devil may cry 6?

If Itsuno ever does a "Dante and Vergil" in hell a la the Divine Comedy, would it be a very Dante-centric game again? Would he do some introspection and realize his dismissive, avoidant nature and his inability to settle down or commit?

Might be great, but I don't know that anyone in Itsuno's team has ever read the Comedy.

DMC is not DMC without Dante and Vergil

        >and Vergil
Arguably, DMC can drop Vergil. His importance was that he was a family member who died. That's been erased, now he's just... I don't know. Unnecessary. He can't provide anything anymore and should have remained dead. He should have died for good in 5.

          >He can't provide anything anymore
You mean apart from fun gameplay, theme songs, and a likeable and cool adversary to Dante? It's DMC, not some story-focused RPG.

          >He can't provide anything anymore and should have remained dead
this is the same mindset that brought us nero in the first place. if you want characters to have interesting arcs and storylines then fricking write one? vergil and dante being semi friendly with each other is something that we've never seen, the sibling rivalry has yet to be dealt with fully. we gotta see it end

Dante and Vergil can get their own spin off, just like how in the Yakuza series kiryu had his own spin off while ichiban took over the main series.

DMC is going to be trash without the old VAs.

Frick you David Hayter. Why did you have to ruin the entire western VA industry?

      why would they recast?

Western VAs currently are in the process of an industry-wide replacement for new, and more importantly, cheaper talent. Your boy Dante, Ken's VA, is already gone in SFVI.

i wouldnt jump to conclusions immediately
reuben was not the first ken and he wont be the last, shit he wasnt even ken until SF4
he has on the other hand been with capcom since 2005 for their mocap and stunt work. he'll be back for DMC6

another thing to add - all of the VAs for DMC characters have been from former power ranger/stuntment talent (incl Johnny Yong Bosch who is Nero, but hes more known for english anime dubs)
I don't think you can get voice/mocap work cheaper than people who used to act for a 90s saturday morning cartoon

Devil May Cry needs Dante to retain its sales numbers. If DMC6 didn't have Dante on the cover, it probably wouldn't sell as much. And Capcom knows this.

I know I would certainly consider not getting it. I'm sure the gameplay would be fun regardless but Dante is the soul of DMC.

Itsuno is probably retiring after DD 2, dude is over 50 and he reached his goal of making DMC V and DD 2.

He said he wants to pass DMC onto newer blood since he feels he's getting too old to keep up. I dunno if he'll retire though. He might downgrade to lower-budget titles instead. Some older devs actually like to do that.

His next game after DD2 is gonna be a Final Fight remake, it was in the Capcom hacks. So yes hes retiring from AAA games.

    DMC: Devils Never Cry

    Sparda Presquel
    >Each mission is a timeskip to a particular event; to the conclusion of Mundus, sealing the Demon world, and meeting Eve.

    >Each mission starts with a similar title screen in the van as DMC 5. Except its Sparda either reading while Eve serves tea, checking his weapon cabinent, or playing with Vergil and Dante.

Ending credits is him fighting off a swarm of demons in the manor, going out in glory.

Secret ending is Lucia retelling the legend to Nero in the DMC van.

Sparda doesn't have Devil Trigger, instead he takes on a human form with amped technqiue to muster his demonic abilities.
