Servicable voicework is fine but bad voicework is a detriment, most recent example being the AC6 english dub
It's a detriment so minor that it has almost no effect on most games' success. You'd have to be something like Xenoblade with a heavy story focus for people to give a shit about bad VA work and even then it still sold well.
I'm not saying current AI is good enough to just replace everyone yet, but VAs really just don't have a moat against it at all once it improves because gamers don't care about them like they do movie actors.

Voice acting as an industry has been a ripe cesspit of nepotism and backroom wienersucking for years now, if not from its inception. Every single one of those people who actually got enough gigs to make it into their livelihood deserves to be thrown out on the street, and amateurs working on passion projects aren't going to be affected by this at all.
