>every other UMPC manufacturer fails to understand why the Steam Kek outdoes them despite better screens, better graffix and better APUs

PLAY EVERYTHING YOU WANT
>holy grail of emulation up to 7th gen (rip xenia)
>run almost everything you want thanks to Proton
>makes xcuck and psnogames consoles irrelevant (unless you're emulating on the prior)
>shits on an unmodded switch
it plays switch games btw
>new big picture mode is vastly superior to the old one
>run your VNs, WEGs and H-games without restriction or age ratings
>you can pirate as you please, just "add as non steam game"
>perfectly complements your $3000 pc
>superior to a laptop for gaming (you're not using an m&kb on a plane/coach journey)
>can stream your games from PC in case the APU can't handle it

GABE WINS HERE

>has every other company scrabbling to make their own competitor (to varying results)
>increase steam sales because why bother with a Switch at this point
>all for the low price of $500 ($400 + $100 for a decent 1 terabyte SSD)

Why haven't you got one? If you do, what are you Deckin?

Except for unsupported games and toaster-tier performance.

Nah I'm not op (check ip count) and every "unsupported" game I've tried just werks. The performance is an issue though you're right. OP forgot to mention that the competitors are at least able to hit 60fps in way more games. Deck struggles to hit 40fps even in 8th gen games like Cyberpunk and its getting harder and harder to bring the tdp down below 12 without the fps dropping hard during more intensive situations. I'll chill with it for now but if they don't make a Z3 Extreme Deck 2 in 2025 I might just change teams. Especially with a potential DLSS 3.5 Switch 2 or a Rog Ally/Legion Go 2 with OLED.

Why do you people lie and think you can get away with it. Steam Deck is nothing more than junkware you brought. A raspberry pi can do a whole ton more than Steam Deck.

Starfield runs like shit even with a 4090. You can still play it at toaster settings, but I don't know why you'd want to play it in the first place. It runs mmos fine. I know you can play XIV and WoW classic on it. Don't know nor care about gacha garbage.

          >Starfeild - no
It's playable enough considering the Steam Deck hardware and the Bethesda programming.
          >Nexon DRM - no
I have no idea of anything published by Nexon, so I'll give you that.
          >MMO - no
Depends on the MMO. WoW and the FF mmo runs on it.
          >Genshin Impact (legitimately) - no
Remove the "legitimaly" and it works. They won't ban your account, so no excuse here.
          >A raspberry pi can do a whole ton more than Steam Deck.

Neither of these are for justifiable reasons
Next model needs to be at least as small as the Switch and minimum of 40 hours of battery while playing a taxing game

It actually doesn't according to that picture lol. But even then those fisher price tablets have ARM processors and still barely shart out 5 hours even with oled and a die shrink, and that's with a game with hilariously low settings and a 30 fps cap. Steam Deck plays games on medium/high and manages at least 2. I get 3-4 on some 60fps games like Yakuza 0 and Arkham City.

It can die faster because you can choose to push it harder. The point is that you can maintain a reasonable power usage and get 3+ hours in most games while the switch gets less battery life and below minimum graphics settings just to try to run the same multiplats. The deck is still great at low TDP even against chinkhelds with newer AMD APUs.

It shits all over a modded switch too. A modded switch is literally just a shittier deck, the only "benefit" a regular switch has is online and that's taken away if you mod it.

How’s is 40 hours on the deck unreasonable?

      Anonymous

Because even the competition with big 68W/h batteries can't even come close to that. What you're asking, no one can do.

      Anonymous

You would need 200w/h just to power a Steam Deck for 40 hours and that's before putting literally any load whatsoever on it. I'm talking just idling it with the screen on. That would require a battery with 5 times more capacity than what it has while taking up the same space.
To run a game with reasonable power usage would take around 13W, would require 520w/h, which is 13x the battery capacity it currently has.
To run a very intensive game for 40 hours would require ~1000w/h which is 25x its current battery capacity.

Do you now understand why it isn't possible with current battery technology?

      Anonymous

As the other anons said, that's not happening unless you want a battery bigger than the Deck itself

Because even the competition with big 68W/h batteries can't even come close to that. What you're asking, no one can do.
