Both true, i still enjoyed it though. But i wasnt as wowed by it as some zoomies would be whove barely played or watched any media. The part where she pulls her arms off was literally traced from a ghost in the shell scene and it came out of nowhere. The devs probably just thought it looks cool (it does) but come the frick on

i think this game does enough to be it's own thing that a couple of monogatari screen flashes and other anime scene stuff is fine. even on it's graphics there isn't many games that even look like signalis
As a artsy indie game with some light gameplay mechanic, it succeeds. But goddamnit, I hate complicated obtuse storytelling to hide the true story of the game. The fact that playtime influences ending and you get the "bad" ending if you play it like a pro is just a frick you. Eventually I did read like some explanation on the story and all I can say is that the white haired girl is a selfish prick and a pussy for not killing herself, instead killing everyone in their home world. It's a poignant and miserable ending and it sucks. SH2 did a better job of horror and actually had something to say, which this game copies a lot.
If you want a better horror game that is cheap and plays like an actual game, get Empty Shell on steam. The whole time playing I would get sweaty from hearing machine noise.
I got the one where she backed down from killing the white haired girl. Apparently I was finishing the game too fast and should have taken things a lot longer. SH2 did this too but in SH2 you need to go out of your way to get some of the weird ending. I think the good ending was the one where she fulfill her promise and killed ariane, that and the secret ending with the flowers

theres a lot of criterias for the endings, as far as i know you can also get promise if you killed a frick ton of enemies even if you play the game fast.
