Was Toby Fox always such a bad writer, or did I just grow out of his style? Almost quit Ch2 because the Tumblr-esque dialogue and funny faces were getting too painful.
before the snowgrave route was discovered I thought so too, maybe he is doing those silly things in the main routes to keep normies appeased while the hidden routes are more serious for everyone else that actually cares at least I hope so

Too drawn out. The humor would have been fine if we had a serious villain to contrast it, but Queen was also just nonstop quirky dialogue. I don't need every single sentence to be a joke, give me some time to just enjoy things naturally.
Spamton is remembered for comedy, but he was significantly more unnerving when he actually got in fights
His shop is a bit disturbing too. He's funny but also clearly tragic.
Spamton was Toby firing on all cylinders. Funny character with a dark nature, all leading up to some edgekino.
My favorite part was the playtesters hating/fearing him, and Toby still kept him in.

I really loved undertale, and I understand why people like deltarune but I can't really get behind it as much.
Deltarune just feels like its going for nothing but shock value with no real point behind it, and that might change as the new stuff comes out but its how I feel rn. I feel so out of touch when people get behind spamton so hard
No, he is very much a one-trick pony and it showed especially in ch2. Undertale had subversion of expectations and charm on its side plus it was pretty short and simple. With Deltarune we pretty much know what to expect and it seems Toby realizes it too but the only thing he can do is either get more wacky or more spooky, if not both.

Susie went from an angry neglected bully genuinely trying to open up and realizing she doesn't have to be alone to a wacky sidekick that swears in a lolfunny way in the span of one night, it felt very off
I think there's something to the characters acting like the time between "Yesterday" and "Today" feeling like years.
I think Chapter 1 to Chapter 2 in general is very weird. Like compare Jevil to Spamton in terms of relevance in the main campaign. I really hope Toby and crew eventually refurbish it so it's more consistent + has it's Snowgrave path
Chapter 2 really did feel off. I almost dropped it after the music guys and Noelle's part. But finding out about the hidden route got me interested again.

In his defense, the jannies do kind of keep more of an eye on this game because it's notorious for attracting shitposting morons into signing their permission slip for the field trip.

Why do people act like the Weird route is "more interesting"? It's almost devoid of any real content other than pretty heavily stating it's bad and going to have bad results.
Do people just act like it's cooler because it's the alternate route?
Sure there's the Spam Mansion, but even that's just a cut down version of the normal Mansion devoid of content, and the final boss is just replaced with an easier version of the secret boss.
