on paper the AI stabilizer overclock for the deepcore sounds amazing but honestly after using it a lot and comparing it to some of the builds with the overclocked firing mechanism, the dps on the overclocked firing mechanism feels a lot better. anybody have more experience with these?
OFM is the only GK2 build I've ever found enjoyable to use
if you take the recoil/base spread mods its really nice too, but honestly even without them for mid range its still fairly accurate
If I want to snipe, I take MK1 like the elders intended.
AIS turns it into a pretty good jack of all trades rifle
OFM turns you into Rambo
Doesn't matter, GK2 is beyond terrible and should never ever be used with any build, sole exception being for newbie scouts who haven't been able to unlock anything yet. Either use the M1000 for precision/high value targets, or the Drak for raw damage/swarm clear. GK2 is the worst of all worlds.
Skill issue. I haven't used the M1000 or DRAK since season 3 started. Electric reload GK2 has better crowd control than both of them, and combos perfectly with bodkin bolts for taking down beefy targets.
>Electric reload GK2 with bodkin bolts
I seriously hope that's your solo build
have you seen the damage that thing can put out? all you have to do is shoot a few shots to electrify a spitball infecter and then the bodkin bolts one shot it
>NOOOOOOOOOO YOU HAVE TO HECKIN METAFAG STOP HAVING FUN AIIIIIIIEEEEE YOU'RE RUINING MY DEEP DIVE AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I just got that oc recently. Does the electric damage on reload stack or something?
It refresh the duration, it does not stack multiple DoT. However you get bonus damage for each bullets now si you can meet various breakpoints with the DoT by shooting just a bit more.
>Electric Reload
based. I've been running it with Gas Recycling and the conductive bullets mod. What special bolt do you tend to take? I feel like pheremone would be better for solo at least.
>GK2 is beyond terrible
retard alert
>GK2 is beyond terrible
????
Aimlet, AI stability is legitimately better than hipster if you can consistently land headshots.
>hurr but i can hit the giant glowing weakpoint of a praetorian with my m1k and do lots of damage
And less than a full mag of AI with any kind of damage boost (ifg, cryo, electric, etc) will kill it even faster.
One singular shot to the mouth of a grunt is enough to kill on H5, if you can't consistently do that then you shouldn't be playing scout; try driller.
as much as I like playing AI stab, m1k wins because of blowthrough
but anyway this game isn't hard enough to justify metagayry, just play what feels good
>GK2
holy shit what are you doing?
It's literally the worst gun in the game and there's no reason to ever pick it. Every other primary and secondary has some sort of niche, at least in theory. GK2 is just "what if drak had lessa everything".
i have no idea what game you're playing
gk2 was shit before true but it's pretty solid now
>It's literally the worst gun in the game
Subata exists
Stubby exists
GK2 is fine after the buffs, its niche is being a fully automatic hitscan primary
>Subata exists
dont hat the full auto subata.
>magdump an fire praet
>barely kills on haz 2, and that's only because of the fire dot
No, I think I fucking will.
>Stubby exists
in my experience it's pretty good
it fucking sucks, worse than subata. at least you can combo subata with flmathrower for crazy damage, but subby is actual garbage
>Stubby exists
Stubby does great with the laser upgrade that does more damage to shocked shit
That counts Scunt's boomerang/IFG grenades for the damage bonus too
Stubby is great with the shard diffractor as your crowd control weapon, especially with either of the turret shock overclocks.
Subata is still the only real long range option driller has since the cooker overheats after one web spitter or so. You probably shouldn't be trying to snipe things as the driller but sometimes your scout/gunner just refuses to shoot the fucking menace.
>subata
Explosive reload is great.
>stubby
I fucking love it. Especially with the overclock that boosts the electrical damage in exchange for accuracy.
You're not going to snipe anything across the map, but dump into a swarm, with the gun built around electical proc and damage and you and your turrets can just mop the floor with entire waves. Throw in the breach cutter and you're a one man army.
AI stabilzier engine kicks mactera ass, so I only use it during mactera plague. For most other situations, electric reload works better.
>deepcore
found your problem
M1000
Hipster
congrats, you'll be top of kills most of the time unless your engineer actually knows what he's doing
>M1000
>Hipster
I am just too much in love with hoverclock. Especially with dread's and boss bugs in those big caverns. You can chain weakpoint pot shots with grappels and barely touch the ground.
With low gravity modifiers you literally become sniper spiderman.
I prefer using shotgun with that high kickback feature for this and hipster for killing.
But what if you used both hoverclock and special powder?
Waste of OC
AISE makes up for it by melting mactera, wardens, spitballers, menaces, etc and perfect accuracy makes it great at sniping shit from across the cave. If youre going all in on wave clear as scout you may as well just play as a 2nd gunner.
i havnt played recently, but the ai stabilizer was really good. going for weakpoints and slowing down firing really help with efficiency. you arent going to mass murder bugs as scout anyways, its not your job
dps is meaningless in this game, once you'll graduate to haz5 you'll realize it quickly
AI stab is good because it removes bullet spread and recoil so you'll never miss a shot again
for some reason I heard that supercooling chamber got a slight fix recently. what as the originally charge shot bonus compared to what it is now?
the big problem was mostly that it used to not have a weakpoint bonus so it was barely better with tons of downsides
Old
+125% Focused Shot Damage Bonus
x0.665 Max Ammo
x0.6 Focus Speed
x0 Focus Mode Movement Speed
Current
+150% Focused Shot Damage Bonus
x3 Weakpoint Damage Bonus
x0.685 Max Ammo
x0.73 Clip Size
x0.6 Focus Speed
x0 Focus Mode Movement Speed
>X3 weakpoint bonus
damn thats actually pretty significant. Might have to give it another chance soon
you misunderstood, it triples the weakpoint bonus you see on the stat screen, which is +20% if you selected the weakpoints mod, hence it's +60% on focus
it's pointless
welp thats actually shit what the fuck were they thinking
This kills the dread.
>gets aggro
>runs toward you
pshhhhh... rock and stone..... brother.....
This does in fact kill the dread.

I like DRG but like any good PvE co-op game, it takes a certain amount of autism to be able to enjoy doing the same shit for more than 100+ hours.
In a PvP game, shitting on others and outplaying them is what inherently drives you to improve; it's what keeps the game fresh and fun. It's why people play CS or DOTA or CoD for thousands of hours. CO-OP games like DRG do not have this longevity to them. By the time you've done all mission types and maxed all your dwarves to Lvl 20, you pretty much experienced all the game has to offer. Aside from asinine difficulty spikes in hazard missions, the bugs act the same and die the same regardless.
Yep, not enough enemy variety, and even with overclocks the shooting doesnt feel as good as most other shooters - especially with bullet sponge enemies.
for me it's more about the 'puzzle' of navigating the random rooms and setting up ideal spots to funnel and fight the bugs. a co-op game like KF2 is more mechanically intense but is way more simple, to the point where killing floor is pretty much only about kiting the horde while DRG is about shaping the cave SO you can kite/ hold out in one spot.
I find PvP games dull before long, but I still realize other people like them, you autistic freak.
>just passed 1000 hours
>have not even purchased the other 2 gunner or driller primaries, or the other 2 engi secondaries
In most games I one-trick characters and never switch off them but in drg it makes more sense with guns. I don't like the gunner as a whole, I justify like the minigun. I don't like the driller, I just like the flame thrower. I encourage others to try thinking about it this way if you also have autism and think you don't like a class. Assume you just didn't like the gun, not the class. Might as well be an entirely different character when you play them with different guns.
Just started playing. What the best way to get into things and learn? Also, so far, were one of the most nice people I had pleasure to play with in co-op/multiplayer games
Just play. Don't listen to meta discussions
So I just leave this thread? Ok.
Honestly? Yes.
The only thing you need to know is to rush a promotion (lvl25 on a single class) to unlock Deep Dives and machine events.
If you want information, read the wiki or look at serious analysis videos.
Play whatever build you want.
>What the best way to get into things and learn?
Do the main assignments.
also don't forget to buy all armor upgrades, they permanently increase max health
My main advice would be to watch and learn what the other classes are doing, and how you can help them. It not only makes you a much better player overall, but when you start trying out those classes you’ll have a better idea of what to do.
Also, the true way to get good is tied to movement and manipulating swarms, not metagayry. Some shitter with a spreadsheet is going to get mogged by anyone who can grasp where to be so the swarm doesn’t rip his nipples off.
Retard here
How am I supposed to use Sludge Pump for AOE? Do I exclusively use charged shots and aim at the leading bug in a swarm or the middle or what?
I'm not an expert when it comes to using the Sludge Pump, but I aim the charge shot where I expect a group of glyphids to pass through. It has low ammo, so you should squeeze out every point of damage that you can.
Get as much duration on the puddles as you can and splatter it at the front of an incoming swarm, use your secondary or your teammates to finish them off while they melt
A bit of both, it really depends on your overclock and if you play with others
-puddles and direct hit are 2 different effects that stack
-you can set puddles on fire
-both effects can proc the microwave gun's T5A
-both effects proc Bullet of mercy
Unless you're using VIM or Sludge Blast, you pretty much want to shoot a charged shot in front of waves then shoot a couple normal shots on bigger enemies and to cover gaps if you had bad RNG with puddle, then switch to your secondary.
VIM and Sludgeblast are not really good for AOE, you should shoot indivigual bugs directly instead. VIM is a jack of all trades, but both are excelletn agaisnt dreads.
So generally speaking, the puddles are better than the direct corrosion especially for grunts?
Pretty much, other players will be shooting bugs too anyway so if you can CC a large area that's already 90% of the job done.
The puddle DoT or a single shot is enough to kill up to slashers if you give it time so a bunch of puddles specced for slowdown is excellent support for the team. Also the sludge has built in armor break so a shot or two on bigger bugs will strip them for easy kills.
Have a look at this, it'll give you pretty good information on the sludge
minigun needs a serious buff to be on par with the auto cannon. no idea about hurricane, because Im not a chud and like shooting dildos.
the minigun needs the following buffs:
>+4dmg
>+600 base ammo
>blow through baseline
this way it brings enough pain to be on par with the utility of ntp auto cannon. for now only some weird burning hell build is even remotely viable for haz5 without gimping yourself like crazy
lmao
>only x build is viable for haz5
only if your a gay shitter sure
I bet you were defending the deepcore pre patch too
Theres more than one weapon that starts woth "deepcore" the fact you think thats the short form for whatever weapon you're describing already tells me youre new and dumb
dumbest post of the week. well done
Thanks for conforming you're dumb and new
garden gnome
Everything about this post is bait but just want to point out hitscan > projectile weapons objectively. The minigun is hitscan, the other 2 are projectile, that alone bumps it up at least 2 points. Hitscan weapons need some kind of "hitscan tax" to bring them down a little otherwise they will just be straight better than projectile weapons thats why they struggle so hard balancing between the drak and gk2
not bait at all. the minigun is underperforming in comparison to npt if you like it or not and is generally underwhelming. and not just in damage but in utility too.
Thunderhead is hitscan, just very innacurate
>t. hasn't played since S3
Times have changed old man, and by the way the sludge pump is good now.
>viable for haz5
You don't need any overclocks at all for haz5. We just did EDD with the lads today and and all us are newfags with no/just 1 overclock per gun.
Burning Hell LS is meta on the gunner alongside Volatile Bulldog, especially on haz6 or 7. LSLS is also good if you know how to hop well.
>especially on haz6 or 7
>some homosexual mods
opinion disregarded
Shitter
Glad you concede you don't know shit.
>DRG GIRLS
Name 1
scout
Berserker not buffing drill damage is so very lame.
That does suck considering drills trigger vampire
Yeah one of the dev hates melee, we'll never have fun melee stuff.
Thank god
big breasts
>first primaries and secondaries usually complement each other
>besides Gunner's - minigun is accurate and single-target just like the Bulldog
How come?
the way you replenish ammo in DRG means that your guns aren't competing with each other. Your guns are 2 independent variables that gain their ammo seperately. It's perfectly fine to have a primary and secondary that do the same thing because you're trying to use their ammo at roughly the same pace, you cant sacrifice more of one to get more of the other, so having them "balance" each other is less impactful in practice than it is in theory in my opinion. You're trying to use them at the same pace, not just picking the best weapon for the situation every time or you'll run out of that weapon too fast
Makes sense, but it fucking sucks with Bulldog because I'm bad at aiming and firerate is too slow to just quickly magdump in general bug direction.
I can just go for explosive revolver, but I like running Autocannon a bit too much despite that I don't want to run stuff lie Bug Bertha because ammo issues are crippling then. It ends up with built that is good at shortish ranges, but cannot deal with specials at range.
If he is like 5'9" then it doesn't make a difference.
Well if you have other weapons unlocked then just mix and match as needed.
BRT 21231 compact mags can reliably hit bugs at a pretty decent range and is super versatile with good damage.
Explosive neurotoxin magic bullet Bulldogs is a good enough AOE secondary for a single target primary.
Hellfire coilgun gives you great AOE and CC at decent range.
>Hellfire coilgun gives you great AOE and CC at decent range.
It hurts that apparently it has no decent alternative. It sounds like a nice special remover candidate.
Because you're supposed to use it with neurotoxin, to either pick off the targets 800m away when your minigun hasn't spun up yet or to slow down tanky enemies to really tear into them.
My minigun and ricochet/toxin/explosion revolver compliment each other just fine
Please tell me the devs said something about perks because they feel like the most dead part of the game right now. Christ couldn't they even give us the option to unlock more perk slots at least?
I think they said perk rework eventually
On the anniversary stream they were asked about it and said it's something they want to do Eventually™. Don't expect it next season or anything though, maybe by the end of the year if we're lucky. At least it's on the radar meaning they do agree it's not in a good place as it stands.
you call that a scout?
Roboscunt 4 lyfe
I don't get the bulldog, the burst pistol seems better in like every way unless you're counting the volatile rounds OC that does extra damage to fire affected enemies
homebrew on bulldog is excellent
It's fun. The burst gun might be better but it's still viable and fun, and I find 6 shooter one of the most rewarding to mechanic skill playstyles in the game. It kills grunts, slashers, and acid spitters in 1 headshot and webspitters in 1 bodyshot, so if you're cracked mechanically and like guns where you click on enemies heads it's fun as fuck to use. Feels like you have infinite ammo on it when you land your shots, so its my "in between swarms" gun when you're just running through corridors picking off those wandering groups of 5-10, not slowing down to shoot your primary
>assload of damage
>can one shot a lot of stuff
>the final upgrade for the bulldog gives that huge slowdown effect to an enemy
what do you like better about the burst pistol?
run this and you'll never want to use anything else
do bullets explode on surface contact aswell as bug impact?
Yeah
Blowthrough works with magic bullet too, you can shoot a bug through the face and ricochet into something else when it hits the wall behind them
What's the point, his secondaries are for single target damage except burst fire gun.
I assume you're not using minigun. My go-to with this is exhaust vectoring or (more often) leadstorm. It's great for dealing with swarmers, instantly killing webspitters, the neurotoxin will kill acidspitters, it's an easy stun/slow on praets, etc. If I'm using something more aoe focused like neurotoxin/carpet bomber or aoe rockets then yeah, I typically run six-shooter bulldog or lead spray brt.
I used minigun with leadstorm and burst-fire gun to kill little shitters, but now I switched back to jet-fuel hurricane and revolver.
I recommend trying it out, the aoe is surprisingly big, you'll take out entire hordes of them in one shot.
I ran this for years because there was no other option for aoe secondary no, minelets are trash, I gladly switched to hellfire when it was added
variety is good
Bulldog is great if you're able to hit weakspots with a pinpoint accurate hitscan. The burst pistol is nice if you just want to blind fire into a crowd but all your primaries do it better.
The vanilla minigun isn't fast or accurate at all. You need time to spin up and stabilize and you can't move very well, while the revolver lets you pop things at range and while running at full speed. Both of them generally get even more accurate with mods, but it's still a really useful secondary.
guys I have a confession
I use a full helmet armor setup with all of my dwarves so the whole head is covered and I can self insert
>self-inserting as a midget
Don't do this
hating on the gk2 is one of the easiest ways to tell if somebody is a shitter or not
what we really need is a customizable launch bay for grey beards with too many credits. fuck new biome, fuck perk overhaul, fuck new enemies, fuck everything.
I just wish we got the shooting range but they removed that old door from the space rig entirely
-customizable pod
-shooting range
-piperails to grind on at base
That'd be pretty great. Just have it be the host's launch bay. They might be able to reuse some of the framework for placing objects from the engi turrets/pipelines while other stuff like wall paints or Lloyd customization would be static. Never ever though. Maybe someone will make a mod.
>he doesn't neatly organize his pipes
explain yourself
Only time I've ever done this was in a garbage refinery gen where everything was a mile above the refinery. Instead of finding 3 ways up the huge wall I just made one path and stacked the pipes and split them once I was over it.
I do not play on site refining missions.
I prefer the shortest distance between two points.
How do you unlock the old anniversary party hats? Or is there no way?
Don't you just get them if you play during the anniversary
there is a tool and a work around to do that
point extraction and refining missions are really comfy honestly they're my favorite
Yeah until the refinery lands in a 100m deep pit and you don't have a driller.
i make sure i AM the driller for those if i don't see the mission with one already tbh
Depends on the cave complexity.
And never underestimate what an engineer can do with a platform gun.
I got platforms man
Driller saves time when the pump is in another room but getting out of a hole isn't so bad
My favorite are point extraction and escort.
A good scout knows this and isn't upset by banter.
>get C4'd by the driller on the stairway to the drop pod
>scream JUDAS into mic over and over
>spawn into space rig
>type "gg" and wait for next mission
Scout is easily the most fun to play, but I think all classes are important and cover their niches
I think gunner is really the odd man out.
There aren't a ton of missions where you're going "if only there was a gunner here!"
His shield can be a game changer during tight situations in defensing black box or stuff like that.
It's certainly nice to have when its there. Just like some convenient zip lines. But you learn to adapt.
Honestly one of my favorite things about the game is running through a tunnel and there's a big open complex cavern and each of the 4 dwarves were a different class and immediately sprinted into the void and used our own traversal tools to get across. Gunner ziplined across, scout grappeled to the ceiling, driller making stairs down the side, and engie making a platform obstacle course.
Try playing on Haz 4 or higher sometime.
nah even in haz 4 you don't need one but haz 5 very rarely you might depending on certain missions
Try gitting gud. If your team is killing bugs like they should be, there will never be a situation where you need a shield.
Try playing EDD where missions with bullshit mutators appear often.
Try sucking even more cocks soulshitter
Gunner is the jack of all trades. His weapons can cover any gap from close to long range, swarm and single target, while every other class will inevitably fall short on one.
Barring bullet hell, there’s no situation where a gunner won’t be useful.
I'm not saying gunner isn't useful, but as the jack of all trades he necessarily won't get to shine as bright.
It's nice to have a good gunner on my team who knows how to throw those shields and line camp an arena, but if there's an extra guy of another class I don't feel like it hurts as much.
I guess it depends a lot on the mission as well.
He's just a bundle of really efficient damage and recovery. If you're quickly going through the map, get all the nitra and don't get downed, he can often feel like a bit of a dead weight, but if things start going to shit, he's great at picking people up and killing bugs on a budget.
it's a boring class as well you just stand around protecting cunts most of the time and you can barely mine resources unless you wanna waste like 80 ziplines when the scout coulda just done the harvesting for free
it's so fucking BORING standing around 60 percent of the time waiting for a horde
>expend a precious, precious zipline reaching up to somewhere the dumb cunt scout has been refusing to mine for three straight minutes
>reach up to it and start mining
>ZIPPITY
>scout reaches over and mines too
>mine out the fucking platform underneath his feet and shoot at him
Okay but you get to hold down the left mouse button for extended amounts of time and everyone sucks your dick for constantly saving them.
Hey fuck you guy, bullet hell is cool as fuck and I WILL use it if there's less then two drillers in the lobby.
I like a bullet hell meme build, and with stunner it can actually be a lifesaver on swarmageddon, but the fact it effectively cuts your ammo by a quarter is too far
>game lets me missile spam
This is literally all I ask for.
>fire a missile
>move the crosshair around so it flies in circles
>repeat until out of ammo
>point at the scout
How can anyone hate the gunner?
>mfw the reloading animation when you have a full magazine
>multi-lock homing missiles
Why isn't this in the game?
That's the engie smart gun.
Lok-1 with explosive chemical rounds?
Man I wish ECR have extra explosions for every 3 locks on a target or increased the damage for every lock beyond 3 or something. Having to release the trigger every time you see a 3 on any of the targets is so lame.
>He doesn't know the joys of a perfectly timed dash, swivel and lead storm
Gunner's kinda taken for granted in the way Scout is, I feel the lack of a gunner hardest in escort missions since they can break the laser towers really easily. It's great to have armor consistently broken and crowd-clearing consistently pouring out, and especially a shield for getting breathing room for revivals/supplies/too many fucking bugs around.
Gunner's a safety net for when your team is falling apart, and there's so many glyphids in haz 5 that you pretty much need the gunner's mountains of ammo thrown in there. But yeah if it's lower haz and the team knows what they're doing, gunner takes the back seat.
gunner is fucking invaluable on every single point defense objective.
i refuse to do haz5 salvage without a gunner, it's that fucking game-changing.
If engie and/or driller do their jobs with their terrain manipulation tools, you can do point defemse smoothly without a gunner on team. That said his shield is a nice plan C in case bulk or Opressor do manage to barrel trough somehow and ziplines are often undervalued in their utility, especially for point defense.
Gunner is the "in case of emergency, break glass" button. If you're smooth sailing he's useless so you should make him do most of the manual labor like building pipelines or farming minerals near the floor. But when you're scout and you die in a really stupid unreachable position and you're swarmed, it's the gunner who's going to do something ridiculous with the zipline & shield to bail you out. And of course if it's haz 4-5 you'll definitely notice if you're missing a gunner.
>deep cock ballactic
>glyphids shouldn't trigger arachnophobia
>they still do
fuck me man
a scunt is a scunt. Lesser, greater, middling… Makes no difference. The degree is arbitrary. The definition’s blurred. If I’m to choose between one scunt and another… I’d rather not choose at all.
I agree, but you didn't need to reply to everyone to say this.
Does Stubby's t5 electric arc also apply to turrets?
I.e. will electrifying a bug in its range also proc turret arc/em discharge, or vice versa?
I don't think so but I haven't used any of the upgrades that require shooting your own turrets in forever
No, you have to hit turrets with electric bullets. The arc is still great though.
What a load of horseshit
Why are the devs so scared of fun interactions like that?
I'd actually bother using the stubby if it actually worked like that (and on unbuilt turrets)
Does anyone have DRG edit of this meme? I asked some good anon to make it and it was awesome but I can't find it in archive with any keywords including dwarf, photoshop, edit, etc.
I will save it this time, I swear.
I was going to play something else today but you fuckers are making me play drg again
I tried this game for an hour but couldn't really get into it. Does it get better later on? I mostly got lost during the (2nd?) mission
Sound you don't like to explore, so maybe it's not your thing. But if you don't plan to refund it I suggest you to try it again.
Bro your map?
Just play multiplayer and follow the group until you learn how caves tend to generate and how to use the terrain scanner so you don't get lost as often.
Yes it does. You tried a single loadout of 2 classes max, at low difficulty, in simpler missions with no upgrades, probably solo too.
Difficulty scaling and player count really changes how you handle bugs, synergy between classes is great and more complex missions are more challenging but more engaging.
Tbh the game does seem kinda boring at first when you only have a handful of grunts and 1 praetorian to fight and your guns are just ok at killing bugs.
Turn the difficulty up to at least Haz 3 instead of whatever it defaults to
>got lost
Anon your objectives in those first missions are about mining resources. Look for the blue glass minerals. If you're on your own use the laser pointer and identify the minerals, your robot friend will dig them out. Good for hard to reach locations.
When you get full dump your shit in the mule, she follows you, and will come when you call.
When you get enough, you call the drop pod. Stay close to the mule and when it starts walking for the drop pod follow the lighted path it leaves.
In the early game you will get some pretty simple map generations. Usually one long cave without too many twists and turns.
In later areas you get some real bullshit where molly walks up a 4 mile vertical cliff face, but then you have drillers and scouts to make sure someone gets home.
Follow your team and use your laser pointer with Ctrl to highlight them and to see what you ware pointing at is and make it toggle in the options if you want. Hold tab to open the map and press space to orient yourself to where you are looking in the map screen. These two tips make it magnitudes of levels easier to not get lost.
>join 3 greenbeards
>they never rock and stone
>quadruple dip like madmen
never again
>haz 3
>random doesn't ping the gold chunk
>he just puts it in molly instantly
some people are all business
Why ping the chunk instead of just putting it in Molly asap? Just so everyone can rock and stone about it?
Yes, it's a joke
Im level 5 and level 15 gunner and the game is.... ok
come back when you are lvl 100
im not gonna get to level 10 unless something cooler happens
ok, bye leaflover
you start getting overclocks after you're promoted
they're what the computer consoles that appear after a machine event or a rock-glyphid smashing event are for
whats that do
Over clocks are things you can apply to your weapons that change or modify them in certain ways.
Like reducing the clip size of a hand cannon, but making the shells explode.
Really at your point though, you have different classes you havent touched, all of which have 3 primary and secondary weapons to unlock and level up before you even have to worry about overclocks.
change how your guns work
comes in green, yellow and red flavors denoting the severity of their changes
green is usually a straightforward ammo/reload speed/damage up
yellow usually gives your gun a new mechanic or leans harder into one aspect of how it works, with the tradeoff of raw power or reliability
red drastically changes how your gun works, often bordering on turning it into a different weapon entirely
example for scout's shotgun:
>compact shells - green, +6 ammo and -0.2s reload time
>shaped shells - yellow, -50% spread of pellets, -4 ammo
>jumbo shells - red, +8 flat damage, -10 ammo, +0.5s reload time
however these aren't hard rules and one of scout's best overclocks is "special powder," a green overclock that lets you do TF2 force-a-nature jumps with your shotgun
The early part of the game is about promoting and unlocking weapons.
The other classes are definitely more fun to play.
Driller makes you completely re-orient the map in your head since you can almost always make a short cut. Scout can get anywhere fast. Engineer is fun and the game almost becomes a puzzle platformer.
if you dont have a faustian spirit you wont like this game. in other words this game is for white people only
UPON CLOSER EXAMINATION
I see a lot of chinks, russians, and south americans playing this though
they try to be white but just end up with a cargo cult
better take a shower and wash yourself
im brown 🙁
I’m a shitty little greenbeard, i’ve barely got green stubble. I wanna “main” driller since it seems like if i even just do the bare minimum while i’m learning i’ll still be useful and i can fuck up digging and still have plenty of extra fuel to correct. What are some tips for me?
protips for driller
>upgrade your drills for the love of god
>pace yourself when digging, let yourself get up to ~95% heat, 99% if your timing's good, then let the heat drop off back to 0% on its own, this is much faster than overheating and waiting for it to hit 0%
>C4 bomb the scout
>C4 can be used for both terrain and for offensive, but remember your number of bombs is limited
>your sidearm sucks, this is normal and doesn't change much until you get access to overclocks, and even then driller still has some of the shittiest sidearms
>this is okay because driller's primaries are amazing, all three are good choices but cryo cannon is the best all-rounder; if possible double-check your team's loadout to make sure you're not interfering with any heat or cryo builds, and take the sludge pump if you're not sure. always take flamethrower on robot missions, the heat status-effect hitting on a robot will instakill them, doesn't matter what kind of robot it is except caretaker
>C4 the scout
>>pace yourself when digging, let yourself get up to ~95% heat, 99% if your timing's good, then let the heat drop off back to 0% on its own, this is much faster than overheating and waiting for it to hit 0%
Wtf, I'm 350 hours in and never knew about it.
It's like 3 times faster to just let it cool than to wait for the overheat to pass.
kek are you serious?
I could feel this like 10 hours in and see it.
what the fuck man, down syndrome?
how did you not know about it? it's something that becomes obvious when you just use the drill lol
haven't you ever finished your drilling at like 60% and noticed it's much quicker than the overheat?
actual retard
Also unless it's Rich Atmosphere (or you dig straight down), you don't move fast enough to actually make use of 2 drilling speed upgrades so you might as well always take the damage upgrade instead.
I'm a greenbeard an I did it accidentally today.
upgrade drilling speed as soon as you can, feels so much better
don't reach overheat while drilling, go as high as you can then stop at around 9#%, let it cool down, then continue
always keep track of your fuel if you're going to drill to the drop pod, it can get awkward if you lead the team through a tunnel with the clock ticking then you run out of fuel prematurely in a biome that takes ages to dig through
learn to use TAB quite often checking the map
drill 2-3 clicks into a wall
place C4 with upgraded terrain destruction
do this two or three times next to each other
??? (explosions)
profit. you now have created a perfect space for holdout objectives where enemies take twice as long to reach you
DON'T ONLY DIG TUNNELS.
the single biggest mistake i see drillers make is they only dig tunnels. while this is useful, driller truly shines when terraforming the area to make it easier to fight in. the difference between a bumpy room with lots of rocks and other obstacles and a room that's just wide open space is night and day.
whenever a mission has you stay in one spot for an extended amount of time (refinery, salvage, elimination, point extraction, any time you find a machine event, even egg hunt depending on the map generation), you should take some time to quickly remove obstacles or even use your c4 to create large open spaces where there are none. don't spend all your fuel on this, but spending a lot usually isn't an issue.
>Think Driller is going to be my favorite class
>The dirt is only like 2ft thick
>The guns are not very fun IMO, flamethrower kinda feels like it blows
>Sometimes I go on my own drilling adventure through the map but it's not that great. Seemingly only truly awesome when I dig up straight to extraction point with the boys.
>Engi has a fun gameplay loop and platforms
>Scout is 2fast2hit, has crowd cotnrol, and exploits weak points with his burst damage shotgun
>Gunner is very useful in boss fight and in a pinch, his mobility scooters are useful for the whole team and in solo
Does it ever become fun? Am I missing something? I'm in my first 30 hours, to be fair.
>flamethrower blows
it's the best driller wep tho
>engi has fun gameplay loop
nah it's gay having to negotiate platforms I like going anywhere by drilling instead
Flamethrower shines in Rival missions with robot enemies and in higher hazards where there are bigger and bigger crowds of glyphids, it's excellent watching swarms just melt. Your capacity for violence is only limited by your flamethrower ammo
consider your gun upgrades or other guns
Sticky flames are very strong at both CC and clearing trash, plus setting shit on fire is always useful
Cryo is almost always OP
Goo gun is a different playstyl but very versatile
EPC with TCF is a game changer, even if you don't bother mining with it
Wave cooker has like 4 different builds that are both fun and strong
Personally I'd say driller is OP and the most powerful class:
I run sticky flames so I have amazing area control, it's nearly impossible to run out of ammo for a sticky flamethrower.
Collete wave cooker to help with high HP enemies and stuff far away like spitters.
Got the throwing axes so I can throw into a bugs face when I'm in a pinch, this interrupts the praetorian spitting attack and can one shot mactera. I can also slam them into walls and use them later if needs be also you can slam them into certain terrain hazards like the farting plants; this will destroy the hazard but allow you to pick up the axe again.
Then my C4 I put max damage on for when I really wanna clear a crowd of bugs but if you want to use them to speed mine/clear terrain then you can increase the size of the explosion and bring a maximum of 4.
The drills are the ultimate terrain tool, you can go anywhere on the map as long as you fuel. You can drill through floors or walls when you're confused on where to go next, you can make tunnels back to the drop pod or a comfy bunker if you need to hole up for a wave or event. I run them with the perk that cools them as they damage enemies so if I'm somehow caught with no ammo I can drill my way through bugs.
This just how I play but ice gun is also very good and the laser pistol can be super broken when mastered. a well timed shot can mine materials from the ceiling essentially removing the need for a scout (based).
drills have more uses than you'd think.
An easy one is making staircases that your entire team can use. And also being fucking essential in on-site refining missions. And if the way back to the drop pod is too long and winding, you can dig a straight tunnel to the drop pod (just watch out for overheating). You can also use your drills as an emergency backup weapon, and can potentially synergize well with the cryo cannon and vampirism (freeze swarm of grunts > drill remaining grunts and get free healing for each one).
Basically, driller is fun.
Also, something that I barely see anyone do, you can drill praetorians to break their armor and make them run away
wait, you can break praetorian armor with drills?!
That's really useful to know, I think I might've done that without realizing before.
It's really great, if I pass by a praetorian or I get cornered, I just drill them and let scouts kill them easily, the most important thing is they also turn around and flee for around 1 second, great and inexpensive way to expose them
Just play the one you find most fun and don't worry about it.
swarmageddon can suck my nuts
>blocks your path, and the path of the swarmers
>post nerf thorns
>good
so what if it's nerfed? 24 damage is more health than a swarmer can ever have
The damage isn't the issue, it's the cooldown. You'll almost die by the time it kills 5 swarmers if you rely on it.
thorns have a cooldown now?
It has a cooldown since January 2020. Currently it has a cooldown of 0.75 seconds and only damages a single enemy at a time
Anon, it had CD since I started playing
Well, you kill one in the whole swarm.
>praetorian vomits on me from five miles away
>still hits me
>praetorian vomits on me
>grapple into another zip code
>still take damage
>1 glyphid grunt guard
>starts running at me
>waste a fuckload of ammo even rockets on it
I hate then worse than an oppressor these gays soak so much god damn damage
do those shits have high defense/HP even if you blow off their armor? they take forever to die even with bare legs
yeah that's the annoying thing even when you blow off their armor they take the same damage it feels like
They have like 220 hp, on top of heavy armor. It's not a big issue if you actually shoot them in the face instead of just blasting their legs.
>haha bro just shoot le face
>face covered 99 percent of the time
>haha bro le armor shredder
nah it literally does nothing you strip their leg armor and it still does the same damage
you were literally whining that you couldnt kill a single guard while I dont even feel a difference between a guard and a regular grunt. so much for armor shredding does nothing
I wasn't whining that I couldn't hit them I was whining about how much damage they can tank even when you strip their armor, are you ESL moron? I can kill them moron it just takes 4 years and wastes a ton of ammo.
>I can kill them moron it just takes 4 years and wastes a ton of ammo.
exactly. but not for us armor shred chads, whiner
you shred the armor and they still take the same damage dude
you on the space rig 10 minutes earlier
>nooooooooooooooooo I will not take armor shredding
You shouldn't be shooting at heavy armor on purpose in the first place.
Even if you break their armor faster, they'll still protect their face with their legs and you're doing 1x damage instead 2x (plus any weakpoint bonus you might have). Just wait a moment and shoot their face when they drop their guard, they're low priority anyway.
because I have armor breaking I mow down everything including prets in the time you wait for the glyphid to allow you to shoot at it
works on my machine
Pro tip hotshot, glyphid guards have very high explosive resistance. Use your revolver next time.
A dwarfen haiku:
Damn the
evil insectoids
I will kill
female dwarves when?
Dwarves are like Mushrooms! they sprout out of the ground
How could you tell the difference?
>finally got bouncy bullets on minigun and revolver
>spec both weapons for penetration
>mfw soloing dreadnoughts by shooting the ceiling and walls around them and all my bullets bounce up their ass
Other fun meme builds anyone?
nice haz1 post
>He doesn't still have fun with his friends on Haz5.5 deepdives.
Man you must be really shit at the game if you can't make fun builds work just because the haz goes up.
every now and then you get some scout that does some MLG shit that catches you off guard. the other day I turned around as a bunch of mactera were ambushing me as I was mining, and our scout came flying from out of nowhere and hit them mid air with a cryo grenade. I think he killed like close to 11 or so with one nade
yeah scouts are based and I never grief them high skill ceiling class that often saves a downed team by simply luring glyphids
95% of the time the scout is shit
but man when the scout is good it's a fucking experience
why the fuck did they buff the nanocyte breeders so they don't freeze as easy anymore?
to "buff" the crossbow
what does the crossbow have thats good against them again? I barely ever use it
it makes cryo arrows preferable over cryo grenades to freeze big targets
Which perks are gud? I got hoverboots and forget to use it
Iron will and Beast Master, leaf loving try hards can get fucked
field medic
iron will
beast master below haz 5 (dies too fast in haz 5)
iron will and then fill the second with whatever you want.
Iron will is great as it literally saves games (if your team is wiped you can pop iron will and res someone to save the mission before going down).
resupplier is pretty much always good
born ready on any build that has to reload
dash on everyone but scout
medic and iron will are godsend when playing with random and/or less skilled players
Heightened Senses solo/on scout/when still learning
beast master when solo
dash is a crutch perk
there it is!
iron will, field medic, heightened senses if you're scout.
anything else is a meme.
Hoverboots is situationally useful for scouts that want a crutch against falling and don't field Special power or Hoverclock for one reason or another. Other than that I wouldn't take it, even if fall damage is the most common way to die. Shit just takes too long to activate in most situations.
why does the scout even have alt secondaries when special powder exists?
I finally got some audiovisual mods
game is fun again
Bros... I've unlocked every overclock and almost every cosmetic.
Now I just feel empty inside. I love DRG but I feel like I have exhausted everything this game has to offer
don't say this, they'll call you a zoomer for getting bored when the incentives run out I agree
just take a break, play some other vidya for a bit.
This. A few weeks doing something else (including non-vidya activities) makes things feel more fresh again.
>play a few hundred hours
>oh noes I did everything in the game for now!!1!11
its ok just stop and come back next season
alternatively try mods
Tbqh you can experience most things DRG has on offer in a few dozen hours, and still experience new things after a few thousand hours.
yeah I'm just saying getting a few hundred hours out of a 30$ game is not exactly a problem, if you get tired of it at this point then it's fair. It's like not like an AAA game that you can clear the story in 6 hours and 100% all the dumb shit in 15h.
The game became way more fun for me when I cheated in all the overclocks
You didn't beat the game.
Why some chucklefucks outright brag for having weak character is beyond me.
If circumventing the 500-hour RNG dice roll that is getting Special Powder is wrong then hey I don't want to be right
>needing 500 hours to open OCs
Shitter is a cheater.
In the end you only fooled yourself. Nothing was lost. Nothing was gained. A hollow game with no true victory.
Keep telling yourself that. You're completely at RNG's mercy if you want a specific overclock unless you cheat. I won't condone it but I won't condemn it either.
I don't care.
Yet you brag like the mouthbreather you are. Go be bad at videogames somewhere else. I bet you write reviews for IGN.
Devs literally tell you use a save editor if you don't wanna grind for 6 months, which was about the time it takes to get every weapon overclock before this most recent patch. It's faster now because promotions give overclocks but I don't care. Cry about it.
>NOOOOOOOO YOU HAVE TO PLAY FOR MONTHS BEFORE YOU CAN ENJOY YOUR WEAPONS TO THEIR FULLEST
No.
not him but it's funner grinding them gives me an incentive to play
The game being fun gives me incentive to play. I don't need a carrot on a stick to get me to run.
Yet you're incapable of having fun without cheating the tools, you disingenious leaflover.
no it just enhances the experience a lot I don't need it
Devs know better than engage with cheating pissbabies any more than neccessary. They know that you just ruin your own fun, get bored not even realizing why and leave the community before long. In a way you are a self-correcting problem. You are your own downfall.
I've been playing for over a year and am at like 500 hours and still only have a handful of half-decent OCs. I hate this shit, for a game w
>medic
>shield link
>and gunner
I love jumping into a pile of downed team mates, slapping down a shield, blasting every shitty little glyphid to pieces and reviving the lot of them.
>I love jumping into a pile of downed team mates,
Taking fall damage
>slapping down a shield, blasting every shitty little glyphid to pieces
Killing glyphids after they're starting to disperse, thus wasting time
>and reviving the lot of them.
Shield now ends mid heal, forcing you to flee or get downed yourself.
Yep. Average gunner moment right here.
>Taking fall damage
severe autism
>using the zipline bug
You didn't complete the assigment.
also severe autism
Hey, you don't need to reveal your whole medical history to us.
Playground comeback, heavily indicative of stunted growth from severe autism
Mindless repetition of your catchphrase is a symptom of way worse conditions than autism. Whatever you have, I hope the meds help.
i go blam blam and bug dies
>needing anything besides the pickaxe
That's a kick.
>finaly convince friend group to buy DRG after a year of trying and them constantly dodging it
>they love it
>we spend over 10 hours playing it over the weekend
>they are already making plans to play it tommorow
>mfw
this except they ignored me, never played it, and then a year and a half later one of them texted me "hey have you heard of DRG?"
My friends are addicted to GTA Online despite all of them admitting it's awful and they hate it. I got them to download DRG when it was on sale for like four bucks and the only one game they were willing to play had more glitches in it than I have ever encountered in all my play time, so they all just quietly uninstalled the game after. Fucking pain
Why uninstall? The game barely takes any room in your drive.
my friends are dicks. recently one groped my girlfriend at a party and appearently I'm the bad guy cause I punched him in the back of the head for it. no longer really friends with them
kek you sucker punched a guy the back of the head? truly moron behavior. atleast look a man in the eye when you square up, gay. Bet your drink ass girl enjoyed it too.
>tries to cop an illicit feel on your girlfriend
>you cop an illicit feel on his head
I don't see the issue
insane the amount of cucks defending the moron instead of defending a fellow anon, you are all worthless shits
>believing women
you have to go back
>girlfriend gets groped by a moron "friend"
>uhhhh.... how do I follow the hivemind in this case
>do I execute ihatemorons.exe?
>uhh... but my girlfriend is a woman so I can't trust her
>so I should execute ihatewomen.exe and kneel to my moron friend
>wait but he's a moron so I can't do that too...
>hivemind chip enters panic mode
>does nothing like a cuck
absolute cucks
They're both morons, one is just a simp
why would you punch him in the back of the head fag talk to him 1 on 1 and tell him to apologize to you and your girl in front of everyone and if he doesn't fight him
Groping is bad.
Sucker punching is also bad.
>ITS A GOO SACK
>GOO SACK
>THERE IS GOO IN THE SACK
I FOUND A MAGGOT
LOOKS LIKE POOP, SMELLS LIKE POOP
MAGGOT
we're rich
>get drunk in the hub
>the mission is starting and I didn't bother to pass out to get rid of the drunknss
>spawn in the mission
>im still drunk
>oh shit
>try to get downed and revived so maybe it helps
>it doesn't
>have to play like that
I genuinely felt nauseous after few minutes
It's like playing with extra modifiers on, especially if you're scout and you have to constantly hug the wall so you don't fall to your death
just got the playstation trophy for getting all my classes to silver, appearently only 0.1% of playstation players get this. rather than pride i actually felt embarassed when i say that shit, think i'm gonna put down the game until s4
Tried to play the game on PS5 once, don't get how I once could have tolerated FPS games with controllers.
Reminder to all Gunners
The Coilgun is the only acceptable secondary.
take too long to charge 🙁
Take T2B and don't charge shots ever again, you don't need to take Hellfire although that is the strongest in damage output, just take any OC that doesn't give you increased charge speed and you can just use it as a quick-shot trash-clear with infinite blowthrough that you start the fight with and then mop up the group with your primary of choice. Just make sure to take T5C for the extra slowdown and damage. Personally I use UMC for the increased radius and trail duration with no downsides.
Teach me how to build and use it oh wise sage
I like my build.
>Shoot groups of enemies from afar and/or through walls
>Shoot big enemies from afar and/or through walls
>Shoot downed teammates to clear the bugs around them from afar and/or through walls
I usually go for electricity for the t5, but I should try out the bigger AoE.
22223 I use it to snipe shit and for AoE and CC. It can be a pain to set up sometimes because it's a line but when it works it looks so good.
I prefer magnum with explosive rounds and magic bullet and as much ammo for it as I can bring
I like all three secondaries
The bulldog and burstfire gun are pretty much the same though so it's boring
Reminder to all gunners: you are literally badengineers.
this ruined other games for me because of the community aspect
i really don't miss playing moba games and starcraft and fps when you get told to have a nice day by your enemies and teammates 20 times per day
i've never encountered anything remotely similar in 100h of drg, closest thing was a driller telling me my platforms were shit (and he wasn't wrong)
>SSTE
>Point Extraction or Refinery
>Golden Bugs
Yup, it's slowdown time from too much gold on the screen and I love it.
>pots o' gold
>crassus detonator
WE'RE - and I can't stress this enough - RICH!
>Walk out with 2.5k~3k gold
The best of feelings.
>its a driller mines out the rock behind the top hemisphere and it all goes as one piece
god i love drillers that do that
Is there ever a reason for driller to use Subata, I usually like to keep every class' weapon on at least one loadout, but Subata is just...nothing
Explosive Reload is a good OC for the pistol and can make up for its power deficit.
I use it with tranquilizer rounds with face melter. Face melter has no crowd control at all and the stun on tranquilizer rounds is insane. 50% chance for an 8 second stun, insanely long. Just tap a menace or mactera and you're safe, or spam the crowd of grunts while born ready reloads the flame thrower and you're safe. The stun is so fucking long
I just bought this game and have never entered one of these threads despite seeing them daily for years. What am i in for?
total scout death
Picture Killing Floor with Left 4 Dead's ally revivals and a clear-cut objective system.
if you need a babysitter early on let me know
>nooooooooooooooooooo you are not allowed to shred armor
Has season 3 ended yet? I stopped playing because of the constant unwanted events.
no. you WILL clean it up
strong autism
Will go until june I think
how many of you are autists scared of multiplayer who play permasolo because they're scared of being judged by other players
admit it right now
Who are you talking to right now? Who is it you think you see? Do you know how much I mine a year? I mean, even if I told you, you wouldn't believe it. Do you know what would happen if I suddenly decided to stop going into work? A mining corporation big enough that it could be listed on the SADMAQ goes belly up. Disappears! It ceases to exist without me. No, you clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not being judged, Anon. I AM THE JUDGE! A dwarf enters a cave and gets grabbed and you think that of me? No. I am the one who presses V!
>last guy alive
>get picked up by a mactera grabber
>It's a low gravity mission
>it lifts you above the swarm and drops you safely out of harms way
except when there is a goo bomber and the grabber presses your face into the goo while the glyphids run a train on you
l-lewd…
THERE'S GOO IN THE SACK
>3 Goo Bombers Spawn
>They all zero in on you
>The Gunner
WELCOME TO THE CUM ZONE!
>Slasher slow down still affects even when you have iron will
I hate that shit.
resistant
not immune
I still hate it so much.
negative bridge, are you immune?
i have not seen a single prospector in 100h of play
I have seen a total of five in 300 hours, you're not really missing anything, it's a shit encounter
MISTER
I DONT THINK I LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE
If you've ever seen a Huuli Hoarder it's just one of those except it summons a bunch of robots.
Me neither, I want to complete the bestiary goddammit!
there's a bestiary?
I'm missing one in Other and one in Mactera.
I miss them.
that's the only thing i'm missing, the fuck is this?
Uhhh...breeder?
I think I'm missing the watcher vine as well as the prospector
IT'S PIKACHU
Carnivorous Larva. Look for missions with this modifier.
I've literally never seen this modifier. I have 230 hours.
I think they stealth nerfed it because it was too fun when it combined with golden bugs
I only bought this game for her, obviously I didn't expect her to have huge tits and supposed this was fanart but I didn't expect her to not even exist
It's just Mission Control, but human and female.
Go beg someone to make a mod pack that fully swaps Mission Control with a woman.
May have to hire a voice actress, unless you're okay with the monotone AI voice stuff.

Why do Scouts hate Doretta? For the past 3 escort missions I've seen Scouts purposefully throwing her head into pits and chasms in an attempt ro get her left behind. Drillers and Gunners seem the most caring. Engineers are Neutral.
Can R&D explain this?
>class with the most selfish tools is selfish
Whoa
Scunts will be scunts
NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOall the Dorettas that are brought back from missions are promptly incinerated in the waste disposal facilites and ejected as space dust
didnt see a lootbox in ages. I will never get my minigun frameworks
i got my salvo module today
can't wait to use it and realize it's fucking garbage because hurricane needs a rework
>play driller
>throw saw grenade at hole to kill bugs pouring out of it
>wake up BetC 3 rooms away
But who runs the rival corporation?
I hold that Rivals are humans, personally
>slick black robot designs
DElves, obviously.
Not enough spikes
A shredder bot is basically a one big jet propulsed spike, if you think about it.
ok leaf lover
>her personal combat Doretta blocks your path
*zzzzzip*
A Dark Elf, duh.
>ywn be a human intern for DRG that's forced to help your elf milf (melf?) Boss "work out the stress" from running operations on galaxy's most dangerous planet
Why live
I'm new. does the gunners shield actually prevent enemies and their projecticles from entering it's radius, or does it just reduce damage you take while within it?
prevents
the first part but keep in mind it has a ~2sec delay from the moment you launch it from it to deploy so don't wait until you have 10hp to toss it. also try using it when things are dicey instead of using it solely as a revive bubble
SKIPPING GOLD IS ABSOLUTELY UNDWARFISH BEHAVIOR
IF YOU SKIP GOLD YOU'RE A FUCKING LEAF LOVER TO ME
I DON'T CARE YOU HAVE NOTHING TO SPEND IT ON
IF YOU DON'T THINK GOLD IS AN END ON ITSELF THEN YOU'RE NOT A FUCKING DWARF
I just am getting into the game and don't know what to pick out of all these options. I'm too autistic to just have fun and pick things on trying them out or whatnot. How do I play Engineer? What upgrades are all around useful and best to pick?
especially early on you can't go wrong with just picking the extra ammo gun mods.
engie makes platforms on walls for people to mine stuff. so if you see stuff on the wall put a platform there for people to grapple to it so they can mine it
you also have your turret. so I'd just sit it down in a good vantage point to mow down bugs.
as a new player the distraction grenades will also be your friend if you're in a pinch
I've gotten a few levels under my belt but no new weapons so I'm not even sure if the starting shotgun or grenade launcher are real good. Also, what is better, a single big turret or two small turrets?
This is good to know too, but I honestly don't even know where to start on the base equipment upgrades. And the perk trees and massive and I have no idea where to start with them either.
All the weapons are good. I'm max level engi and I use the shotgun and grenade launcher, but in general every weapon in the game is viable so there's none that are just bad weapons you have to avoid. If you don't know what perks to pick just choose born ready, resupplier, thorns, and iron will for your active. Change any out id you think there's one you'd like more but that's a solid foundation to build off of. 2 turrets is higher dps than 1 turret on paper so 99% of people will tell you to take 2, but I strongly prefer 1 and have over 1k hours playing engineer 70% of the time so don't let anyone tell you it's wrong if you like that play style more
Don't worry about meta builds until you have all yhe OCs, which won't be any time soon. Anytime you hear anyone discussing builds they are talking from the perspective of being able to pick and choose your OC from all of them, which won't apply to you. Literally don't even concern yourself with build discussions for this reason alone, just pick whatever you want and eventually form builds around the first couple OCs you get
I've only started playing a week ago and the autocannon has got to be the single most satisfying gun I've ever used in a videogame.
How did they do it?
Just wait until you get the big bertha overclock, it really feels like a damn cannon with that. its pure sex
They looked at all the cool guns in video games that were always the rare easter eggs you never get to use and made primary weapons out of them. All of the gunners primaries feel that way to me. Fucking love having a minigun I actually get to use, not save the entire game for "that" section
>just heard a voice line
>take that you filthy goblin
>there were meant to be gobs in game
god I need it, the rival company should be goblins encroaching on dwarf drilling opps not this robot bullshit
Humans and Trolls are canon as well.
Karl knows what their companies would be like.
It's just fantasy space so that's not surprising but elves do not exist.
>have scout as my very first promotion
>obviously want scout OCs as I play him the most
>so far I roughly have: 6 for gunner, 4 for engineer, 8(!) for driller and 1 for scout (for a gun I rarely use)
Please tell me it's just devs screwing with the drop chances to force into playing other classes, I don't want to believe that my luck is THIS shit.
One of my embarrassing retard moments was not realizing you choose which character whos oc you get when infusing a blank core after a machine event. I used to just spam e and not look and didnt realize you have a choice for so fucking long lmao
IF YOU LEAVE THE EDD WHILE THERE'S STILL ONE PLAYER ALIVE YOU'RE A HOE AND WE STILL WON BTW
Everyone is the most important until they need a shield.
but... should there be a deep rock galactic 2?
nah just continuous content for 1
yeah its called deep rock galactic: survivor
that shit looks like a mobile game, no one will play that trash. sad to see the devs wasting time and money in that thing
It's a different team making it, they're just publishing it.
I want to play as mission control
>one of those semi-idle management sims but with belligerent Dwarves who get randomly lumped into groups, usually with bad synergies like 4 Scouts
I'd buy it
>first game is pretty much exclusively around the dwarfs and DRG's nebulous "rivals", with stuff like
being saved for the last season plottwist
>second game features other "fantasy races, but in space" front and center
For me, it's an ideal direction.
>ork wife
holy fucking based
>wife
i assumed he's just a plumber now
>gunner on his zipline instead of throwing down a shield for his boys
He's clearly out of shields for a while now
Not our problem. They should've gotten on the zipline with us.
>sharing his ziplines like a simp
>that ample pain in engie's eyes
I always get tonal whiplash whenever I'm confronted with the fact that, aside from le funny drunk dwarves, working for DRG would be utterly miserable.
>wife
Uh, anon, I think she just wants her pipes fixed.
>working for DRG would be utterly miserable.
haha yes, how awful
>the only reason why they're the only mining company on Hoxxes is because they don't give a shit about even most basic safety regulations
>would leave you to die in a heartbeat and just hire another dupe cause it's cheaper
>you have to pay to get promoted
>can withhold off-days
even so if you are willing to take the risk you get paid heaps of cash.
Paid to buy what, shit that they themselves sell to you?
What a joke.
you cash out and return to your home if we talk some theoretical lore here. the minerals alone you accumulate are worth a fortune
>get paid money to kill bugs in space
You understand that people would pay for that opportunity?
>part of Hoxxes is fenced off and l turned into safary for rich, knife-eared assholes
Now there's an interesting premise for a new season/sequel.
>working for DRG would be utterly miserable.
>big guns
>explosions
>beer
>bros
yes the worst
>miserable
Yeah, I'll definitely fix her pipes, if you know what I mean.
Scout = furry
Driller = dickgirls
Engie = vanilla
Gunner = e-boicon
Extremely accurate
Driller is netori because he carries the strongest ugly bastard energy
gunner strikes me as a vintage porn enjoyer, scout as a chud therefore a pedo, driller is a deviant and wants to be pegged
new biomes??!??!?!?
>ruins your day
ambusher is worse than this lil guy
Who?
probably means the leech
the fucking glowing blue one that shoots like 3 trillion shots then buries back into the ground to do it again somewhere else it's just an improved acid spitter
Oh that's the menace.
ah you mean the menace. just side step and hit it in the weak spots
use the correct names retard
I forgot, sue me moron
you'll be hearing from my lawyer
Just ping it for your scout to snipe bro :^)
the menace is a much bigger problem if you let it start shooting but it always announces itself with a loud burp
also it glows bright blue for extra accuracy
acid spiders are quiet and blend in the dark
it's just that simple
When I play scout I try to always light up the ceilings and check for leeches, but I really don't know what to do about it on other classes besides run heightened senses.
I feel like acid spitters hit harder and make less noise than the menaces.
>but I really don't know what to do about it on other classes
you can hear it. if you hear a leech bolt, turn around and smack it
I have never heard the leeches make a sound and I don't even play with music on.
here the grab. you have to listen for the zzzzzzzzz
people use sound mods to make the leeches more noticable. DRG is full of these people playing with training wheels and acting like youre crazy for not noticing leeches mid-swarm
I don't know if I would notice one by sound midswarm but they are easy to notice. Even if I don't notice it, I don't wander in dark, unexplored caves alone so I'm fine. I can also literally see someone dying to a leech so I know what I'm getting into if I decide to go revive them.
The only mods I'm really interested in are things that will make the game run better and super fast lootbugs but I couldn't get the modding page to load when I tried opening it through the game.
the vast majority of players don't use any mods though
>I feel like acid spitters hit harder and make less noise than the menaces.
acid spitters die in like 2 shots the menaces are less squishy and hit harder
Shot for shot spitters probably do have more damage, but the menace has a much faster rate which puts it over the top.
I thought leech was scary as fuck when I first started
Same. Now if I see one before a teammate does I let them get caught for my personal enjoyment.
YES.
what bug kills the most greenbeards?
Gravity
>moron starts the drilldozer while im still mining nitra
>get stuck behind fighting
>moron immediately starts the drilldozer as soon as it reached the crystal
>they all die while im mining nitra (we dont even have enough for a resupply)
>drilldozer dies before i can make it back
I have had losses and bad decisions by me directly leading to a loss, but I have never had a bad game until today.
then you are still too new
at some point you will stop making mistakes and any failure will be the result of others' incompetencies
like friendly fire, double dipping leaving you (the one that does the fighting) without ammo
you will stop needing others' utilities
you will be able to solo an entire wave when all others are down (from mistakes that you yourself used to make)
fight on, my dawi, i see greatness in you
I've had this same thing too except it was a low enough haz that it didn't matter.
>rich atmosphere
>exploder infestation
the real problem with spitters is that you can't see them because of their color. you get suddenly wacked by one of those sneaky gays
Ultimately this is your scout's fault, but you can track their location from their shot trail.
there is no way you can ever keep a biome like magma core lit up enough too see all spitters
You can during a wave (when it matters most).
you can see then, just barely, unlike web spitters that are literally glowies
are people really complaining about spitters? they die in like 1 or 2 well places shots unlike the menaces that do more damage and duke around by burying, give me 5 spitters over a single menace any day
>give me 5 spitters over a single menace any day
jinxing
your next h5 game will have waves purely of acid spitters
mushroom?
"MASH ROOM MASH ROOM" SHUT! IT! GET BACK TO WORK!
should i get this while its on sale on steam rn?
absolutely
i got it when the sale started and i'm having more fun with this 10 buck deal than with some 60 dollar games
>You did admirably team, admirably... Unfortunately we lost three more teams while you were down there. Damn it all to hell.
Feels like this season is the first time where Mission Control is seeing miners dropping like flies, and it started to bother him AND the management.
>be me, Greenbeard driller
>no idea what im doing
>try to keep up but get lost easily
>end up just wandering off and looking for gold and shiny goodstuff
>gather every bit i see
>if i find trophy/et cetera i carry it around like Gnome Chompski from Half Life 2 between mining excursions
>no idea where anyone is
>eventually objectives get completed
>other dwarves call extraction pod
>drill directly to it, spamming callouts
>run into 3 other dorfs for the first time since we landed as they find my tunnel
>slap dice
>rock and stone
tfw antisocial wagie even in vidya
lootbug popped
I'm a pretty casual player, and enjoy the Engi class the most. I have the Neuro-Lasso overclock on the Loki Smart Rifle, but I got the Eraser overclock yesterday and was told that's better in most situations.
I really enjoy the slow and feel like it makes a difference, but shooting more might just be better. Would love some guidance.
M1000 is my favorite weapon. It's fun 1 shoting grunts but I feel like it still doesn't do enough damage or have enough ammo. What scout weapon has the most damage output?
scout? damage output?
so they all suck, got it
they dont but if you want to do dmg you could play any other class
>most damage output?
the smgs
I enjoy Plasma Carbine and switching into Zhukovs for big bugs. Coupled with Boomerang makes the trio very good at dealing with crowds and big targets.
I never bothered checking, does the Boomerang electrify stack with the Plasma Carbine's? They show up as two separate status effects on the bugs.
zhukovs are kino
I can't live without rocket (shotgun) jumping
The M1000 is fascinating to me. I think right now it performs worse than the GK2. But the sniper fantasy of focusing down to hit a well placed loud shot, it's just too alluring to ignore and everyone ends up using an M1000. Then a swarm starts and the scout struggles to do anything in it because he's trying to play a slow methodical sniper playstyle against 150 bugs. Because the wish to hit a weak spot with a sniper is too strong.
it's why I never use sniper rifle rather zhukove that can take out swarms as well as the perk that's good against weakspots and just zipping around chewing through big boys and waves I don't think I've ever touched the sniper in my life
The focus shot is retarded as well. With a default config it doesn't actually do any extra damage per ammo used.
this
m1k is bait for people who make quickscope montages
a scout diving behind enemies to zhukov a weak spot or just be a pseudogunner with the smg is better
The sniper just feels more ammo efficient to me than either of the assault rifles. I use minimal clips & cryo minelets btw if that matters.
Blowthrough Hipster is the most popular M1000 build by far tho
Engie needs a massive nerf because he can do anything better than others.
>Platform guns makes vertical holes a joke
>Sentry guns makes waves a joke
>Secondaries are either zerg killer or anti elites
>Warthog oneshots any normal bugs while having tons of ammo
>PGL rocker jump overclock is more fun than shitty Scunts
