If anything, it would make more sense thematically as it reinforces that Kris is not the player (who you kind of have to use non gendered terms for because you can't predict who is playing your game). I really don't get how people liked her in Chapter 1. She spends most of the game as both an in-game nuisance and a in-story nuisance.
First I saw footage of chapter 1 in 2018, the scene where she grabs Kris by the shoulder to threaten him, accompanied by the heavy guitar sounds... made me think I was watching a fangame, and I had to stop the playthrough out of sheer cringe.
Only later founding out it was actually a real game.
I think she is fine in chapter 2 tho.
But like... basically an entirely different character.
I didn't have a problem with how she was in chapter 1, even from her first appearance I thought of her as someone insecure putting on an edgy appearance.
If I met her in real life I wouldn't like her, but as a character she's enjoyable, and I find her development from chapter 1 to 2 make sense, she's comfortable with Kris and in her element, went through a journey with Lancer learning to be more friendly, and still has her fight gay moments when she blow up against Queen in the opening area of the Dark World.
