they were thinking "what if we gave normal types a frickload of coverage but balanced it by making their stab not SE on anything?"
but then they forgot that every normal type is a 400bst shitter that can't make use of that coverage
Normal was the strongest type in Gen 1. Tauros, Chansey, and Snorlax are considered the top 3 best Pokemon in standard play. Hyper Beam got nerfed through the ground because of Normal's sins.
It's still incredibly easy to have perfect neutral coverage with Normal. Of the 3 types that are resistant or immune to Normal, 2 of them are weak to Fighting, none can resist Ground without a secondary type, and Dark gives Normal coverage for everything that isn't Lucario, Cobalion, Terrakion, Kingambit, Tyranitar, Diancie, Carbink, Mawile, Zacian, Magearna, and Tinka75.
Normal was only strong in Gen 1 because 90% of the usable moves in the game were normal type and because the best fighting type move was Submission.
Introduce Close Combat in Gen 1 and Normal type supremacy ends.
>Normal was only strong in Gen 1 because 90% of the usable moves in the game were normal type
not true, normal is strong in gen 1 because body slam paralysis immunity, amazing move pools (by gen 1 standards) and the 3 best pokemon with moron strength stats were all normal types.
the only good normal moves were body slam, hyper beam and slash.
Nah.
Having STAB on one of the few types of moves that weren’t complete dog shit was one of the reasons why Normal was good.
The other was that their counters in Fighting type were absolute dogshit. From having its best move be terrible to Psychic dominating the scene, you couldn’t really use a Fighting type effectively, thus Normal types went pretty much unopposed.
It’s why Normal sucks now. Everyone and their mother has Close Combat and plenty of strong Fighting types exist now.
>normal is not good because 90% of moves are normal >it's good because of its amazing move pools
I mean few types even have moves as strong Body Slam. Some types like Bug, Ghost and Dragon don't even have moves.
No, it's one of mine, too. I love how it can have everything from Literally A Bull to bizarre gimmicks like Castform and Slaking, even the moves can be satisfyingly dependable or wacky.
Delcatty is one of my fave Normal types cause of Normalize but that maniac's made it difficult to post about it
is it really true that the original Generation 2 type matchup had normal being strong against dark and neutral with steel? because that would be fricking wild if that actually stuck
Steel and Rock is a much more annoying problem
>Be Normal type
>Lose to Fighting
>Lose to Rock
>Lose to Steel
>Win against nothing

They can if they have Levitate.
You're a special boy anon
many normal types can learn crunch or shadow ball/claw to deal with ghost types anyway

It really should be neutral against steel.

They're jealous. Normal is the type of limitless potential, the type closest to pokeGod

Why do you choose to be weak?
