Does it just copy the quirky humor of TP or the dark parts, as well? Fire Walk With Me is the best part of the whole thing after all.

Yes and it also turns into complete fricking dogshit during the final segment just like the latter half of Twin Peaks Season 2.

It doesn't really copy anything right. What makes Deadly Premonition so interesting is the way it shows how Twin Peaks was understood completely differently in Japan than in the rest of the world.

It shows in example that the Japanese really didn't like Sheriff Truman - probably because of that one time he was mean to Dale and called his investigations mumbo jumbo. And how confused they were by Andy. And how they respected Ben Horne because he was rich.

I want to see more games from him as long as he keeps being sincere and trying stuff like A Good Life instead of trying to mimic his success like DP2. He's got interesting and unique ideas even if mechanics end up half-baked or filled with grind.

Did you play The Good Life?

        [...]
SWERY was forced to change dialogues after Twitter trannies had a meltdown over the original dialogues. Clearly, he didn't mean to shit on them, but trannies are just so fricking vindictive and irrational that they won't forgive him for a clearly unintentional offense despite bending over backwards for them. It's especially shitty considering his game, The Missing, is one of the most troony pandering games ever made, especially by a Japanese person. The only silver lining is that he got so upset over the backlash that hopefully, he's done trying to pander to them.

        [...]
I loved it so much. I'm not just glad but also proud that I backed SWERY on creating this game via Kickstarter. I still remember his updates including his travel diary as he researched the Lake District for the game, it was really comfy reading about his irl experience. The game is a weird fun hybrid open world RPG adventure/life sim/murder-mystery in an absorbing cozy English countryside setting. Loved the fun puzzles, the wacky characters, the mix of activities and minigames, the unique gameplay system and SWERY's writing and swerves. I sank nearly a hundred hour doing side stuff alone. All the small details in it are so charming. As expected SWERY has a unique design to things.

The Good Life deserved more love.

Wait until it's 90% off on GOG, it's 90% off every sale, don't pay 24.99 when you could pay 2.49

Is The Good Life actually good and worth playing today? I loved Deadly Premonition but never got The Good Life when it came out and I was always under the impression it was terrible for some reason.

It is one of the best psychological-horror fiction ever. It has an engrossing story, catchy BGM, magnetic characters, sublime protagonist and unrelenting horror atmosphere. It catches the "small town" setting perfectly. Most people say the jank is bad and I wouldn't blame them for saying that but it feels like it fits within the atmosphere of the game. The technical issues it has doesn’t take away from that. It's like a rough, uncut diamond. In short, it's a clunky, insane, endearing, lovable, weird work of a goofy genius known as SWERY.

Curious about what you think about DP2. I didn't like it personally

There's a guide that has you do stuff without days skipping but it has some tight requirements.
      https://www.shshatteredmemories.com/greenvale/100-completion-guide-2010/
If you're ever gonna replay the game it's much better to play it like this in my opinion as it has you talk to any npc that has unique dialogue every time they gain new dialogue. The amount of dialogue they cycle through just from doing a single main story bit is ridiculous, and then if you do side quests that's even more new dialogue.

Made my 360 replay so much better.

The Director Cut on PS3 is less buggy, right?

I played it soulfully on the 360 and then again on the PS3 (Director's Cut). Never bothered trying it on PC as it looked like too much of a hassle. The combat never bothered me that much.

The PC version is a complete mess, frick that was a mistake from me.

        >The Director Cut on PS3 is less buggy, right?
No, the PS3 DC and PC versions are equally as buggy, the PS3 DC version has worse performance on top of that.
The Switch version has tinny or muffled audio, I can't remember which. It also doesn't have the extra cutscenes or content of DC but has the quality of life changes.

360/PS3 Red Seeds Profile/Switch is the ideal first playthrough, DC is only if you already played one of those versions.

What about the sequel? I must have watched the intro interview when it came out and then I forgot about it. Tried to watch a let's play recently (since it's unplayable on PC without consolehomosexualry) and it was okay until York went on a triggered speech that we should respect transgenders and use their preferred pronouns, because the little girl didn't like some troony.

Sad that Japan is infected with the ZOG too.

How do they go from accurate portrayal of troons (first game) to being completely compromised (second game)? Does Swerve read leftist Twitter?

I'm generous enough to do him the favour of believing that he simply finds the modern treatment of trannies to be surreal enough for his game

Nah, the way that York talks down to the girl in the 2nd game shows that Swery's been zombified, don't know why he went from the men dressing as women is a personal trait to all troons are perfect angels and you need to treat them as such.

In between DP1 and DP2 he made a different game called The Missing which was entirely about a troony's metaphysical pain and suffering of wanting to be understood and accepted so I think he was just part of the cult the whole time and it just didn't make it into the first game.

          >Curious about what you think about DP2. I didn't like it personally
DP2's atmosphere is a bit different but the story is just as great and it completes the protagonist story. The gameplay is also improved and has new fun mechanics to it and I appreciate SWERY for adding so much to the simple combat of DP1, I spent hours having fun looking for drops to upgrade my skills. Aside from that, to me, the story is what matters the most in a game, and this one just has so much to tell with all its eccentric characters, relationships and twists. DP2 being a thing after the masterpiece that is DP1 is nothing short of a miracle to me and I'm thankful that SWERY brought York and Zach back for a perfect closure. DP2 has what most polished ones out there don't have, a soul and a love from it's creator.

I like it, but good lord it is rough as frick. The side quests aren't really fun to do, but I remember the game felt more complete as a investigation into the townsfolk after finishing them. Wish they had made them easier to do though, since they sometimes break the flow of the game if you attempt them during a normal playthrough

I enjoyed DP2 a ton. Probably because I've visited Louisiana and just enjoyed that same vibe. The problem with DP2 is that all the side content honestly is a huge waste of time and sucks. Very fetch quest without any of the soul or fun. Very empty. Not all, but like 75% of it. But the main story and gameplay was extremely great. It's odd, I think of it as a total opposite of DP1 where I feel the side content and exploring and the town, etc is a masterpiece while the main story stuff and gameplay is good but fine.
