The fact that the line breaks aren't near as sporadic and the use of commas is giving me hope again. The other secret bosses also typed in all caps. I felt so much dread initially believing the letter was from Gaster.

Nah. Someone (presumably Gaster) gave Spamton meta-knowledge which let him send personal-ads to lighteners. Then he left, for some unknown reason.

If you ask me this directly mirrors how Gaster introduces you to Deltarune only for someone else to cut you off from him.
That would mean that the person in that valentines card is Gaster, but it doesn't seem like that's the case. Gaster is definitely still involved in Spamton's story, but he doesn't necessarily have to be the one that helped him.

So, it happened AGAIN. We can blame the winter break, we can blame Toby's wrists, we can blame our own expectations but the truth is it's simply not enough. Development, determination you name it, it all stinks.
Don't get me wrong, I still have full faith in Toby and the Deltarune team, but MASSIVE changes are desperately needed in their work ethics in preparation for the game's release. Otherwise I'm not very optimistic about it coming out this year, or any other year for that matter. Not at this pace. What do you think, Ganker? Will it even come out next year? I'm simply not going to die until I see the ending to this damn game, so whether the game gets finished or not it's a win/win for me.
As mentioned last time, the team is now mainly focusing on Chapter 4, with some minor work being done on Chapter 5. We've set an internal deadline for ourselves regarding Chapter 4 and our new producer is going to help us make the sweet sweet moves we need to make to meet it. If you're dying from the wait for the next deltarune chapters, and you haven't played it already, I would recommend giving Chrono Trigger a playthrough.
It's one of Toby's biggest influences from what I can tell, and after finishing it and sitting on it for some time I think it's one of the best games I've ever played.
It's a classic RPG but a lot of zoomers haven't played it and it's aged very gracefully.

That is dumb, a complaint I'd like to imagine is at least somewhat common is that the Party Dojo is currently lacking on all fronts, challenge, challenges, rewards, replayability, etc. If you want to fight Spamton Neo again, you have to save just before the fight and that'll take up 2 whole files if you want both available.

My initial thoughts on the Unknown letter:
Despite his formality, there's always been a bizarrely intimate undertone to Gaster's interactions with the audience. Weird as it is, this kind of overly familiar letter on Valentine's Day isn't enough to immediately disqualify it as being from Gaster (or a fragment) in my book.
Still, this optimistic view of love and faith that wouldn't be out of place from a schoolgirl is terrifying if coming from an unfamiliar adult male mad scientist. Sweet, but very odd.
My Japanese is trash, but the JP letter came across to me as more obviously sinister than the EN.
Don't let the lack of kanji fool you, the grammar is solid and suggests a literate character. Who the frick would use さにあらず? Insane. Still, not as formal as we've come to expect from Wingdings.
Hard to get a read on gender and age. I'd say an adult, or at least someone with adult intelligence. The alphabet usage and tone therefore implied is completely unlike Gaster's other writings. Pronouns are appropriate for his situation.
The most striking point is "I want to become your strength!" (which sounds like a normal mushy Valentine-sy thing to say in JP, but the literal meaning of "I want to become power" is too loaded to be ignored) and that there was someone they wished to become strong for, which makes me think this might be demon Chara related. Emphasis on the "demon". It's not impossible for Chara to have written this, but it doesn't sound exactly like them in JP and definitely not in EN. If nothing else, it certainly encourages thoughts about how Power is a core theme of Deltarune in the same way Determination was to Undertale.
If you're especially paranoid like myself, the part about wearing faces juxtaposed with てんでバラバラ made me think of dismemberment. Reminds me of the True Lab controller disconnect messages.

Why are people that never played Undertale still mad about the blatantly canon route being canon.
All routes are canon, anon. I'd even argue that the intended experience is to do Neutral then Pacifist then Genocide, for three reasons:
1-That's how the soundtrack order goes
2-If you press shift or X five times in the title screen you will be shown your Activity Level. Activity Level A is shown if you've completed a neutral route, B will be shown if you've completed pacifist, and C will be shown if you fought Sans.
3-I think it's just the most interesting way to play it. Once you get to genocide you can finally see another side of the characters you already know. You get to know how the game shifts and sucks all the fun out of itself because you went for the worst possible route just to know what would happpen.

Deltarune is 2 chapters into a story that is at least 7 chapters. Of course there are going to be mysteries set up that won't have a clear answer right now.

The weather duo is foreshadowing that Dess got lost in a snowstorm and the Dreemurr divorce was because Asgore failed to find her.
They're a reflection of how Kris wants his parents to get back together, and the weather part is because a day of particularly bad weather is what ultimately led to the divorce.
