The best part is their games are pretty much the same since the PS2 days and they are dubbed 'AAA' now when they haven't changed. They are decidedly AA, the rest of the industry has slumped so hard a good consistent AA dev looks like AAA goldstar standard to aspire to.
This is some extreme tier of moronation to consider Elden Ring AA
The entire dev studio is AA. All of their games are AA.
AAA studios tend to have enough capital to also publish games themselves.
fromsoft makes heavy use of outsourced studios and anyone taking these >journo articles seriously is legitimately moronic
I'm talking non-white moronation levels here, it's that low

That's literally the biggest difference between Japan and the west.
Japanese companies by law cannot fire people arbitrarily. They can't do mass layoffs to increase shareholder value like in the west. They can only fire people if they have a good reason. Thus employees are more likely to stay at a company long term, and the companies retain and develop talent. Western companies suffer from constant talent drain because they treat employees like dirt and give them no reason to be loyal.
God, imagine actually living in a real country with a sense of kinship and laws that serve the people instead of in a glorified economic zone that serves nothing but suits
AAA or AA has nothing to do with the actual game, it's the budget that went into the project and marketing. ER is definitively AAA though, because of its hefty marketing campaign from Namco.
From isn't ashamed of reusing assets, which massively cuts down on dev costs and time. Compare that to Naughty Dog and Insomniac which completely remake assets in between releases for no reason since the games would sell anyway. Sony's current CEO even called out first party devs because the perfectionist culture people like Niel Druckman have spread has been so damn costly, and it's partly why this year is so fricking sparse.
There is zero reason why Spiderman needed a new model and animations for Spiderman 2. I'm talking about Spidey in his suit, obviously, we all know why they made him look like Tom Holland.
Doing it because IT'S HURDURR TRIPLE EYYY is moronic, Spiderman would sell regardless if the gameplay is tight because the character is second only to Batman in terms of popularity.
The way they work with publishers and let them publish probably helps too. They can focus solely on development.
Bandai and Activision are both known as bad publishers, they don't do anything 'bad' when dealing with from software games. You wouldn't even remember that Activision published a game of theirs unless someone reminded you.
Well they've been making the same game for a decade so some things tend to stick. Perhaps soon they'll achieve the same level of efficiency at copy pasting as even the likes of RGG Studio.
>basic meritocratic structure >no DEI/ESG nonsense putting idiotic political ideals over making good games
This what not going woke and not going broke looks like.
Because they're naive, not woke. They probably just followed all the other jap dev's example. I refuse to be bothered by A/B. It's terrible and I hate it but it's a non-issue if that's as deep as it goes.
>talent >making mmo open world slop with awful purposely frustrating combat >little kids eat that shit up like they were sucking lemons and pretend they're big boys because the game's engine and rules frick you for no reason to hide the inept game design and programming skills of the fromsoft dev team
I don't get it. Enemies can hit you through walls. They literally have no clip. But your weapons bounce off walls? Enemies can react instantly to you using a potion but you're input locked and animation locked? The game isn't good. If you removed input and animation lock from the game it'd be apparent how bad at game design and boss design fromturd is.
It's crunch. What they mean is crunch. If you make a beloved enough franchise you can get away with it. Jurnos will even run defence for you playing dumb and writing moronic articles like this one.
copy and pasting and never evolving past a stale formula that made you popular? Color me surprised?
lmao, they made bloodborne, sekiro and ac 6 which all deviated from their formula at the time
Ubisoft said the same shit for their awful quality games.
Fromsoft games aren't AAA.
This is some extreme tier of moronation to consider Elden Ring AA
The entire dev studio is AA. All of their games are AA.
AAA studios tend to have enough capital to also publish games themselves.
So The Witcher 3 is also AA by that logic
I've played their games since dumb teenaged me thought they were Agetec. They haven't changed since then, the industry has.
GTA is AAA, ER is not even close
>GTA is AAA
In name only
How so? Name a AAA game with more content or polish than GTA
>content
Isn't it past your bedtime?
fromsoft makes heavy use of outsourced studios and anyone taking these >journo articles seriously is legitimately moronic

You are trying too hard to be agitative. You need to learn into subtlety.
No, CDP owns GOG they literally are a game distributor. That is how they could get the money to do 2077. That is like saying Valve is AA.
>Fromsoft games aren't AAA.
Elden Ring is definitely AAA.
Dumb hipsters.
AAA stands for All trAnnies and gays. So FROM games aren't AAA games
The cope in these threads is always so funny. FromSoft really mindbroke a lot of people to cause this much seethe over some vidya.
The best part is their games are pretty much the same since the PS2 days and they are dubbed 'AAA' now when they haven't changed. They are decidedly AA, the rest of the industry has slumped so hard a good consistent AA dev looks like AAA goldstar standard to aspire to.

don't waste money on dumb dei stuff actually spend that money making the game better
>elden ring is heralded as one of the biggest and most complex open world games to date
>morons on Ganker call it double AA
This places amazes with the level of stupidity
>one of the biggest and most complex open world games to date
KEK, it's not even bait at this point
Yeah I agree with that anon it may be the greatest of them all
How is it complex?
And how!
AAA or AA has nothing to do with the actual game, it's the budget that went into the project and marketing. ER is definitively AAA though, because of its hefty marketing campaign from Namco.
>AAA or AA has nothing to do with the actual game
What the frick am I reading, are you serious?
Yes. AAA refers to the size of the game's budget. The actual quality of the game or who makes it isn't what determines what a AAA game is.
From isn't ashamed of reusing assets, which massively cuts down on dev costs and time. thats why they are called AAA you dumb Black person. Because they can spend time polishing it. From games come always unfinished.

>fromsoft
>talent
>Underpaid employees
>Massive crunch
Frick em'
Not my problem, I play their games, not work on them.
Well they've been making the same game for a decade so some things tend to stick. Perhaps soon they'll achieve the same level of efficiency at copy pasting as even the likes of RGG Studio.
How badly has the West fallen? and how long until total Westoid collapse?
>basic meritocratic structure
>no DEI/ESG nonsense putting idiotic political ideals over making good games
This what not going woke and not going broke looks like.
>This what not going woke
ER has Type A/B crap when none of the previous Souls did.
Because they're naive, not woke. They probably just followed all the other jap dev's example. I refuse to be bothered by A/B. It's terrible and I hate it but it's a non-issue if that's as deep as it goes.

Because all their games are the same game and also outsourcing thats how they release games so often.
Souls games are the worst thing to happen to gaming.
>doesn't hire indians
it's that shrimple
although they are still dogshit at making ports and non-dogshit UIs
lmao there's a ton of indian credits in elden ring
Aren't they outsourced to produce bog standard assets like rocks, flowers and other assets?
yeah but they're not diverse enough where are all the women?
Nowhere, considering Japs don't reproduce anymore
It's crunch. What they mean is crunch. If you make a beloved enough franchise you can get away with it. Jurnos will even run defence for you playing dumb and writing moronic articles like this one.
I remember articles flying around about FromSoftware severely underpaying people and also the aforementioned crunch, ye.
How shitty do you have to be to mistreat people let alone fail to make a good game on par with other AAA studios that did the same thing alone?
No you don't understand! We have to fire all the talent to make sure the line goes up! Stop being antisemitic and think of the shareholders!
Shareholder Primacy was a mistake.
