To say they “finished” a game that had no definite stopping point for development but is left with numerous requests unanswered is the kind of cucked, bootlicking behavior that people want to call out. It’s the equivalent of stringing out a TV show for double the seasons it deserved to last for but instead of working towards a satisfying conclusion you just shove in more unresolved plot points and then leave it all on a big middle finger cliffhanger.
I'd say you should see the game as having enjoyed however many hours you did for whatever you paid for it, if that seems like an acceptable ratio it's fine.

This isn't a finished game. They've been promoting DRG as a live service game with continuous new content. Problem is that it hasn't that much content to deal with. You have few mission types, deep dive which is 3 missions in row and that's it. The only meaningful stuff they added was robot event which lasted the entire 2 seasons and there's rockpox which nobody asked for and nobody like's it, and we're stuck with it unless devs "maybe" release a new season, but they've made it clear that it won't be groundbreaking so in the long run this game will become bored very soon, even with randomly generated maps.
Also, it is unbalanced in many ways, most weapons are either too op or too weak for higher hazards which most people play because below hazard 4 game plays itself. Only few perks are useful, the rest are just for check in and never use it again. OC's are a big gamble, one is significantly boosting weapon, but another is just plain downgrade and earning them is a chore so it's just easier to abuse the system to get what you want.
Deep rock doesn't have enough content to be considered complete, it has too much stuff that isn't properly balanced, so if anyone who already poured dozens of hours are starting to be dependent on mods to keep gameplay at least a bit more interesting.

Also, unlocking Overclocks is a pain in the fricking ass. You have to get a weapon to Level 12 (or 15? Its been a while) to unlock the ability to gain overclocks for only that weapon.

i think the issue is lack of new coop shooters. Payday 3 failed. l4d2 and killing floor 2 are old news. there are literally no other coop shooters on the market so i think this drg backlash kind of stems from this stagnation.
it also doesnt help that every drg "season" is just the same as the last one but with a slight new filter
