fire, bleed, electric and so on and diffrent perks

This game genuinely felt like it was designed by AI. It just has this uncanny, inhuman feel to it. I'm so fricking sick of Californian English too.
I tried it and I'm not sure it does anything better than DL2 tbh. Combat feels almost as shitty and stiff as Dead Island 1. Dying Light 2's melee combat feels more impactful to me, even with the fricked hitboxes.
morons are unironically hyping this game up lol. The combat is painstakingly average. Even when you get maxed level. Weapon mods have like 4 elemental enchantments, then you can add like 1-3 side mods. Only the latter mods are actually decent, but most are subpar. The graphics is the best thing the game has to offer. The map feels empty somehow. The story is terrible with a bunch of zoomer lingo that the millennial wrote. The ending is so fricking shit, because it ends on an abrupt cliffhanger. The story is basically you taking the british movie star to a helicopter so she can escape. I haven't olayed dead island 1 in while but im pretty sure they just had regular zombies with the mc being immune. In this game the mc is immune and gets le heckin based marvel tier zombie powers. Throughout the game you are spewed lefty propaganda the whole game. If I recall correctly most of the main npcs are black (minority by the way). The dialog has a ton of one liners that are utterly atrocious. This game is subpar I would give it a 4/10. I would rather play the first game most of that game is killing humans rather than zombies. I also forgot to mention this game has no enemy variety it is worse than dd2. This is only exasperated by the bosses being the same mini bosses you already fought
funny, i liked the writing, a good mix of comedy and realism
but the story does end on a stupid cliffhanger, i guess so you can keep playing after ending, but they really should have wrapped the daughter plotline somehow

I can say I really enjoyed this game but for some reason I never finished it. Think I was like 70% complete and just got too busy. I need to do a new playthrough this year. Ya the graphics were some of the best I've seen in a modern game.
