I can see why plenty of people might not like it, but most of the D3 haters boil down to "muh bring back real money item market".

The only good ARPG are Diablo 1 and 2, Titan Quest and Grim Dawn everything else is either slop and borrows shit from other genres that ruin the whole thing. PoE is a live service F2P shit
I dont think the ARPG genre will ever be good once you become an adult because the entire game play can be summed up as grinding enemies from an isometric perspective so you can grind them harder, the only motivation and driving force within these games are to improve your numbers on a spread sheet.
The problem with these games is that its never about how skilled you are as essentially all enemies are defeated by cycling through a rotation of 4-8 abilities while any excitement you might have is quickly blasting throught enemies on the map in the most efficent way possible. The bosses dont really do anything unique as you have seen them all before and any difficulty from them is essentially knowing how to properly use your movement abilities to avoid telegraphed attacks. Theres nothing in these games that isnt perfectly mapped out a million times before you've done it so if you ever make a mistake you can always check internet guides made by autists to further min max your build and know the best places to grind. Theres nothing there for you to discover, no real sense of adventure.
These games are limited by technology and until they have enemies that are actually intelligent and adapt to your tactics or have powerful unique gear that is one of a kind for each player im not interested.
The best of them is Last Epoch but even that game I get the sense of im just on a digital treadmill and theres nothing exciting going on besides a new class got released and some other novelty stuff that spices up the mapping process a bit.
I think over all public sector technology in the area of AI tools needs to take root in the gaming industry before ARPGs could offer a really dynamic experience. Basically in the end what these games 20 years later are all clones of Diablo 2 with extra bells and whistles and better graphics but the whole gameplay concept and loop remains the same and the same problems arise that I saw in D3

Posting in the schizo thread. I reinstalled D3 for the first time since RoS came out and it still has one of the best moment to moment gameplay in the genre. Stopped playing when I got 2 pieces of a set that by themselves boosted my damage by 6000% with another 75000% if I got all 6. Between that and grinding rifts being the only endgame activity it has one of the worst endgames, not that PoE maps are any better.
Can't get into Titan Quest and Grim Yawn due to how awful combat feels in them, is Epoch any good now?
