Anon, everyone knows Third Strike is an unbalanced game. I still love it, though.
>t. Alex main
Elena's side boob looks especially sexy on this poster.
wait until you see monkoto ape out long annoying cheap combos, 3s is a stupid mess of a game.
It ain't perfect but you gotta admit, there ain't nothing like some good ol 3rd strike
That's gonna happen for any classic game they showcase, remember last year when they did UMVC3 and the top 6 was all just Vergil and Zero?
Pools was nice though, they had a few Alex's, a Hugo and even a Twelve
Is there a game in the world without a "meta"? I feel like whenever a game is played, especially if it doesn't require physical skill, a "meta", or a most efficient way of playing, develops. I don't think it's a bad thing necessarily.
just don't play against comp gays, i never cared for the meta or tier lists when playing fighting games with friends
If even crusty old tetris can have a metagame developed by holding the controller in a silly way to ensure reaching levels never before seen to the point of finding out there's a potential way to hit the digit integer and restart the level count from 255 to 0, it's borderline impossible to find a meta.
You might be able to find unexplored games but we both know how that tale goes and the ending isn't pretty.
What about Chess960 (also called Fischer Random Chess)?
I was thinking of chess while I was making the post. But even Fisher's 960 is only so you can avoid the opening prep part of the chess meta game, sort of forcing each player into an unknown middlegame position. An endgame (and even middlegame) "meta" still exists, if you want to use the term loosely. In most of the 960 games I watch, the players try to force themselves into a familiar midgame position anyway.
is there a game without truth? is there a world where all things are equally true?
There will always be a best/strongest/easiest way of playing anything. The brainrot is more that people feel you HAVE to play the meta strat which no you dont. Of course this leads to people being morons and as soon as they hear that they assume you are gonna play some meme build thats basically unplayable. But ya just play what you want though I guess be aware what the meta is and if its a pvp game think about what your way of playing needs to do to beat the meta. It might be harder but it will be doable.
We might have got a rebalance if people didn't hate HD remix but it will be the top 3 until the end of time instead.
it's a solved game from over two decades ago. if you weren't there in the arcades, you missed the window to be part of that era.

it's literally all chun-li and yun in finals.
It's really funny how this game almost got a 4th edition rebalance that would have changed this, but that was vetoed.
Welcome to comphomosexualry.
Coop cup is always more fun to watch because there are always those weirdo teammates that play Oro, Sean or Q
The people who jerk off 3s don't care about playing it. Just saying that they do.
>SF3 is good bro trust
>You can parry normals, killing footsies
>You can parry fireballs for free meter, killing zoning
>You can parry jump-ins, killing mix-ups
>You can parry dps, killing anti-airs
>You can parry supers, killing reads and reactions
forgot to mention that the parry window is 10 frames except on red parry.
>Top forward to win
>NOOO you don't understand it's umm...le hard because you have to learn the timings of the attacks of the...5 playable characters!
But do YOU parry all those?
10 frame window
It's a simple yes or no question anon
when i first started playing 3rd strike, parrying was the least hard part to learn.
Then I eagerly look forward to seeing you at evo
parrying isn't even hard outside of red parry. It doesn't make you good at the game either.
Like any other fighting game, good fundamentals combined with game knowledge make you good at the game.
Then why are you claiming parries alone shut down so many options when they clearly don't
that wasn't even me moron.
But yeah parry kind of kills neutral and zoning. sf3 isn't a footsies game.
Level with me Ganker, which characters in third strike are so bad, that even in normal play they aren't viable picks (ones that will struggle far more than others even if you are not in a high level of play)?
And don't say none of them because I know for a fricking fact Twelve has such shit damage that even at a casual level you are completely fricking yourself by picking him.
Q and twelve are nearly unplayable. Probably the worst characters in the game.
q is arguably good at lower levels of play because of his taunt, his downsides are less bad when no one can optimize damage as well
twelve is probably just the most universally ass at all levels
>q is arguably good at lower levels
I go on fightcade and the lowest ranked players are still doing nearly optimal damage stuff. most of the damage with higher tier characters is just from supers.
people that play on fightcade regularly are not low level players like some random Gankertard lol, they are almost certainly people that at least actually play other fighting games and transitioned fundamentals, trying to take the tier list as a ranking of characters at all levels is moronic, someone who has no clue what they are doing with makoto or q will easily find more success with q
Kuroda made Q work even against top tiers. Hope he can taunt in prison
>in prison
what
dude's worst matchup was 12
heh. stupid Black person
I dont know but sugiyama is sick
He’s out of prison. Never coming back to competing doe, it’s the way of the bug.
But is that really a case for Q being underrated, or Kuroda just being THAT good?
It's weird, I know Q has some decent tools (very VERY powerful command grab kara potential if you can pull it off, as one example), but I do wonder if Kuroda genuinely felt he was not nearly as bad as most think.
Considering how good Kuroda was, I do feel his view is a fair bit weighier than most, but still. Maybe there's something there to explore. TM as well I guess.
I know he was really good at parrying (including multi hit normals and supers) which is essential if you want to deal damage with Q as you can punish your opponents with the command grab you mentioned, then juggle as you prefer.
Are you frickers genuinely ranking Q below Sean?
The hell. Most places I've seen rank Q as at least a decent low tier character. Some say he's the best OF the low tiers. Not a high bar, but basically everyone seems to say Sean is the worst right behind 12.
What a world we live in.
homosexual
ok?
Q and 12.
Then Sean, Ibuki, Hugo, Alex and Remy for characters that can work but are a struggle.
Everyone else is good.
Is Necro good
Select your fighter let's get it on
Anyone who knows anything about 3s knew what finals were gonna look like, the shit people complain about in modern fighters is a joke compared to shit like 3s. It's a fun game to frick around in but an absolutely horrendous game to take "seriously" in any respect because it just descends into endless Yun and Chun
3s is only entertaining to watch when it's a team tournament.
