It's a more casual game and Casual gamers probably already have DRG at the back of their mind from being shilled so much, so for $9 a Survivors game with a familiar name and 3D graphics as opposed to the 2D sprite games that other Survivor games are it's a steal.
I wouldn't think too much about it, it's like how gacha mobile spinoffs often pop off harder than where they originate from.
>it's a vampire survivors clone
what.
why are they allowed to put Survivor as the suffix? i mean, i hate copyright law and i think intellectual property as a concept should not exist... but that's just so lazy. vampire survivors and its clone are such a blight. fricking casuals
Such a fricking bad name rework also, despite having enjoyed the game more than BotW
the game frickin blows, why is it popping off?
Streamers playing it, and the auto-shooter genre has been lacking something that wasn't MSPaint-tier shovelware in some time. Think the last one I enjoyed prior was Halls of Torment, but it has its own issues.
Vampire Survivors straight up rips off Castlevania sprites, I don't think that they have much room to complain about people using Survivor in the title.
>a fricking vampire survivors clone instead of a prequel with a bigger focus on melee with goblins/demons and experimental repeating black powder guns
Is this another Darkest Dungeon moment where the devs just got lucky when making a game and have no idea what to do afterwards?
They've already announced and shown off what they're working on. It's called DRG Rogue Core. It's basically a roguelike DRG. Might be decent, might suck ass. We'll see.
The problem is that DRG's identity is basically LOTR dwarves + Warhammer-esque scifi-fantasy hybrid + Starship Troopers/Colonial Marines from Aliens. You can't just go back to Goblins without rethinking some of the franchise's core principles. I think it is possible, but you'd actually have to try and clearly the devs just want easy money.
It's in 'maintenance mode' because adding new features would be too difficult for their spaghetti code. Expect DRG 2 sometime around 2027-28, just as a rough time estimate.
What's the fascination with steam numbers to gamers? I understand devs but literally who the frick cares what game was trending hardest with normies? I know this is like the homosexual nip sales charts people used to post I guess.
Boring people like to argue about numbers because they have nothing of merit to say about any other aspect of a game. People still post those Japanese charts btw I saw a thread yesterday.
Sales numbers indicate the direction of the industry, this is a decent proxy for that. As we can see from this, the direction of the industry is towards idle games based off known IPs.
survivor clones are fun 20 min long arcade style games. and you are all homosexuals. not everything needs trannies fricking each other for the story or skinner box gacha games or competitive multiplayer. some people just wanna move a guy around on the screen and avoid the enemies, ya know like a fricking video game.
These fake engagement numbers need to fu k off already. Every game after bg3 is trying too hard to get those numbers, you can tell theyreir fake as shit

bigger number better

>wasting double the ammo because they tank more >trying to pray that the meteriots don't fall and end up killing my entire team >forced to clean the rockpox on every mission >forced to spend more hours if your primary mission is near a rockpox infested zone.
Disgusting
Another cool coop game lost to corporate greed and developer homosexualry >we can't add new weapons and retroactively texture them but we can work on two different games in the same universe
frick them, I knew their sappy community focused attitude was a front for them being totally moronic
>Another new release that does record breaking numbers
At this point I'm convinced either something is incredibly fishy with steam numbers or people are so desperate to chase fomo that anything thats on the new releases page gets consoomed now
The gaming market has shrunk since covid, so why are even mediocre games doing big numbers?
This type of games are some of the most braindead shit there is, just pop in and move your character while you listen some music or your favorite e celeb with no worries since you don't even have to aim to attack
Regular DRG sucks Fatshark's wiener. Why would someone bother with it? They didn't even remove the mosy annoying aspect of that genre - disabling enemies that need to be attacked by your allies to let you go.
>you vill not receive ze updates for ze good game >you VILL play ze spinoffs that aren't the same genre
TF2, DRG. two great games abandoned by their developers for moronic reasons that will outlive whatever slop is produced by their company in future.
Never understood the hype for DRG. Maybe I got into it too late but seasons sucks and playing with randoms is near impossible. The traversal tools are all clunky, UI is trash, mine depositing is just an annoyance. Rock and stone sperg is annoying as frick, too.

>more casual than DRG
Jesus...
you clearly never dealt with the sweatlords in high level lobbies that insta-kick you the second you make a mistake
Asmongold played it on stream yesterday and liked it
he's never played the original DRG
much more casual game and Deep Rock itself has been basically forgotten about for 2 years now.
>it's a vampire survivors clone
what.

Oh wow, I'm glad you pointed it out. I would have called it a diablo clone. Silly me and my boomer references.
Diablo is not an idle game
it happens every single time an indie game becomes successful
and I'm so fricking tired of it. Please be original, deGanker bros
I'm still amazed these games don't have the Vampire Survivorslike tag on Steam. "Action Roguelike" is what they're called which is stupid.
>"Action Roguelike"
It doesnt seem to be either.
What's wrong with auto shooter?
That sounds good too. Anything but "Action Roguelike" or "Bullet Heaven".
Souslike and Metroidvania at least pay homage to what inspired them.
there's a bullet heaven tag thoughover
And yet gods and monsters had to change it's name to immortals phenyx rising over an entirely different industry claiming they owned the word monster
Such a fricking bad name rework also, despite having enjoyed the game more than BotW

that's seriously really sad
what the frick is wrong with fricking morons these days
Casuals only play the latest AAA shit or the most shittiest, non games possible.
Goes to show how casual morons love the taste of shit, they just cannot stop gravitating the worst possible iterations of any game ever.
>a fricking vampire survivors clone instead of a prequel with a bigger focus on melee with goblins/demons and experimental repeating black powder guns
Is this another Darkest Dungeon moment where the devs just got lucky when making a game and have no idea what to do afterwards?
The game is made by an entirely different developer. The devs of Deep Rock either cut and run or are working on something.
Nobody asked about that rogue-like shit
Also they killed drg with that shitty latest season.
so the other game is dead?

frick man it feels like i'm back in 2017 all over again
Have you been on the app store/play store in the last decade?
survivor clones are fun 20 min long arcade style games. and you are all homosexuals. not everything needs trannies fricking each other for the story or skinner box gacha games or competitive multiplayer. some people just wanna move a guy around on the screen and avoid the enemies, ya know like a fricking video game.
its a casual $10 high quality game from a pre-established franchise, of course its gonna do well
These fake engagement numbers need to fu k off already. Every game after bg3 is trying too hard to get those numbers, you can tell theyreir fake as shit
Yall sound like you're fun at parties.
thanks, zoomie
>Boot up Deep Rock.
>Remember rockpox is still a thing.
>Quit game.
You can turn it off. I have, and haven't seen it in a long time.
Zero servers if you turn it off tho
Unironically what killed the game for me, i'd rather have a simple horde mode with no gimmicks than this shit
>wasting double the ammo because they tank more
>trying to pray that the meteriots don't fall and end up killing my entire team
>forced to clean the rockpox on every mission
>forced to spend more hours if your primary mission is near a rockpox infested zone.
Turn. It. Off. You have no reason not to have your battle pass at level 100 by now.
Disgusting

The rockpox cancer wasn't enough to tip you off?
Well, yeah
But even more so
Anons still think its the main homosexuals that are working on this.

>capitalize on trend
>it works????
It's $5 moron.
>Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a single player survivor-like auto-shooter.
No wonder they abandoned the original game
It's so fricking over

Is that srsly the all time player peak of drg? I thought it wouldve been way higher. I played this for 600 hours...
I liked Vermintide 2 more.
I switched to vt2 too.
Babby mode game attached to a casual IP.
