The series forever cursed to chase Undertale's dragon in recreating moments of legitimate emotion and intrigue. Sadly, it will never come close because it cannot stand on its own two feet, constantly relying on elbow-nudging moments of "HEY REMEMBER THIS FROM UNDERTALE WELL NOW IT'S SLIIIIIIIIIIIGHTLY DIFFERENT". AUs are one of the laziest form of world-building in fiction, which makes it no wonder why it caught on in these horrid fandoms, but Toby should have been better than that.

Literally the only thing that even remotely hinted towards undertale was Sans' dialogue, and even then, that's debatable.
I'm honestly not really liking the story that much in Deltarune, the only plot line i'm truly invested in is the schizos, which are also the best part of the game in terms of gameplay, so i'll be happy with just 5 more kino boss fights
people act like he was divinely inspired but honestly I don't think it bodes well.
There's a good chance everything will be incoherent, disappointing, and full of references to homestuck and anime memes
I recently replayed Undertale and I was amazed how quickly the writing drops off when you go from neutral route to pacifist. Seeing asgore start talking about anime made me want to fricking alt f4.
