I'll leave you with it is RVC using Rvc2. I trained the model using rips from YouTube using a Spongebob game voice line rip video that was like 20 min. I used Audio Slicer to make it into 5 second clips and trained that in RVC. I trained and converted the file using rvmpe(sp?). I recorded the audio of myself in Audacity and fed that in.

Errors that could be fixed with inpainting are constantly left as-is, and there's a pervasive attitude of 'good enough' or 'I'll wait until someone develops a perfect fix'. You won't see an increase in completed projects because the reality is the people who couldn't muster that willpower to do it anyway, never cared that much to do it in the first place. What you'll get instead is just a lot of prompting hobbyists, completely satisfied to see just part of the idea happen and then never progress past that point or simply move on. The only time you'll see an increase in AI-based projects is when a generation grown up with AI who would have done it anyway without it do it next.

New technology and it's romanticists are nothing new, everything always looks bright and infinite when it's fresh but people are people, they have to care enough in the end and no amount of barriers dropping in skills and time will ever remove the barrier of passion, the one thing everyone needs to clear on their own.

You didn't have to worry about the elements, the quality of the material you used, waiting on paint to dry or the cost of materials outside of your own computer. Yet even as it has evolved and made things easier, even with the boundless resources available for people that could teach them any technique they wanted, still there are many, many, MANY people who never took up drawing beyond the hobbyist step. It will be no different here either, they both will deal with the same problem: the barrier of "do I give enough shits to do it at all versus something much simpler, including nothing?"

With AI you don't simply have one extra tool to help you draw, the process itself started to change. In addition AI allows amateurs to produce shit in other fields like animation, voice acting etc.

There's a substantial difference between hobbyists/dabblers and people who will actually realize their projects through to completion. No streamlining will magically fix the lazy to suddenly realizing their dream games/movies/whatever.
Even if the majority won't even finish a project that doesn't mean there won't be an increase in people who actually do finish something.
One major constraint for most people is simply time. They almost all have a job or various things to do and if AI can turn a 40 hour project into a 10 hour project then it will help them massively.

However for a full game where the characters actually matter? Nah, those should still have real VA and real writers or else the game is low effort garbage.

in order to have halfway decent VA work you need to
A) hire good voice actors
B) do many different takes of every line
C) own a studio and have the VAs come in and interact
D) have a passionate director in there at all times to guide and give context to every line
E) makes sure they're working closely with the editor.
but literally no one does this in video games.
