>devs have acknowledged that Criterion is lacking in rewards
>have no plans to change it
This is the exact mentality that is killing the game. The people in charge know cheaters exist, know 120s bursts are dull, know content is shallow, know the reward system is archaic, and yet they simply choose to do nothing. No one is asking for more cotent each patch, we just want more quality inside a given patch.
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
why should the devs give a shit about content that 1% of the playerbase does?
you are lucky it even exists at all, ungrateful pos
I thought criterion was supposed to be midcore? Did these threads lie to me?
Its pretty fricking hard for even experienced raiders. Them not cathering to criterion is ideal. You can do it and people.will respect the prestige (same with heaven on high etc) but we don't want the game to be about that.
definitely savage level mechanics. extreme is easy mode compare to criterion. and this is just the normal criteion, there's still the permadeath savage version
also not to mention how it requires ilvl to even do both, so you need savage level gear to begin with. midcore my ass the people saying that have never touched savage in their life
>I thought criterion was supposed to be midcore?
We all thought so, but the encounter designers are only able to speak savage at this point.
No they only speak in simon says or collective suicide
Even the trash is BRUTAL.
The jump in difficulty is too high.
Normal is baby mode
Criterion is straight up 3 savage tier bosses.
Savage criterion is the above but with harder dps check and shittier rewards
No, the devs seemingly want it to be Savage level of difficulty.
Hello newfriend. You must be new here. Let me explain how generals outside of /vg/ work.
You have to type the name of the game, in this case "FF14" in the subjet line.
That way people who search using CTRL+F in the catalogue can easily find it.
This has been the case since the game came out many years ago.
Alright, enjoy your general outside of /vg/ newfriend.
Putting XIV in the OP auto-sages the thread.
so if I made a /misc/ bait thread that'd get 400 replies in an hour, and put FFXIV on the title, it'd autosage?
Pretty high-chance.
"rewards" are killing video games
if you don't enjoy the game don't play it
This works well for easy/midcore content. I can get groups for old MINE extremes, I even cleared o9s recently which has zero rewards. But when content is hard enough to require multiple sessions, stratcrafting or checking guides, an incentive helps to keep people committed and engaged. I guarantee you that without the titles and shiny weapons the Ultimate raiding engagement would reduce by 50% or more, but that doesn't mean it's bad content.
>MINE old content
a meme, you're still not playing the content as it was designed. You have more stats syncing to 70 from 90 than you did at 70 max level, you still have stronger potencies to make up for lack of buttons. MINE only works on content from the same expansion.
I remember taking RDM into Titan EX when SB dropped, it was broken
The class balance just isn't the same year after year, those fights will never be the same as release
Rewards need to exist in a post 5.3 world because the jobs and fights suck dick. If the game more enjoyable to play beyond drinking with friends and doing moronic shit like queuing into content as classes instead of jobs or turning on your mentor crowns queuing into ifrit EX to trap some unicorn mount farmers while pretending you're also doing the daily then you'd be right.
rewards don't actually fix the problem
your second sentence is complete gibberish so you may just be aggressively agreeing with me, I can't tell
ESL-kun...
>have a stroke while typing
>I know, I'll call him an ESL
Stroke meaning actual illegible typing, like keyboard mash. That's just a run-on sentence which are perfectly legible.
>No one is asking for more cotent each patch,
I am
I want more extremes
I want "hard mode" dungeon remixes again
I want new glams that aren't in the cash shop
How long can you really play a game for?
>MUH 20 YEAR MMO LIFESPAN
Just make FFXVII Online.
Criterion was a whiplash response to the WoWfugee exodus
Change my mind
I thought it was for the raiders who got bored and kept asking for content outside there savage cycle as a thing they could do.
Now that its here they complain it has no rewards for them to do harder content.
Savage raiders should not be allowed to request shit any more right now. EW has catered by far way more to savage troons than any other segment
>savage raids
>2 ultimates
>Shiterion
>savage raids
That's a given
>2 ultimates
but one of them was actually ShB content that had to be delayed
>criterion
Has both a casual and hardcore component like a bunch of other content that has been release before
>variant
lmao
lol even
homie, variant is literally ex dungeon shit, might as well be a a long cutscene.
Raiders don't like Pandaemonium or TOP.
Criterion was a direct response to wowfugees
The npc is even a reference to the goblin streamer they worship
Criterion is a wowfugee abortion
Well good news. Its comming back and you have one more next patch
Enjoy people who like that stuff i guess.
But Yoshi said if you have nothing to do then unsub..
It criterion was any fun, people would be more willing to do it. But as it stands it is *just* 3 more shitty savage fights with an eternal body check since resurrection is disabled. Great job SE, that is all people ever wanted, more fricking DDR fights.
This tbh. It also shows how bad the idea of "savage" 4-man dungeons are when everything is DDR body checks instead of older fight design.
The game is old as frick, ofc they're not gonna change stuff deeply.
What's up with this pose? Why do Japs love it?
tehe~
They would have to fundamentally change the core gameplay to something like Genshin to actually fix the game. It's an ancient game engine for even more ancient type of gameplay. They are really backed up in a corner here.
Turning it into Not-Genshin would kill it over night for everyone but ERP trannies since the gameplay would be dumbed down to the point where it's barely even a game anymore. Gambling addicts should just be banned from vidya discussion entirely
Why'd Hermes do it
Why'd he go full moron
He was the only sane man in a moronic world, thus making him the meta moron for not sticking to convention.
ok hermes, shouldn't you be with asahi in super hell? when'd you get access to a computer
The game is dying again like every expansion, I see.
>Doing trial roulette
>Titan
>snooze
>just trying to get past it real quick
>wife asks me a question
>take eyes off screen for a split second
>eat 5 Weight of the Land and die
now everyone will think I'm a moron what a fricking day
Nobody gives a shit, everyone else is on autopilot mode m8 relax
Holy shit it's over, the only solution is to move worlds and rename tbh
I know of your failure.
what's next anon, LB3ing Nabriales instead of the rift?
What does it matter. No one remembers anyone they see on roulettes anyway. There's no networking, no socialising. You come in, do your duty, throw the tank/healer a commendation, and leave.
No one will give a shit unless you have the burger king crown or an ultimate title, then it will serve to feed their strawman.
>Doing Titan trial from roulette
>Goal is the same as always, complete without taking damage
>Watch this moron eat a stack of Weight of the Land
>Laugh and screencap
>Share with FC
>Everyone agrees this guy is a moron
i forget criterion even exists
that would be too much work and outside of patch production pipeline, please understand
I don't understand the criterion dungeons at all. Why is the casual mode designed to be replayable, but there's no reason to replay the challenging difficulty?
If they made it an optional part of the relic farm, that would be neat.
I wonder if someone will ever ask the question "You are adding so many systems and fights with different rules, why not just make the jobs fun to use everywhere?"
Yoshida probably has 10 different excuses for that specific question so it's no use. Besides, playercount has only increased as they dumbed down jons, no reason to see it as an issue on their end.
>>devs have acknowledged that Criterion is lacking in rewards
>>have no plans to change it
they did? source?
https://www.inverse.com/gaming/ffxiv-variant-criterion-dungeons-interview
>That said, the difficulty of Criterion Dungeons is comparable to an eight-player Savage raid, if not harder, so there were also comments that felt the current rewards aren’t motivating enough to attempt the content.
>The rewards need to be determined very carefully in relation to rewards for other content, but we will continue deliberating on the idea to satisfy as many players as possible.
Typical "we hear you, we don't care" PR response.
I love this woman like you have no idea.
>midshtola
Ameliance is the real best waifu
this but lyse
Made for barbed wolf wiener on the first, Alisaie is the real mans choice
I see you too are a man of taste.
For me, it's Nanamo
>/beckon Wind-up Nanamo
>She climbs up your back to sit on your shoulder
She's adorable
She is my permenant minion for a reason.
For me, it's Wind-up Kan-E
does Wind-up Halone, or Azyema sit on your shoulder as well?
Don't think so, as far as I'm aware she's the only wind-up to do so as a nod to her sitting on Raubahn's shoulder.
Does she even do it again after the introduction cutscene?
what's the point of the pet hotbar?
from what I'm seeing especially on SMN this button does nothing. at least on SCH it turns on/off Embrace (which you'll never want to turn off so it's effectively as pointless)
It's a relic.
you only need place and heel for sch if you need to premove your fairy somewhere for aoe heals. smn used to need sic and place but it's useless now
Fairy on guard mode makes her less responsive when doing dawn, illumination, fey blessing and aetherpact, personally I prefer to make her steady.
There is no point on it now. Range of all AOE skills was increased so much that positioning is stupid. They don't increase enmity anymore either, so no reason to command them.
A relic of an era long gone.
>A relic of an era long gone.
Even without digging for changelogs or old footage I could tell Scholar has gone changes that they didn't bother retroactively fixing, when the unlocking cutscenes talked about two fairies, one for healing and one for attack buffs, and then you find out Selene was haphazardly demoted into a half-baked glamour mechanic that doesn't even have a UI.
every once in a while as SCH I'll be pushed into corner and my teammates will be pushed into the other corner. Only in a situation like this will placing the fairy in the center of the arena be useful, they really dumbed down the strategy by making AoEs absolutely fricking massive. Whispering dawn is still 15y and Blessing is 20y so it's not like it's completely useless at this point.
Fey Union is funny if you make the tether from across the arena and freak people out who've never seen Fey Union before, kinda like DRG's Dragon Sight. Otherwise I just place the fairy underneath the tank so the tether is short
And then I forget to unplace the fairy and it just fricking disappears because I walked too far away from it
Entirely worthless on SMN now because some dipshit thought making the pet not be a pet was a good idea
>Entirely worthless on SMN now because some dipshit thought making the pet not be a pet was a good idea
It's funny. SCH ability list has 9 "pet actions", SMN has one, and it's the shield you learn at level 2.
can't wait for them to delete the shield but still keep physick
>kinda like DRG's Dragon Sight
I miss it, bros...
>change things mid expansion
You must be new.
They've done that plenty of times already.
What released content have they changed mid expansion?
So depressing still playing this and having most of your old friends gone for good. I can't even blame them for giving up on this game. Just sucks to be the one left behind, still clinging to a dead game.
i bet you're still going to purchase and sub for dawntrail. just let go, the game isn't going to get any better
I am, I have housing so I have to stay subbed forever. I also have trouble letting go in general, if I didn't I'd be long gone by now
yeah this is mental illness. It's likely your life hasn't seen much success in general with this attitude.
Just get an apartment and be free of the house.
Anon, you should be able to tell by now that they're slowly patching out high end content. They might not be literally removing it from the game, but they are slowly, step by step, making it more and more easy, more and more dumbed down, and more and more "accessible". People clearing a fricking ultimate without healers, lmfao what a joke.
XIV isn't and hasn't been a good MMO for difficult content for a while. The only real way to get difficulty out of savage content is to intentionally go in on a class that complicates fights (black mage), or intentionally group with mediocore/bad players while playing a healer.
>People clearing a fricking ultimate without healers, lmfao what a joke.
That's actually really cool and I'm glad a forced meta that requires healers or any comp really is being phased out. Way more fun if we can make multiple kinds of party comps to clear content.
it's not being phased out. healers are still the meta. no-healer runs are done for the sake of the challenge, you're not making it any easier on yourself and only a select few very skilled players can pull off a no healer dsr or top run, not to mention the sheer dumb luck needed for mechanics to work in your favor
No it's not. It's moronic. I'm fine with being able to mix things up by maybe only running one tank, or one healer, or all 4 melee dps, or other whacky shit like that, but the fact an entire role, an ENTIRE playstyle is optional in the highest end content in the game is absolutely fricking moronic, doesn't matter if it was a sweaty optimized group. It simply shouldn't be possible in such high end, difficult content.
It's just too bad they didn't clear it with all tanks or all healers, or any combination that has no DPS, because the community undoubtedly would've b***hed and moaned if that were the case.
saying healers are optional for top and dsr is splitting hairs. it's impossible for 99% of players, it's not even an option for them
I understand why you don't like it, but I see it as more freedom to play the game how you like so I think it's a good thing. We don't have to agree I'm not trying to change your mind.
>an ENTIRE playstyle is optional in the highest end content in the game is absolutely fricking moronic
How many groups are not running a healer in top tier content?
Are those groups in the room with you right now?
>doesn't matter if it was a sweaty optimized group. It simply shouldn't be possible in such high end, difficult content.
work on that reading comprehension, room tempie
>It simply shouldn't be possible in such high end, difficult content.
But I disagree and think it should be possible. This is called an "opinion" anon. Use your favorite search engine to look up what that means.
I am not the one trying to make the insane claim that healers are worthless in fights based on a sample size of near zero.
didn't people clear bahamut with 8 tanks?
Anon, tge people who did it are tippy toppest if top raiders who planned everything out and still failed hundreds of times before getting a clear despite clearing the fight normally multiple times. No healers ultimate isn't viable for anyone below the 0.1% top gold parses, and neither is it worth the effort. It's simply something that exposes the poor raid design we're stuck with now.
>the face that filtered Ganker
what is the point of criterions
they should just stop wasting time on side content that is forgotten in 2 weeks
So they should stop making the game then?
Well yeah didn’t the devs actually say that you should play a different game?
It’s barely an mmo anyway. It’s all boring single player cutscenes. A glorified matchmaking lobby that pairs you up in random dungeons with people you will never see again.
Why add content if I should play other game? I think Yoshida needs to put his money where his mouth is and add nothing each expansion besides new MSQ.
Them saying "just play something else" tells me they don't want to be bothered with working on anything, not sure what they're doing then or how anyone keeps a job.
Things like this are why
why do you attention prostitute so much?
>lacking in rewards
Fine by me. Nobody's doing it so my team and I just farm it and sell the mount. Easiest money making I've ever done.
Yeah sure but what’s the point of all that money? Useless housing items?
Probably paying for next savage raid tier.
That and having gil
You have a week to make your own gear now, no reason to ever pay for MB food and pots.
It's also fun. FFXIV was severely lacking in challenging 4-man content. Of course better rewards would be good, but it would attract annoying tryhards and would just be another savage
>actually working for a measly 30mil you have to split four ways
LMAOOOOOOO, step aside poorgay. The submariners are here.
Is it really that good? I thought of getting a private house, everything is 30-60mil.
Gathering/Crafting gear at each patch's launch was my money maker, but I haven't been able to break above 20mil since 5.1
Depends entirely on your luck. One run takes 20-30mn if you're good at it, you're gonna need to prog though it's not easy. It's also almost impossible to do on PF, you're gonna need a team. On average you get 1 mount per 2-3 runs and 1 mount sells for 20-30mils, depends on your serv.
After that it depends on how you decide to do things with your team. We decided to split random mount drops sales in 4, and we can do what we want with the dungeon currency, so if we get to 100 we can buy a mount and sell it for 100% personal benefits.
It's not the most efficient way of making money but it's pretty fun, at least we're doing actual content and not crafting / gathering
>Savage mechanics but the encounter is half as long
Yes, it is midcore. Casualgays should be asking for more casual content if they struggle with it.
anon? that's literally harder?
savage only has those mechanics half the time yes, but that makes it easier. since you can help revive and recover during the boring downtime.
in criterion it's all go go go and there's no infinite resses either. no 2nd tank or healer to pick up the other. it's not midcore
So, can we conclude the encounter design is ASS in EW? There have been very few fights that have been actually fun to do and I feel the combat content is more and more just for people who enjoy progging by dying to each mechanics 10 times to understand what the game actually wants from you instead for people who like.. just enjoy playing the game.
Yes, Eden Verse and Delubrum Reginae Savage were the last drops of soul in XIV encounters. I will give Diamond Weapon a bit of credit for the platform hopping but that wasn't really anything amazing, just neat.
>platform hopping
we did that in wotlk decades ago
And its not new to XIV either, just something you rarely see these days because the devs are allergic to good mechanics. Stack, spread, protean, dynamo, chariot forever.
They actually removed it from the hraesvelgr fight
It's still in Hullbreaker because Trusts csn enter it.
>most interesting EW bosses are the one that calls a stampede and the one that jumps and sends out the lines of electricity
And despite all of these problems, it's never been more successful.
XIV has the blessings of wanting to be loved by FF players because they love the FF brand relentlessly. And being a WoW clone directly competing against WoW.
Either way FFXIV is the game that everyone plays out of spite and not because of qualities present in the game. Everyone you talk about it is more or less in the same boat.
>the game could be much better
But I also learned that development on FF16 started in 2016, after Heavensward came out. Which begs the question, what will that mean for XIV?
>But I also learned that development on FF16 started in 2016, after Heavensward came out. Which begs the question, what will that mean for XIV?
Nothing. The fanbase gaslit themselves into believing SB was bad because the story wasn't up to par with HW's best moments. Meanwhile, SB had the best variety and quality of content and didn't casualize jobs as hard as SHB and EW. Mind you, SB was made immediately when XIV lost a chunk of staff to work on XVI, and it wasn't just content but also where cutscenes started having better animations and more voice acting to boot. The thought of XVI development wasn't on anyone's mind at the time because the game was hardly lacking, becoming formulaic sure but it basically had everything you'd want.
It wasn't until EW that muh XVI excuse started becoming a thing when the game was already 90% complete. Any chance to hold the devs accountable for their laziness has completely vanished due to this.
Predict, who and where will the Corsair and Geomancer mentors/trainers be once 7.0 launches
Limsa, Gridania
I could see Gridania the only expac job they got was GNB and that questline moves away real quick. Limsa Lominsa is pretty obvious, but that's why I think Corsair will not be in Limsa
>Geomancer
It's painter
Corsair limsa and painter probably gridania
Its going to be GEO
I just want job quests to come back. Role quests suck so much...
what's up with that? The hand and land got shafted too, and now it's harder to get extra exp since they all share quests with one another.
Too many jobs. You'll end up with paladin HW quests.
With level 100 being the new cap having job quests return to give you your big lvl 100 skill would be kino
but the way the DRK questline ended with the lv 80 quest was so perfect. Literally can't be more perfected
is XIV really a RPG if there's no gear customization, no build customization everyone is playing the same 'role'? is XIV a MMOVN ?
