I just can't get over how good the level design was in Deus Ex. My only gripe with he game is that there isn't an extended version of sticking with UNATCO. No real reward for being UNATCO's lapdog (making Gunther/Anna/Manderley happy).

Supposedly that was intended to be an alternate path through the game, but was cut. There was a lot that was cut, there was supposed to be a White House level, and a moon base level. I think some of the moon base ended up being turned into Area 51, IIRC.
Great game, it's on my list to replay sometime this year.
Shame.
Where'd you hear that? The aliens are from the moon then, I suppose?
Been a long time, don’t remember where. Some retrospectives/interviews with the devs.
I believe the greys are radioactive and genetically engineered monkeys, not aliens
iirc the greys are based on DNA recovered at the Roswell crash site from dead aliens, but they're raised in cages like animals so they're basically beasts
lol didnt they get investigated by the secret service over the white house level? also the moon base iirc was repurposed into the ocean lab... possibly cos all they had to do was make the windows blue and didnt have to design any new assets?
In real life, aliens are actually demons. They’re not really aliens.
Yeah ocean lab, that’s what I meant. I think you’re right. I was debating if it was ocean lab or Area 51 in my post. Been a while.
mankind divided is better
This isn't even bait, this is a cry for attention. I'm sorry you're having a bad day, anon. *hugs*
i've thought about it in good faith, and you're wrong. it's just good old fashioned contentious behavior with a desire to vomit my opinion somewhere pseudo-relevant.
Do you have a single fact to back that up?
no, you're just going to have to exercise some faith.
You've got to have God clearance to... to know... The nanites can be programmed
for exponential growth.
The only two I've played in the series have been deus ex and human revolution. I haven't played mankind divided so correct me if I'm off here with my assumptions of how it is, basing it mostly on HR.
Honestly, the gameplay has not aged well at all in the original from my memories of my last replay. HR is just a much better game in that regard, mechanically, and the level design isn't too shabby either. But I hate how they toned down the plot and setting.
The original's
>you are in a world where every single conspiracy is actually not a conspiracy and 100% going on right now in the shadows as we speak
kind of feeling felt so much more memorable than HR's more grounded plot and world. I really wish they had updated the gameplay like they did but stuck to the very hammy balls to the wall kind of writing that made the first game so unique.
More of Deus Ex was true than most people think. About all it got wrong were the gas prices. ~~*Warren Spector*~~ said that he wouldn’t make a game like Deus Ex today because it might contribute to people believing the “wrong things”. Game flew too close to the sun.
i don't remember any of the story or quests from mankind divided. what i do remember is excellent exploration and gameplay. there's some stuff about technology that's relevant to now, but it's not like people talk about with the deus ex illuminati shit. i do remember the writing being good, i just don't particularly care about stories too much, and often forget stuff, so i'm not trying to say it's bad or anything, just that i don't remember much. i also streamed a lot of it and chatted.
md is a much better game than hr. my opinion is that deus ex level design sucks, and the enemies suck. i think it's super overrated via memes (dawkins style memes) and nostalgia.
hr level design starts out pretty good, then turns into uninspired randomness when you get to china.
md level design is consistently great. i didn't feel like i was wasting my time with developer-forced bullshit or useless padding. i avoided mankind divided for years, because of the technical issues and the hate it got. played & beat it for the first time in 2022, and it's in my personal flavor top 5.
it's a shame MD ends 70% of the way thru
>anything besides the first Deus Ex game
>better
The original is clunky as hell. For me is DE:HR
>game won't let me press x to cover and be invincible
you have to be 18 to post here
First off, taking cover doesn't make you invincible especially when you don't play on easy, homosexual. Second, the first game is jank AF in terms of dealing damage and determining when you're in stealth and when enemies can see you to say nothing of their pathing. Nostalgia gays are delusional
>determining when you're in stealth and when enemies can see you to say nothing of their pathing.
100% a skill issue
repent zoomer
>jank
opinion discarded
>what if we made the radio guy
>a literal prick
Why would anyone name their kid Prick (Prichard) instead of Rick (Richard)?
Definite zoomer homosexual, go play fortnite or something
Have to play it someday. What's more fun? Going with stealth build or treating the game as shooter?
Don't. It is way out of your league and you should stick to gay jarpigs or whatever isometric gay sex sim you gays lap up these days.
moronic Black personhomosexuals.
Stealth shooter. Going non-lethal is pretty fun for most of the game too but eventually enemies show up that resist the baton and prod too much for it to keep being fun. Taking people out from the shadows with a proper weapon never stops being fun.
>Have to play it someday. What's more fun? Going with stealth build or treating the game as shooter?
You will be disappointed if you play it as a straight shooter, due to the enemy AI. You don't need to play a stealthy hacker vent ninja if you don't want to, but it's probably the most fun to play, and you'll get more out of the game being able to read files on computers, etc. Personally, I always played as a non-lethal humanitarian in the early game. Stick with the prod. A non-lethal takedown is a silent takedown. Listen to your brother, he gives you wise advice. You're police, not a nano-assassin, and your enemies are your fellow Americans who may have legitimate grievances. Usually around the second 2/3rds or half of the game or whatever I'd switch to lethal, once you're fighting MJ-12 mercenaries and such
Also always take the GEP gun, it is the universal lockpick.
Is there any reason not to play Revision?
Is that the mod that "improves" textures by making them look decidedly different and sometimes even just worse, somehow? Or the one that "streamlines" some thing or another, because a bunch of chincord homosexuals obviously know better than Spector and the rest of the original team?
I dunno, it looks like it should make textures better, based on what I'm hearing, but they all look the exact same to me as in the original.
It's not something I installed myself, it came with the game installation automatically on GOG. As far as I can tell all it does is add cheevos.
UNATCO?
Savage
It's been 24 years and this game still hasn't been topped.
While I wouldn’t say it’s better than Deus ex, if you like the genre, I really enjoyed the 2017 Prey. An homage to system shock. Lot of fun.
The game gets kinda boring after Honk Honkg.
Poser confirmed.
Proofs?
it gets boring DURING hong kong (non sequitur sword bullshit) and picks up again after (scuttling the superfreighter)
Best music though.
>that first time you enter Versalife
Still it never ceases to be great
I really liked the part where you go to the French club and there is a 3 face mirror going all the way to the roof. I don't see shit like that often anywhere, games or irl.
I wanted JC to hit up the ladies when I played it as a horny 12 year old.
