I've been playing it atm, I've been really liking it. Anons aren't wrong they say it's about walking, but it's the most engaging walking in vidya. If you do play, don't bother with side quests in Ep1/Ep2 at first, just get to Ep3 ASAP as that's when it really clicks.
It's something that you shouldn't go out of your way to play. The backtracking is pretty awful and unfortunately a good chunk of the game. The world is also pretty small. It may look big, but it isn't.
It can surprisingly engross you. Who knew walking and then optimising it would be fun

In the first game it sent alot of time going "There's something special about lou" as a part of mads' story, only for it to go "actually YOU'RE mads' BB" and then proceeded to drop the lou plotline completely. Like, all the digging deadman does about lou stops right there after the reveal.
Glad the sequel seems to be picking up that plotline.

I recommend it. My only recommendation would be to expect little. Unlike earlier games in Kojima's portfolio there's just not a whole lot there. The lore for BT's and such is cool conceptually, and execution of a few things is quite interesting. But on the whole the characters are boring and the overall plot isn't gripping. The actual mechanics of being a porter bringing things from point A to point B is what it is really gonna keep you coming back. Setting up lines, ladders, roads, etc to move through the world faster eventually feels pretty fun.
I'm 2/3 way done the game and I have no fricking clue what is going on in the story

Wait til you finish the game and set about getting 5* at all stations and completing all the standard orders. That's when the game goes from kind of neat to brilliant, since the fun and unique part of the game is the core gameplay loop of plan - prepare - navigate - deliver. Don't get me wrong the story is good, just not great, it serves mostly to set the atmosphere for the world and it does a good job of it.
