Why do people keep saying this is the greatest Diablo game? I was expecting something more but I'm bored out of my mind playing Barbarian. I'm at Act 2 and all I'm doing is running around basic attacking.
Everything is relevant to the time. It was probably one of the best Diablo experiences of all time when it released, the online community was insane too. It just doesn't work today.
It genuinely gets better in Nightmare when you have more skills. That being said just go play something else if you don't like the game. It's that easy.

Was the console version of D3 the year after PC? Because I remember enjoying it on console so much more.
it's effectively a couch co-op gauntlet game, more so than a Diablo game.
i recommended D3 to someone who wanted a successor to Champions of Norath, and he went head over heels for the game like you wouldn't believe.

He's not a true Champs fan then. I always see Diablo being different to Champs, but it fills the gap I guess.
that honestly describes why I enjoy d3 surprisingly well, I just love farming rifts with my pals
for the most part builds only start feeling good around level 40, I wouldn't drop it untill then
(unless you're a melee build, then you're fricked untill you get endgame gear)

Diablo 1 is still by far the best diablo game. Diablo 2 was a fun game but that genre is boring and stale, we've played it for 20+ years now without anything evolving.
D1 gameplay is total shaite by today's standards while D2 still beats most recent releases

Please redpill me on this. I've been seeing the name here for years but I know nothing about it.
The gameplay is the same in every arpg, diablo 1 is slower than most but I prefer that to the zoom zoom kill entire screen gameplay. It's definitely the most immersive arpg.

it's not the same gameplay, Diablo 2 is just peak gameplay. and Diablo 1 is just lacking immensely, suck it off all you want but it's just inferior an Diablo 2.
d2 will always be the best of its genre
Lot's of people parroting "good for it's time". Deus ex, baldurs gate 2, ff9 or thief 2 came out in 00 too and are better than most current games. Maybe it was always bad idk
