Everybody owns the valve classics. It's their fricking platform and they've gone on sale a million times. L4D has way less replayability though, I have no idea why anyone would play it in this day and age, besides to remember why you quit.
L4D2 has had more players than DRG almost all the time, I guess it's thanks to modding scene or something, the game doesn't seem to have reasons to keep playing otherwise.

Once you optimize your loadouts for haz 5 and unlock all the weapon overclocks its boring. Would maybe consider trying to collect all the cosmetics but not much point since the anniversary and streamer hats being unobtainable would mean the collection would never progress past 99.9%. Wouldn't want to try to max promotions either after taking 350 hours just to get them all gold

Each year the previous years holiday event cosmetics become available with exception of the anniversary holiday event
If you didn't buy the game in early access play the birthday event each year and are one of the few streamers that got a streamer cosmetic dlc personally gifted you from the devs you can't get every item. There probably isn't a single player outside the developer team that has a complete collection without cheats

i FRICKING hate robots. they arent fun to fight. that whacky korlok(?) weed thing isnt fun to fight either and people in pubs are too moronic to deal with it, so i stopped playing months ago.
I like fighting robots but I only play builds that are really balanced and can take out most mobs. Using the cryo-cannon against them is unfeasible. Using the Bullet Hell overclock on them is just a waste of bullets unless they are the small shredders. I do wish they didn't nerf the Nemesis though. It was always a major challange/threat whenever they spawned but now they are a joke.
Also Korloks are fun to fight just git gud lmao
theyre alright when its not haz5 with 3 morons constantly going down to it while im being chased by bugs while the korloks shoot their balls. it's just a slow, painful grind at that point.

Like, no chances or margin of error, getting close to that shit even full health will kill you, which is an issue when the terrain is totally randomly generated and not always there's space to run

There's absolutely zero need for the thing to 100% kill you when it could just take 25%-50% of your health, as by grabbing you it makes you unable to shoot, making it easier for you to get swarmed

I wouldn't mind it as much if the korlok seeds were a unique upgrading material

The korlok is a joke until you get it in a vertical shaft, by a cliff, close caves or just about anywhere that isn't a regular open terrain
Also FRICK getting it in escort duty, especially if it spawns in one of the gas refill stops, you just get doretta stuck there unable to move as it gets gunned down by the fricking thing, I'd say its equivalent to a bulk detonator spawning in doretta's path and blowing everything up as you helplessly watch

I wish they'd learned with that twin dreadnought fight. Every single other boss is just a huge bullet sponge with the exception of the nemesis fight which doesn't have any rewards for dumping loads of ammo into it. Also, more bugs like picrel? I really like when he's on one of my missions.
Korlok is fine. Robots are bullshit that go against the entire concept of the game and even after the nerf they're fall too fast, tough, strong, and boring as frick to fight, and their home missiles are absolute bullshit. The seasons really have revealed what brainlets the devs are and that the game managed to be fun in spite of them. DRG was accidentally good and they make it worse and worse with each update.
You can skip it, and a competent team can effortlessly take it out in under a minute.
There is no "Korlok mission" like we have with Sabotage that floods the map with bullshit armoured lange range fast projectile shooting enemies in a game that was built around weak melee horde enemies with very rare slow moving medium range projectile enemies.
The Rivals were an awful addition and showed right out of the gate that this whole battlepass thing was the end of the good phase of DRG. It's impressive that Redditpox manages to almost be worse. I can't wait to see what dogshit they dump out for Season 5.

I contest that. It's worse than a juggernaut if your team has no synergy (or if even half are morons). There's more opportunities to pick up fallen weak links with a full fledged juggernaut than there is with a field of respawning spitters.

Best way to play DRG is to discover fun stuff yourself. Maybe play with a senpai kind of old dorf.
But I got some generic newbie tips:
-Enable the FULL HUD + subtitles from Options! You get much more info that way.
-You can only equip ONE (1) Upgrade/Skill per a horizontal tier on weapons and gear. NOT all 3!
-M2 + M1 Power Attack will be your friend.
-Perk skills will change your life. Buy and equip them.
-Learn to use the 3D Map and Laser Pings to navigate even in complete darkness / in a rock.
-V to SALUTE, X to yell for attention / help.
-Do those rookie Assignments, ASAP! Accept new one right away, even if you don't wanna do its quests.
-Class level 25 = Promotion time = tons of new goodies for first timers!
-80 Nitra = 1 re-supply pod. One "shelf" = 50% HP and ammo for all guns.
-You can see your team mate's ammo status as 4 yellow blocks on HUD if you flick the Laser pointer.

Sticky bombs are honestly all around better.
Lure only works on weaker enemies anyway, and there's many mission types where you're swarmed all the time and the bugs home-in towards things you must defend, ignoring the lure.
Only the new friendly drones seem more OP than a well placed mine field.

That's why you put a plat on a wall and raise the turrets a little bit so they don't get blocked. Then you can remove the platform, so don't b***h about it covering LoS either. Think, anon.
If you have to stay in an area for an extended period of time, flatten the ground. As engi you particularly should fix the exploder holes and correct driller's mistakes.
If you have to dig through a solid wall without a driller, walk up to it and shoot a platform+dig, plats are one hit while walls typically take 2-3. Obviously don't do that in sand zone or if you still need platforms to make bridges or cover.
Create cover. It's much easier to deal with korloks if you have an area near the heart where you can hide to recover your shield.
Build a big platform above the caretaker, so that the shields stop being a problem. Let your driller drop c4 on his vents, it speeds the fight up.
You can build plats on eye level over the buttons on omen fights, removes most of the danger from the bottom part of it.
Breach cutter penetrates walls and bugs, just ping the boss and shoot at it from cover.
Use two sentries and when on the move recall one before placing another.
Multiple engies work very well together, unlike drillers(different elements are a detriment more often than not + low ranged damage) or scouts. You can build entire mansions out of cheese and maintain your buddy's turrets.

I wouldn’t say the game is dead, however the mission variety is incredibly limited and the new events they add don’t do much or are just extras in normal missions. the cosmetics are mostly meh and not a big fan of the way you unlock the seasonal ones.
I don't think there's much real justification for having an unlock tree in this game. Good gameplay can maintain a playerbase on its own two feet without baiting the player along with carrots like a doonkey.

But you do have to wait in PE. If anything it's strange that Refinery lets you leave the moment your objective is done but I guess it's because you already have to spend a lot of time waiting for it to fill.
All I really ask for is some actual endgame content.

Because with these kinds of games, you either need
A) Distinct levels that provide a unique challenge from each other for you and your buddies to tackle
B) Gunplay so fun and enemies so satisfying to shoot that you can do it for hours even in a blank box
and DRG doesn't really have either. It feels like it's always close, but needed to discover some kinda of x-factor to really put either facet over the top, and waiting for that is why so many people are disappointed with the end of development (amongst other things). Instead, the only thing to keep it fun and fresh each time is your classes, and while that kinda works, it's not enough to entirely do so.

Lack of content and end game. I like it but it never felt fleshed out. After 5 years or whatever, they should have just put out paid expansions and I would have bought them. I like fighting robots but I only play builds that are really balanced and can take out most mobs. Using the cryo-cannon against them is unfeasible. Using the Bullet Hell overclock on them is just a waste of bullets unless they are the small shredders. I do wish they didn't nerf the Nemesis though. It was always a major challange/threat whenever they spawned but now they are a joke.

There's absolutely zero need for the thing to 100% kill you when it could just take 25%-50% of your health, as by grabbing you it makes you unable to shoot, making it easier for you to get swarmed
Also the shield can frick you up pretty badly
The korlok shit is dogshit design as in it gives absolutely zero unique rewards (just credits which you can get from literally just playing the game) and it can ruin your mission by having invulnerability periods in which it heals all damage with a healing pod that spawned in god fricking knows where, due again, the terrain being 100% random
I wouldn't mind it as much if the korlok seeds were a unique upgrading material

On Haz5 4 player lobby Korlok eats maybe 1-2 suppply pods worth of ammo max if you're not moronic, with a semi competent scout in a team you have a minimum of 2 supply pods extra at the end of the mission. There is no risk.

Korlok is fine. Robots are bullshit that go against the entire concept of the game and even after the nerf they're fall too fast, tough, strong, and boring as frick to fight, and their home missiles are absolute bullshit. The seasons really have revealed what brainlets the devs are and that the game managed to be fun in spite of them. DRG was accidentally good and they make it worse and worse with each update.

korlok is the worst enemy in the game

There is no "Korlok mission" like we have with Sabotage that floods the map with bullshit armoured lange range fast projectile shooting enemies in a game that was built around weak melee horde enemies with very rare slow moving medium range projectile enemies.
The Rivals were an awful addition and showed right out of the gate that this whole battlepass thing was the end of the good phase of DRG. It's impressive that Redditpox manages to almost be worse. I can't wait to see what dogshit they dump out for Season 5.

I have 2000 hours in this game. I can count on one hand how many times Korloks spawned in truly unskippable spots. It really isn't a problem and it's the 2nd easiest random boss event behind Nemesis.

Best way to play DRG is to discover fun stuff yourself. Maybe play with a senpai kind of old dorf.
But I got some generic newbie tips:
-Enable the FULL HUD + subtitles from Options! You get much more info that way.
-You can only equip ONE (1) Upgrade/Skill per a horizontal tier on weapons and gear. NOT all 3!
-M2 + M1 Power Attack will be your friend.
-Perk skills will change your life. Buy and equip them.
-Learn to use the 3D Map and Laser Pings to navigate even in complete darkness / in a rock.
-V to SALUTE, X to yell for attention / help.
-Do those rookie Assignments, ASAP! Accept new one right away, even if you don't wanna do its quests.
-Class level 25 = Promotion time = tons of new goodies for first timers!
-80 Nitra = 1 re-supply pod. One "shelf" = 50% HP and ammo for all guns.
-You can see your team mate's ammo status as 4 yellow blocks on HUD if you flick the Laser pointer.

-Light up big rooms with your Flare-gun! Always.
-Be the spider-man! Use your grappling hook to not get swarmed.
-Ping high-above minerals and ask Engineer to build you a Platform to stand on, so ya can mine it.

Thanks. It's always cool to learn new ways to use the platform gun. I started blocking holes that enemies crawl through but never thought about a ceiling like in the pic. I've been using the sticky grenades since I got them but I do miss the lure's utility
Sticky bombs are honestly all around better.
Lure only works on weaker enemies anyway, and there's many mission types where you're swarmed all the time and the bugs home-in towards things you must defend, ignoring the lure.
Only the new friendly drones seem more OP than a well placed mine field.

Not an argument, imbecille.
Sentry covers your sorry ass and drops approaching exploders before they descent on you.
And they can do that just fine inside the circle you subhuman H3 Black person.
Inside the circle (You) easily block the turret's LOS with your dorf arse, and cannot defend your own blind corners.
That's why you put a plat on a wall and raise the turrets a little bit so they don't get blocked. Then you can remove the platform, so don't b***h about it covering LoS either. Think, anon.
If you have to stay in an area for an extended period of time, flatten the ground. As engi you particularly should fix the exploder holes and correct driller's mistakes.
If you have to dig through a solid wall without a driller, walk up to it and shoot a platform+dig, plats are one hit while walls typically take 2-3. Obviously don't do that in sand zone or if you still need platforms to make bridges or cover.
Create cover. It's much easier to deal with korloks if you have an area near the heart where you can hide to recover your shield.
Build a big platform above the caretaker, so that the shields stop being a problem. Let your driller drop c4 on his vents, it speeds the fight up.
You can build plats on eye level over the buttons on omen fights, removes most of the danger from the bottom part of it.
Breach cutter penetrates walls and bugs, just ping the boss and shoot at it from cover.
Use two sentries and when on the move recall one before placing another.
Multiple engies work very well together, unlike drillers(different elements are a detriment more often than not + low ranged damage) or scouts. You can build entire mansions out of cheese and maintain your buddy's turrets.

I wouldn’t say the game is dead, however the mission variety is incredibly limited and the new events they add don’t do much or are just extras in normal missions. the cosmetics are mostly meh and not a big fan of the way you unlock the seasonal ones.
I don't think there's much real justification for having an unlock tree in this game. Good gameplay can maintain a playerbase on its own two feet without baiting the player along with carrots like a doonkey.

It feels like it's always close, but needed to discover some kinda of x-factor to really put either facet over the top, and waiting for that is why so many people are disappointed with the end of development (amongst other things). Instead, the only thing to keep it fun and fresh each time is your classes, and while that kinda works, it's not enough to entirely do so.

Lack of content and end game. I like it but it never felt fleshed out. After 5 years or whatever, they should have just put out paid expansions and I would have bought them.
