i find most players these days like to open mic which is super distracting compared to being in a comfy push to talk discord
with open mics you get people eating into the mic, dogs barking, babies crying
i wanna focus on the game, the footsteps, the music, the callouts
i don't want distractions, i wanna win more than be subject to noise from other players
if you rely on in-game voice chat as a be all end all for winning then it's a crutch most of the time
the only time i would say otherwise is if you're in a super high rank style game where other players are beyond all that garbage i listed above

People have real friends, largely born of circumstance such as growing up together, workplace friends etc. Of course a lot of those relationships can spark from common interests, but many times the common thread is the shared experiences you have. I am extremely different in many ways to most of my irl social circle, and in a lot of ways that's what makes it fun, but that doesn't make them a replacement for online communities I'm a part of.
Being part of a community of a shared interest online is a great experience, and it's worthless, socially moronic homosexuals like you who are so proud of the two irl friends you made after years of autism therapy who completely destroy the great online communities that have come about.

The problem was they were issuing bans to users then refusing to work with channel admins to help them better understand how to curate their communities, which was driving the channels themselves off of Discord. I can't tolerate admins who ban and do so with no interest in working with users who want to do better and maintain a high status quo. Banning people then refusing to discuss it is just power-tripping and authoritarian (you WILL submit without question), so frick that.

Discord itself is great for talking to small friendgroups, but is absolute shit when it comes to larger communities. This isn't even a "haha trannies everywhere = bad" thing. The problem with big servers is that everyone already has their little groups and injokes, it's not as easy to start shooting the shit with people.

I played some online fan game and it got so bad in the last few years that I could only manage to download the client from the website. Everything else has been hidden on Discord, only years old shit on the website. Can't even see changelogs.
Honestly, I isolated myself. I wasn't doing well and stopped talking to people. I was just no longer in the loop and they moved on, beyond that I have no idea.
I owned the server technically, but there were several people with complete and full admin control.

Most chat rooms' purpose is not long term discussion, unless the channel is specifically made for that. And for specific information, every game has its wiki now, and there's plenty of anything in other websites. What you can do, is turn on notifications on certain update channels so you're informed when a dev makes an announcement or something. It's pretty useful.
But (and this is a secret most people ignore, so be quiet about it), if you need information and can't find it anywhere, you can always try asking other people.

People have real friends, largely born of circumstance such as growing up together, workplace friends etc. Of course a lot of those relationships can spark from common interests, but many times the common thread is the shared experiences you have. I am extremely different in many ways to most of my irl social circle, and in a lot of ways that's what makes it fun, but that doesn't make them a replacement for online communities I'm a part of.
Being part of a community of a shared interest online is a great experience, and it's worthless, socially moronic homosexuals like you who are so proud of the two irl friends you made after years of autism therapy who completely destroy the great online communities that have come about.

The problem was they were issuing bans to users then refusing to work with channel admins to help them better understand how to curate their communities, which was driving the channels themselves off of Discord. Banning people then refusing to discuss it is just power-tripping and authoritarian (you WILL submit without question), so frick that.

Discord itself is great for talking to small friendgroups, but is absolute shit when it comes to larger communities. This isn't even a "haha trannies everywhere = bad" thing. The problem with big servers is that everyone already has their little groups and injokes, it's not as easy to start shooting the shit with people.

And for specific information, every game has its wiki now, and there's plenty of anything in other websites. What you can do, is turn on notifications on certain update channels so you're informed when a dev makes an announcement or something. It's pretty useful.
But (and this is a secret most people ignore, so be quiet about it), if you need information and can't find it anywhere, you can always try asking other people.
