You used to be able to do that. With Home, you can't anymore. Once you send a Pokemon to Home it takes a snapshot of "immutable values" like IVs, original nature, OT, caught location, etc. You now need to catch and edit a Pokemon before you send it to Home, which depending on the Pokemon (Ursaluna, Enamorus, 0IV legendaries from old gens) becomes slower and more difficult. I'm sure as time goes on PkHex will be updated to better support this, or at least have a large enough database of legal pokemon files to base off of, but as it stands you actually need to play it somewhat straight for now.

To be fair, it was never an issue before Worlds and dragging a PLA mon that has never touched Home into a SV save on pkhex doesn't flag the legality checker.
I'm glad it caught a bunch of morons off guard though. There's no excuse to cheat when GF makes it easier and easier every gen to get a competitive ready mon. Not wanting to spend $40 buying a used copy of a game shouldn't be an excuse when you're paying $1k+ in travel expenses to compete for prize money in the first place. Just selling the merch set they give you for competing would cover it, especially in Japan where Pokemon games are dirt cheap second hand.

What do people even need to cheat for? Just use bottlecaps, nature mints, and vitamins for easy teams. Getting pokemon like Urshifu and Landorus legit might be annoying, but not even that bad when any stat adjustment is just an item
Anything that just needs 31s in their IVs is easy. The hard ones have always been TR legendaries. If Game Freak added a Rusty Bottle Cap this would all be solved.

No one said it wasn't easy, they said it was overly time consuming. It could take hundreds of soft resets to get a good legendary and you can inject a 0IV legendary in a couple minutes. Until it gets to the point where I can go from nothing to "tournament legal and ready" Pokemon in under 10 minutes per Pokemon, then injecting will always be the better choice.

Realistically with the amount of hacked pokemon out there if you ever traded with someone you don't know then it's a safe assumption that you have, or once had, a hacked pokemon. I lack the tools to check if a pokemon is hacked so I have to take it on faith that they aren't. If my pokemon was sired by a hackmon there really isn't anything I can do about it.

Back in SwSh, I think, there was a controversy around a Porygon in a Beast Ball. This wasn't possible normally. The mon was otherwise legit but this was a clear indication that it had been hacked in.
And with the way breeding worked balls could be passed down so even if you had a completely legit mon that you bred yourself it could still be technically illegal if it was in an impossible ball through no fault of your own.
It was a nightmare for me at the time because I autistically felt the need to check if every mon I had was in a legal ball.
Mons legitimately bred from hacked mons are legal, so long as their inheritances are legal.

One mon issues are generally not a ban. They just remove the pokemon. It's several offenses that escalate it to a ban.

OP post is clearly just for laughs but in reality this is an issue. The average worlds competitor is a regular dude more or less which doesn't have the time to get shit legally and injects. Big time players, on the other hand, have dozens of people giving them 100% legal pokemon for free and will never get caught while spending less time jf not at all compared to the average Joe. This makes competitive much harder to get into and favours famous people or ones with networking a lot.

It's not as simple as catching certain Pokemon. Some Pokemon, like those you want to use on Trick Room, need to have as low of a speed IV as possible. Raising IVs is a simple task, but if you want to get, say, an Ursaluna or an Enamorus or a Cresselia with 0 speed IVs for use on Trick Room, that can take months if you're unlucky.
Effectively, people who play legit are locked out of using Trick Room as a strategy, and Trick Room is one of the best strategies in the game right now.

When I was younger and had first heard of VGC I thought it was a lot like Pokémon Stadium, where you simply go in with the knowledge and built your team on the spot, so there would be no chance of anyone cheating or having any sort of numerical advantage over their competitors, I wonder how much more expensive that would be to actually setup, but the Pokémon Company are a bunch of israelites so I don't think they'd ever entertain the idea.

You only get DQ'd if you don't know how to inject properly. The most common apps have a built-in feature that tells you if your injected Pokemon can be detected. It's incredibly easy to make an injected pokemon that is utterly indistinguishable from a "legit" one. Not my problem if morons slip up.

Again, the program literally warns you if you are creating an illegal pokemon. Other than that it will generate identical bits of data to a legit pokemon. In USUM you had to transfer a ferrothorn from XY and pokemon from older games to use them. the removal of the national dex lowers the amount of pokemon you're required to transfer. this is all a problem now because they are out of other excuses to cheat.
