Denuvo on consoles is here

>“By blocking unauthorised emulations on PC, studios are able to increase their revenue during the game launch window, which is the most important period for monetisation. The Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection will ensure that anyone wishing to play the game has to buy a legitimate copy.
>“As with all other Denuvo solutions, the technology integrates seamlessly into the build toolchain with no impact on the gaming experience. It then allows for the insertion of checks into the code, which blocks gameplay on emulators.”

Get fricked pirates. Buy your god damn video games like everybody else. These people work their asses off and deserve to get paid.

Don't buy Denuvo shit, having Denuvo on Switch now is fricking moronic since every 'good' game is out, and always pirate Denuvo shit once it's cracked. It's not fricking hard. Dumb Black folk need to have the latest games when you have 40 years worth of shit to keep you occupied until it gets cracked or bypassed in a emulator.

I think Nintendo will have to put protected by Denuvo on the eShop page and the box. And they'll have to say requires internet connection. You're gonna regret that when the next gen arrives and console are even less retro compatible. They kill an entire catalogue of games just so they can pay indians to barely remaster them to sell them back to you at full price. Most of the PS3 and PS2 library would be lost without emulation. You can play more first party Sony games on PC that you can in their current console.
            You're part of the problem.

For me I will buy the next system anyway but I would rather play on PC with better performance than a system with worse performance. Of course if the game is fine as is then it's alright but games like SMTV are just better on PC and trying to remove the ability to play games on PC isn't something I approve of.

They get paid. Following your logic piracy takes from the suits and shareholders not the devs; there is no plus for copies sold or anything like that on big studios. And in any case that logic is incorrect. People that pirate games are not potential costumers. If they can`t pirate the game they move on to the next one. They were never going to buy the game to begin with, let alone a console.

I fricking hate this shitty tablet.

like MHGU, it runs at better resolution, with shorter loading times on Ryujinx. But I still use my shitch for less demanding games like slay the spire and stuff that will probably never be perfectly emulated due shader compilation shit.

But you're wrong if you think consumers are winning anything by this.
Enjoy longer loading times and possibly lower performance on the already shit tablet.

afaik PC denuvo requires you to connect to the internet at least once (something the Switch does not do - and probably won't 7 years into its life cycle) and the authentication is done using your highly unique PC hardware setup, which doesn't apply to consoles. i don't see why it wouldn't be plausible to simply check for any traces of emulation. hackable Switch models only make up a fraction of systems sold anyway, nobody gives a shit about those.

What about Pirated Switch with Atmosphere CFW?

      Anonymous

Denuvo will render that pointless, apart from games that don't have Denuvo included. You'd still need to validate your game via an internet connection to the Denuvo and Nintendo Servers.

        Anonymous

Does that mean "Nintendo Switch 2" hacking is already in trouble for games with Denuvo?
Damn this doesn't sound good. Moreover the performance issue with Denuvo.

          Anonymous

Yes, the same exploits were patched out with Lite and new ones had to be found iirc. Same will happen with Switch 2, new firmware, disincentivizing to even try and exploit in the first place because Denuvo exists. If you want a good example, look around for Denuvo cracks for PC.

I feel like the performance aspect is the least of the problems that are going to be introduced, but definitely the most widespread.

kek, this will absolutely destroy Denuvo's reputation because now they'll be a scapegoat for shitty switch performance rather than the hardware. On PC there's the excuse of everyone having a different rig with different components, but when the hardware is uniform, then it becomes much easier to pin blame solely on DRM.

If Nintendo wants to combat piracy, put some real fricking hardware in your console. It doesn't even need to be that powerful. Something around One S or above (4-6TFlops) would keep emulation at bay for about 10 years.

Perfect emulation would be impossible to detect, at least in a manner that still allowed the console to function enough to play the games

Denuvo works by checking for inaccuracies in the emulation and stopping the executable when it's detected. Fixing the inaccuracies is a guaranteed way to disable it. Can't say how likely this is, it's probably more likely that the code is identified and patched out

I hate that i have to agree on this comment... heck that's literally all Nintendo have to even do, but nooo they went the moronic Denuvo route.

There is a basic circumvention that can be implemented by pirates which is just to use a physical switch's key to allow them to connect online, but this requires for the pirate to actually own a switch.

WII U emulation used this approach iirc to allow you to actually connect online to Nintendo servers.

Empress will be the only one to crack denuvo if switch 2 uses it. Nobody else will come along in some fantasy to crack it or else they would have. Best hope for pirates is that empress has already made a tool for cracking denuvo.

  141. 10 months ago
    Anonymous

What will this even effect? This is for titles that are protected by Denuvo on PC already. You're really going to try to emulate a Switch to circumvent that? For a shitty emulated tablet experience? I'd rather do just about anything else. Nintendo first party won't use it, and you can keep using a hacked tablet. I have no idea who this is supposed to effect or how. It's just Denuvo being israeli. Big shock.
